Sorry how exactly do you know I've not previously mentioned the marriages of the people you mentioned?
And I do actually see my marriage as an achievement. Isn't anything you put a lot of effort in and passion into and it's happy and successful and achievement?;
Anyway, you seem to have a bit of a bee in your bonnet. So crack on love.

IClaudine · 05/07/2024 14:37

Laura K rehashing all the Rayner nonsense 🙄

tobee · 05/07/2024 14:42

I'm happy for anyone from any political persuasion to have a good and loving marriage. Not just Labour @derxa that would be weird.

I am. I’m a fucking delight. It’s well known.
Nobody was giving adulation or saying Starmer was a saint for being respectful of his wife. Just that it was nice to see when not too long ago we had Johnson of the unknown number of children, alleged violence, sexual incontinence etc etc.

But Johnson's gone. Your party are in power now and have to be effective.

Yes, absolutely b
Which bit of that means we can’t appreciate that the leader is a nice bloke?

theonewiththeToryMP · 05/07/2024 14:45

Is anyone watching Farage? Oh my good Lord , it's a car crash.

tobee · 05/07/2024 14:45

Just remembering how the fun builds after election night - the Buckingham Palace stuff this morning, the cabinet stuff now. Then the funnest bit with everyone taking their places in the Commons. Then you can really see the changes in full technicolour.

Great now they've ruined it with Reform press conference. Stop the fawning attention media!

Yes! Just shouting ‘boring’ instead of engaging or waiting for them to be removed.

It is great. Wanker deserves it.

tobee · 05/07/2024 14:48

Aren't the protesters just giving succour to the Farage narrative?

No. There need to be protests against him from day one. He is dangerous.

SerendipityJane · 05/07/2024 14:53

Since I know there are loads of people with different languages here (which I celebrate) is there a single word we can purloin into English about being really nasty to people whose sudden conversion to a faith is so fucking obvious it hurts ?

I mean I can think of lots of words, but they're really abusive, and I'd prefer more nuanced.

I am referring (of course) to the sudden epiphany some people claim to have had around PR.

Incidentally Dawn Butler did suggest there is an appetite for it within Labour

An interesting bargaining position might be PR and HoL reform.

Ok good point @IClaudine.

Rachel Reeves coming into Downing Street. First woman chancellor - you love to see it!

tobee · 05/07/2024 14:55

Anyone else feeling how weird it must be for Starmer's kids today? Especially as they're teens and not primary school or adults

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound terse. FlowersBut Farage scares me.

He is terrifying.

deeahgwitch · 05/07/2024 15:02

What happens to Naomi Long, leader of Alliance as she didn't win a seat, she lost out to Gavin Robinson of the DUP @TooBigForMyBoots ?
Will she remain leader ?

I do know quite a few NI Mumsnetters commented on her position re the Trans issue.

tobee · 05/07/2024 15:03

No that's fine @IClaudine; I didn't think you were terse. I just second guess everything 😊

Notonthestairs · 05/07/2024 15:05

"I am referring (of course) to the sudden epiphany some people claim to have had around PR."

Isn't that the truth.

PR has been raised in a number of MN threads over the years and been roundly ignored by those with a then vested interest in FPTP.

I'd love to repay that hypocrisy in kind but I happen to think it should be explored at a convenient juncture. Clearly there isn't any rush otherwise it would have been raised before the election...

She'll stay leader of Alliance Party and a minister in Stormount. She is TWAW, but most recently has been in the news for a Bill that protected abusers' identities for up to 25 years after their death. The courts said No!Grin

mibbelucieachwell · 05/07/2024 15:16

Yes @Zonder The Neil Kinnock interview. Oh my. Amol Rajan leading up to asking him what advice he'll give KS, as they are quite close apparently, by asking KS visited you after your wife died last year didn't he? After a momentous night and sudden mention of his beloved late wife NK had a 'moment' of being overcome with emotion and needed a further long question to gather himself together enough to do the interview.

It must be so poignant for him to see this landslide labour victory without his wife who was so involved and invested in the Labour Party and such a tower of strength for him.

It reminded me of hearing that my sibling was going to be a parent and being delighted but also really sad our recently deceased mum wasn't around to enjoy having another grandchild. Intense.

user8800 · 05/07/2024 15:18

Honestly, how long until those 4 x deform mps will enrage/upset/abuse their constituents and a by election will be called?

Sunlight on those fuckers is all that will expose them for who they are

tobee · 05/07/2024 15:18

Angela Rayner Deputy PM, housing, levelling up etc

tobee · 05/07/2024 15:19
