Not read the thread so might echo others but

What Dreams May Come
The Lovely Bones
City of Angels
War Horse
Audrey Rose (the last 30ish minutes)
Angela's Ashes
Last Exit to Brooklyn
Once upon a Time in Hollywood (how I wish that ending had been Real)

There are others but these off the top of my head

Really? I might cry at how bad it is 😂 quasi religious nonsense and sugary enough to give you diabetes

I thought it was quite sad she died.

whiteroseredrose · 05/07/2024 20:25

About Time.

I'd love to be able to pop back to when DC were 4 and 7 for a day sometimes.

Emily1583 · 05/07/2024 20:30

The Green Mile. Everytime for me.

Moana….where her dead grandma comes back to see her on the boat after Maui flounces.

I know…I’m ridiculous.

Also the episode of Bluey where they are dreaming and playing in outer space.

😁

You are sooooo not ridiculous. I’d not long lost my mum when I saw Moana and this scene gets me every single time. “There is nowhere you can go where I will not be with you”. In fact, it’s set me off just thinking about it!

Marley and Me
A Dog’s Purpose
Haatchi

And moving away from the canine theme :
Life is Beautiful

Watched a dog's purpose at weekend. Was crying my eyes out. DH suggested we change the channel because I seemed to be struggling a bit with it 😂. What can I say, I really like dogs.

Hecatoncheires · 05/07/2024 21:09

I remember watching ‘The Elephant Man’ for the first time aged 13. The scene where John Merrick is chased by a crowd of people and cornered by them in a toilet. He cries at them “I am not an animal. I am a human being”. I cried and cried and thought about it for days afterwards, about how awful people can be to each other - particularly to difference.

Whataweirdsituation · 05/07/2024 21:10

Me before you. I’m not a crier, but EVERY TIME.

Watership Down
Velveteen Rabbit

Oh Watership Down!! When the Black Rabbit tells Hazel he's been so tired lately and takes him up to rabbit heaven. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking of it.

PotholesAnonymous · 05/07/2024 21:14

Bridges of Madison County

A dog's journey

HalebiHabibti · 05/07/2024 21:34

As others have said, pretty much anything. But this year I have added the moment Jasmin Parris finished the Barkley Marathons (99 seconds left to the cut-off!) to the list.

HazzleMcDazzle · 05/07/2024 21:39

Mamma Mia 2 - the end scene with Meryl Streep gets me every time

No idea if it’s any good from an adult perspective but I must have been about 11 when I absolutely bawled dramatically though Riding in Cars With Boys. A pretty bleak film based on a true story with Drew Barrymore in and an everly brothers song 😄

Flip i ADORED this film! Forgot all about it. Off to find it :)

StirlingMallory · 05/07/2024 21:50

The Remains of the Day
Kes

Ordinary People. Watched it when I was younger and remember bawling my eyes out...haven't watched it since

internationaldebates · 05/07/2024 22:05

Ponyo, when his mum leaves him to rescue the old people. Me and a woman in the row in front in the cinema properly sobbing!'

I'm not sure I really understand the question. (a) why would crying make me feel better (b) I really don't need a film for that, I can do it to myself in 2 minutes just by running through the penultimate scene in Iolanthe

I'm in stitches at this post. Who comes into a self indulgent sobfest thread like "well I only care for the finest opera"

and the opera is fucking Gilbert and Sullivan

cakebytheoceon · 05/07/2024 16:49

The notebook 😩🫶

Nick Cassavetes, the director of The Notebook, announced last week that his mother, Gena Rowlands, who starred in the movie, has suffered from dementia for yeas now and has now had Alzheimer’s disease for the last five years.
What a lousy ending for such an incredible woman. And what a shitty coincidence.

ManchesterBees · 06/07/2024 04:04

Since it's not been mentioned, I love a good cry to Deep Impact!
