Marley and Me
A Dog’s Purpose
Haatchi

And moving away from the canine theme :
Life is Beautiful

Oh my god 'A dog's purpose!', if you're a dog person and cry easily you may want to give it a swerve, great film though!

If you want a double whammy 'A dog's Journey' is the sequel!

bringonyourwreckingball · 05/07/2024 18:49

Big Hero 6 gets me. Opening of Up but hate the rest of the film. Toy Story 3.

although I once cried at a Waitrose advert for sausages so it’s safe to say I’m on a hair trigger

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 05/07/2024 18:50

Gallipoli - the futility of it
Brassed Off when they play to Pete Postlethwaite
Up - the start
Backdraft - the funeral
Paddington 2 - Aunt Lucy (happy tears)
Moulin Rouge

Not a film but the last Blackadder 😭

Viviennemary · 05/07/2024 18:51

Gone with the wind
Steel magnolias
Carve her name with pride (that's the most moving being a true story)

A butter advert will do it for me!!

i can't think of a specific film that hasn't been mentioned,

hope it makes you feel better!

lemmein · 05/07/2024 18:55

Congratulations. Do you ever feel empathy?

@Ingens yeah, weirdly I'm very empathetic - I used to be a social worker so it was kinda essential!

You seem annoyed by my lack of tears though, perhaps you're over-emotional?

(I did feel a slight twinge watching Corrie a few years ago when Leanne's little boy died - still didn't cry though 🤖)

BeaRF75 · 05/07/2024 18:56

Paddington 2

Not many on a second viewing.

But the minute Sue Barker walked out onto centre court to interview Andy Murray I was in bits. And all the way through the interview/ovations.
I saw a clip of it again today and it had the same effect.

For some reason, sporting achievements have a much greater affect on me than films. I cry at the London Marathon every year, and will undoubtedly be a mess during the Olympics. I think maybe it's the genuine, raw emotion that gets to me.

This is a fantastic reply and I agree - sport does it.
So, I'll add thenew Federer documentary to the list.

WeywardCrow · 05/07/2024 19:04

Brokeback Mountain
The English Patient
Gladiator
Steel Magnolias

and of those will probably help!

HoHoHoliday · 05/07/2024 20:02

@GiggleMugsMandy That's one of the few film scenes that made me feel genuine sadness. Most films your brain is tricked into it with music but this one, I really felt her grief and cried afterwards. She's a brilliant actress.
