I did my weekly big shop this evening - totally forgot that there was a game on, not that I cared Hmm but there again, I'm Scottish Wink

I'm still waiting to see how my guys do against Turkey. If they win and play as well as they did against Romania, the English are in trouble.

Must admit I expected Netherlands to be playing England and England to therefore be screwed 😂

I am sure Tice and Oakenshott will be living it up in Skegness and be a prominent presence for their constituents

Skeg Vegas

countrygirl99 · 06/07/2024 20:49

I'm going to Skegness in September. I'll take one for the team and report back.

DuncinToffee · 06/07/2024 20:49

We Dutch can do with good vibes, 1-0 behind

Meanwhile new appointment

I'm welsh and had Switzerland in the sweepstake, so meh. Grin

I couldn’t care less about football from any country if I put maximum effort in.

TimeForRishiByeByes · 06/07/2024 20:53

Tbh I was hoping we would get kicked out so I could stop hearing about it at work.

I had to go and hide in the kitchen when they were doing the penalty shoot-out!

I went out into the garden and I’m not even English! Well done to them.

Welsh and Scottish household here. So meh also!

But still. Starmer has obviously improved the English team's chances today and cancelled Rwanda. Could you please fix the weather now, please, Keir?

IClaudine · 06/07/2024 21:07

I have a tenner on Spain winning. Fingers crossed!

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 06/07/2024 21:09

I'm going to stick my neck out and say England v Spain in the final. Which will make things interesting in a friendship group.

If every whinging Tory fan followed this advice, the country would be a much nicer place. (the ones who can accept defeat are not included in this statement).

100%. There are some right old fun sponges on here at the moment, so damn negative and determined to pick holes and be doom and gloom. Not sure if they're Tory, suffering from sour grapes or just right miserable buggers

nothing will dampen my euphoria. I'm determined to stay high as a kite for at least the next 5 years if not longer. No drugs required.

Two inspired and inspiring senior appointments into the PMs new Cabinet

James Timpson, chief executive of his father’s Timpson Group is Minister of State for prisons, parole and probation. Timpson is well-known for employing former prisoners to help with their rehabilitation.

Sir Patrick Vallance, is Minister of State for science in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

Starmer is a good judge of character

ETA to clarify, the fun sponges aren't on this thread, they're everywhere else!

pointythings · 06/07/2024 21:29

There's an incredibly ironic thread going on about how Conservatives are so much better at accepting defeat... OP clearly hasn't been paying attention to MN for the past 36 hours.

I think someone heard you.

RosaRoja · 06/07/2024 21:33

Tímpano supported Brexit but I guess it’s time to move on and wish him well in this post.

RosaRoja · 06/07/2024 21:33

Or the 6 weeks leading up to the predicted massive loss!

They were like sore losers from the moment the GE was announced.

And Neatherlands score again 🥳

It was an own goal. Bit like the Tory election campaign. Grin

And can I apologise for misspelling Netherlands 🤦‍♀️ I know how to spell it but hadn't realised until you quoted my post I'd made a typo 😳

If I ever get offended by typos, I'll abandon Mumsnet!

placemats · 06/07/2024 21:52

I was most impressed with Pickford's Irish tricolour goalie outfit.

Netherlands defending like there's a semi final to play for.

placemats · 06/07/2024 21:56

The semi finals are going to be fantastic to watch.

Right off to bed again. Had a solid eight hours sleep last night but still need to catch up.

DuncinToffee · 06/07/2024 22:00

DD made cocktails to celebrate the wins, cheers all 🍸
