I just watched Hunt’s Labrador leaving 11 Downing St and can’t lie, it’s the first time I’ve felt sad about any of the Tory Labradors having to move house suddenly. 🎾 🎾 Sad

Dd watched that this morning and said she thought it looked a bit harsh. Almost as though they were being made homeless.

I’m sure they’ll survive in their multi million gaff in Godalming. .

Just realised bloody Robert Jenrick is still hanging around. Why? Voters, what happened? He's a blot on the landscape.

I was assuming it was because he's right wing enough in himself to not lose seats to reform. But I didn't think that Newark was a particularly headbanging area

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 18:30

Oh joy Confused

At least five Tory MPs are expected to launch leadership bids now Rishi Sunak has announced his resignation,

The Telegraph understands Suella Braverman, Kemi Badenoch, Priti Patel, Robert Jenrick, Tom Tugendhat are all being tipped to run

TimeForRishiByeByes · 05/07/2024 18:31

Oh I would have loved that lab to do a really runny poo just as he left it would be symbol of his government.

Always wonder how much time London or Home Counties MPs really live in no.10, 11, 12 etc.

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 18:35

Didn't Mrs Sunak move out to be closer to her daughters school?

Notonthestairs · 05/07/2024 18:40

Barely more than a third of people who voted Reform yesterday said they might have voted Conservative. Our new poll conducted since 10pm yesterday finds the assumption simply adding up Tory & Reform UK votes would make a single combined block is likely to be wrong.

One of those is not the same as the others.

If they’d got any sense there’s an obvious choice there but these are the people who are responsible for Liz Truss so…

Yes, but 6 seats would be worse, because with 6 MPs a party suddenly gets a big chunk of funding.

Really?!

TooBigForMyBoots · 05/07/2024 19:08

I'm OK with Reform having 5 seats. The Tories should not have the monopoly on right wing votes.

Also I suspect their MPs may provide some interesting moments in the months ahead.Grin

PerfectYear321 · 05/07/2024 19:07

Really?!

Its what someone commented on, on Channel 4 last night, but when I researched it I couldn't find it. The number for short money appears to be 2.

That does ring a bell. You'd have thought it could be more that no 10 etc were more just an office. With bedrooms/flat to be used when necessary

Grantshappsgoodbye · 05/07/2024 19:09

Given we know how much everyone enjoys betting.

How long before Starmer's majority grows due to a Tory having to resign in disgrace?

My money’s on it being one of Nigel’s.

It won't take long, either.

I'm hoping they set up that ethics committee from their Democracy section of the manifesto pronto. Will enable them to hold Reform to account as well as the Tories.

TaraTories · 05/07/2024 19:20

It feels like the first day in a long time no one has been caught with their hand in the till or waving a willy at a camera or something similar. Agree with pp who say there's a feeling of calm again, as if a swarm of lazy wasps spied a coke can on the next table.

And lo the Health Secretary is going to initiate talks with junior doctors next week.

And mine. I'm hoping Starmer restores some decency into Parliament. With their (reform's) behaviour it's likely they wouldn't take long to breach a code of conduct.

Box of tissues spotlighted next to JRM on Ch4 News. Confused

Notonthestairs · 05/07/2024 19:35

Notonthestairs · 05/07/2024 19:37

OooooohhhhhJames Timpson OBE as Minister for Prisons, Parole and Probation - very good.

I do have a soft spot for Tim Farron.

@Notonthestairs absolutely delighted with these appointments, it was Gordon Brown’s idea to have a Government of All the Talents and I think having experts in some areas is by far the best thing.
