was the second person to vote in my polling station today at 7:05am! i've done my bit to get rid of the Tories.

I'm in a small village and got to the polling station at 7.15. Usually that would put me in the first 2 or 3 voters but I was number 10 today and there were more people coming in while I was there. Don't know if that's an early indicator of turnout.

Are you North or Mid? I forget!

countrygirl99 · 04/07/2024 08:49

North

NoDishiForRishi · 04/07/2024 09:01

Done! Took DD along with me on the way to school. Steady stream of folk going in, the clerk said they had been quite busy, hopeful for a good turn out!

I had my nails done last week, Labour red. 🤞🏻

Off to vote now.

Whatever the outcome can I just say thank you to all the regular posters on here who have given me hope, comfort, laughs, the benefit of your immense knowledge and wisdom and many great cat photos over the last few weeks. You've kept me same and optimistic. You are good people!

Hoping for change.

OutdamnHunt · 04/07/2024 09:08

Happy Election morning! Reports from home that polling station bustling first thing. Trying to do holiday things but am super distracted. And have nervous tummy. Less than 13 hours to go!

prettybird · 04/07/2024 09:18

Have to take dh to get his dressing changed (it's two weeks tomorrow from his day case total hip replacement). We'll go and vote on the way home.

I saw his scar when he had the dressing changed last Friday: it's amazing what they can do nowadays - it looks just like a sharpie line down his thigh. The NHS can be brilliant Smile

He's doing amazingly well - already able to walk around the house with just one stick (outside still has to be two sticks).

I've just been to the shops and bought some Prosecco for tonight 🥂

Thank you for being a sane corner of mn and for your company all these years ❤️

mibbelucieachwell · 04/07/2024 09:21

Well done the early voters, especially @medianewbie .

Does anyone know how a high turnout is predicted to affect the outcome?

dontcallmelen · 04/07/2024 09:27

Happy Election Day 🙏🏻🎉🍾🌈 ❤️
reiterating pp thank you for being a haven in times of trouble you wonderful people, I’m wandering around aimlessly can’t settle to get on with anything, I’m going up to the Labour constituency hub bit later to help out for a while, then shopping for some nice snacks will vote when Dh gets home

user8800 · 04/07/2024 09:27

I'm meeting a friend for coffee then going to see mum
Then a nap I think!
Out at the theatre later and will possibly pull an all nighter depending on exit polls 😬

placemats · 04/07/2024 09:47

I've set the alarm on for 3.30am in case I fall asleep at 1am.

This time tomorrow morning 😀 🤞

High turnout traditionally benefits Labour but politics is so bonkers right now who knows? High turnout would definitely make a Labour victory more convincing.

Here is a link to election night bingo ( 6 or so varieties) . I have also done a spreadsheet by tory candidates and constituency. Enjoy. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VFfWntjH68TKyAuYuXh4ArEzr-wEvudI

**it's a dummy account BTW.

Thanks @Cheguevarahamster I can't decide which bingo card to go with!

I won't link to a GBNews offering, but seen a report that the Home Office is standing down on the Rwanda plan and releasing some detainees ahead of the expected results.

It's not been highlighted that much in the noise, but thank all that is holy the Rwanda scheme looks to be put out of our misery.

About to meet friend for a coffee. We live in different areas of a very brexity town and have had tory MPs since 2019, both of us will vote labour.
One has his campaign office directly opposite another friend’s house. We walked past and looked in to see a few very elderly ladies putting leaflets in envelopes. Usually it’s locked up and shutters down. Hopefully that’s the only demographic that votes for him…
Agree this thread is a breath of fresh air. I’m not that convinced labour will win such a huge majority (shy tories and all that) but hopefully the Tories will realise they need to sort themselves out if they do get a drubbing.
