Sadly there is still far too many blue patches on the map. I am so so relieved to see the back of the Tories. Now the rebuild starts

Depending on your opinion of Nadine Dorries

There are a range of opinions ???

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 05/07/2024 08:05

Yes, looking at that map it looks more balanced than it is! Obviously due to numbers... mine not in yet, waiting on tenterhooks here but will have to go to work soon!
Well done and thank you to all who held the fort for us who couldn't stay up.

😂

Yes, you're right. My apologies.

But just wanted to cover myself, just on case there are still any Mad Nad supporters out there.

Do we know what voter turnout was? I can't find it.

theonewiththeToryMP · 05/07/2024 08:08

I know it's a drop in the ocean but I think Labour really really urgently need to consider that they lost or nearly lost seats not only with high Muslim populations but also 'Woke' seats like Bristol Central. Debonnaire is an admirable and competent person, passionate about the Arts but quite a few of her views clearly aren't palatable to Bristol Central voters. I don't think that is just embracing the lovely Carla Denyer ; it's also a rejection of Labourism/ Starmerism.. I know it's one seat but you could say the same of a few places. Streeting clearly isn't that well liked in his own constituency. I expect the BBC will jsut reduce this to a 'Muslim vote' but it's more complex than that.

Out of interest does anyone know how many voted KJK got in that constituency?

minou123 · 05/07/2024 08:09

Right, I'm off to bed.

I think I'm starting to hallucinate.

Thank you everyone for a great night

If you read his book (which is very good) he really does make it sound as if he wandered into the Tory party because he actaully really wnated to be an Important MP, and the Tories gave him the best chance of Being Important. I quite like him but he is the nicer end of public schoolboy entitlement.

I read his walking one. I don’t think he fully grasps how lucky he’s been in the opportunities he’s had in his life.

60% according to BBC news

Liz Truss tells @BBCRosAtkins why she thinks the Tories lost and seems to blame New Labour: "In our fourteen years in power, we did not do enough to take on the legacy we'd been left."

Fuck sakes, deluded.

Harman is right - the Shit List is massive.
Measured and purposeful is good.

Dorries banging on about falling in love with the leader - I don't want bloody hearts and flowers, I want to manage my mortgage and bills.

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 08:16

Our bit of Surrey has stayed blue, sigh

And yet one mention from Labour about the mess they've been left and she will be up in arms.

Morning you wonderful bunch!
Well, I was nearly right with my Clacton bed time Mystic Meg Grin

Best post I've seen this morning:

Lucy Prebble@lucyprebblish

Anyway it’s nice. This is nice. The Prime Minister is going to be a human rights lawyer rather than, say, a billionaire’s husband, Liz Truss, or a sperm-filled Catherine wheel

I fell asleep just before Liz truss lost her seat but what a thing to wake up to! Oh i do like natural consequences! Ta Ta Liz!

Nice to see the Lib Dem's doing better than predicted! And the greens!

Right school run! 😴

TaraTories · 05/07/2024 08:25

FML Reform came 3rd where I am beating LD! 😱

theonewiththeToryMP · 05/07/2024 08:26

Same here but I think that was mainly young Greens and LDs lending their votes to Labour.

Zonder · 05/07/2024 08:28

6 seats left to declare. I just want it all over without reform getting any more seats. Do we know when they will finally declare?

theonewiththeToryMP · 05/07/2024 08:30

Anotehr Independent Gain in Birmingham announced. Jess Phillips did well, really.

And Nadine even managing to get someone who voted Tory this time round to say they could fall in with Keir. Talk about a winning personality.

I bet the family dog ate Liz Truss’s homework a lot.

TaraTories · 05/07/2024 08:31

I see Trott held Sevenoaks with 18,232 votes Libs second with 12,888 and Reform third. T Wells did go Lib though! So glad they did better than Exit Poll suggested and Reform did worse. Hopefully the media will focus on the actual news now not their dystopian nightmare to embolden the few.

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 08:34

Ursula von der Leyen

Congratulations Keir_Starmer on your electoral victory. I look forward to working with you in a constructive partnership to address common challenges and strengthen European security.

TaraTories · 05/07/2024 08:36

My main bugbear about last night was the appalling coverage. Not one channel was talking about the actual votes coming in - all waffling on about who was best Tory/Reform/Labour and why incessantly. No one website seems to be able to show the results either. I just had to spend 20mins individually googling seats! Has anyone got a proper link?

Jason118 · 05/07/2024 08:39

I nodded off, must have been the whisky. Thanks for all the comments, it's a lovely way to catch up! My highlight has to be Truss, and JRM obvs.
