Me too. He looks SO happy.

Me too, feeling quite emotional now.

Must be lack of sleep Smile

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 12:42

Lovely scenes

Apileofballyhoo · 05/07/2024 12:43

Tears in my eyes watching that.

IClaudine · 05/07/2024 12:44

Good opening about Sunak.

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 12:45

It's pouring down with rain here in a blue seat

cakeorwine · 05/07/2024 12:46

I wonder when he wrote this?

Would you want to write it before the results are known?
Or would that be tempting fate?

Rishibyebye · 05/07/2024 12:46

that's a strong opening - stability and moderation!

BIossomtoes · 05/07/2024 12:47

Stability and moderation. Yes please.

He knows he’s talking to a traumatised nation - it needs healing and rebuilding

Heavenssakes · 05/07/2024 12:49

And suddenly he's on fire.

Normally the cautious drone makes my attention wander pretty fast: fantastic to see some passion.

RishiAteMyHamster · 05/07/2024 12:49

Good speech

SerendipityJane · 05/07/2024 12:49

BIossomtoes · 05/07/2024 12:47

Stability and moderation. Yes please.

And boring. We have 3 main weapons ... Stability. moderation, boring and uneventful.

Four, we have four main weapons, Stability, moderation, boring, uneventful and competence ....

c'mon guys !

IClaudine · 05/07/2024 12:50

Oh, he looked as though he was crying a bit at the end.

Don't let us down Keir.

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 12:51

He can't quite believe it

user8800 · 05/07/2024 12:52

<weeps>

BIossomtoes · 05/07/2024 12:53

I really wasn’t expecting it to feel this good.

I liked that speech.

IClaudine · 05/07/2024 12:54

It is such a relief that the Tories are gone.

I liked that speech.

So did I. It wasn't barnstorming or flashy, just honest and conciliatory towards the people who voted against him.

Oops name change fail!

Rinoachicken · 05/07/2024 12:56

as a someone with a hidden disability, who works in the NHS, my partner works in social care, we have 2 disabled children, I feel like I can now breath a little easier - I’m not in fear anymore of what my government is about to announce next.

I don’t think I realised just how afraid for my children’s future I was - until this morning - because now that fear is dropping away.

cardibach · 05/07/2024 12:56

I really like ‘government of service ’.
Excellent speech.

cardibach · 05/07/2024 12:58

BIossomtoes · 05/07/2024 12:37

I like it too. But then I’m that weird hybrid - a socialist/monarchist.

I don’t think in British terms it’s that weird. I don’t share it, though I do like all the pomp and circumstance, oddly (as theatre mainly), but I do understand it.

Edited

You’re so right, it’s like someone has taken a massive stone off of my back and I can finally stand up straight again. I know change won’t be immediate but I finally believe we have a leader who wants what’s best for me and for my children.
