Morning.

mibbelucieachwell · 04/07/2024 07:19

Morning all. It's going to be a long day. DH and I don't have passports and are mildly worried that our driving licences won't be accepted as ID. In my case because I have more hair and in his case because he has less hair. Poor old DH.

TheInvisibleMann · 04/07/2024 07:19

Morning all. Happy Election Day. Let's do this!

VoteOutToHelpOut · 04/07/2024 07:19

It's heeeeere!

Gorgeous day. Off to vote. Love you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Cheguevarahamster · 04/07/2024 07:22

Just voted, I was there when they opened and it was quite busy with queue. It's going to be a long day!

Escentricmolecule · 04/07/2024 07:22

We've just voted, in the children's old primary school, saw some parents I'd not seen in ages 😍. Not a big queue but a constant stream of people.

Rishiispushed · 04/07/2024 07:24

Voted already. Had to queue twice because my road was both sides and they didn't label which was which!!

It was busy at 6.59 am.

InMySpareTime · 04/07/2024 07:27

I live opposite my polling station and am glad to see a steady stream of people on the street holding polling cards already.
I've reminded my street WhatsApp about voting too (I think most of the politically engaged neighbours do a postal vote, but it's twice as far to walk to the post box as to the polling station)

NoDishiForRishi · 04/07/2024 07:30

I've already had to mute a couple of 'a vote for anyone but green/independent means you're a twat' people this morning. One rather blithely announced that a vote for Labour means you are 'ok with genocide' and the other insists on calling Keir Starmer 'Keith' and most likely still wouldn't be happy even if the greens did win.

It's gonna be a long day.

countrygirl99 · 04/07/2024 07:31

I'm in a small village and got to the polling station at 7.15. Usually that would put me in the first 2 or 3 voters but I was number 10 today and there were more people coming in while I was there. Don't know if that's an early indicator of turnout.

itsgettingweird · 04/07/2024 07:35

We just got back from ds swim training.

I'm off to work in a bit.

We will vote on the way back to training this evening Grin

TheInvisibleMann · 04/07/2024 07:47

I'm going to go to vote at lunchtime. Got to pick the DC up from the station in the next town so will stop on the way home. Then it's shopping for election night snacks, come home, print the bingo cards off and wait for the fun to start. I'm excited and apprehensive in equal measures.

TaraTories · 04/07/2024 07:49

The word 'superminority' always brings to mind those lads who drive farty cars...

Happy election day all!

medianewbie · 04/07/2024 07:52

Ds & I have voted. I got there at 6.45 (& was 1st in queue anyway!). Of course despite all the emergency medical proxy paperwork being correct yesterday council HQ had not emailed the actual senior voting officer so Ds 'not on the list'. I explained. A phone call was made. I was given Ds ballot paper & had choice of whether Ds vote was done before mine. Guess what I chose :)

medianewbie · 04/07/2024 07:53

So he was also 1st in the village. He's tickled pink :)

Brilliant news. You worked really hard for that. In time honoured tradition I’m taking the dogs to the polling station with me. I should get a picture to pay my tax on the next thread.

VoteOutToHelpOut · 04/07/2024 08:06

Polling Station was quiet when I was there but polling clerk said they had been pretty busy already. I really hope turn out is high.

TimeForRishiByeByes · 04/07/2024 08:08

I'm not allowed to wear red today I was specifically told this yesterday as I have to remain A political .... So I've worn pink.

TheOnlyMrsW · 04/07/2024 08:17

Happy election day - have voted already and was lovely and busy in our (v sleepy ward). Have the wonderful Amy Lee which seems apt today 😍, a bit jittery this morning...........

CassieMaddox · 04/07/2024 08:19

It's absolutely beautiful here! I'm excited. Woke up with a D:Ream ear worm (janes fault).
Might go dig something red out of my wardrobe

RishisLeavingDo · 04/07/2024 08:19

Happy election day!

I realised I don't have any red tops to wear to have opted for bright pink

No voting until later this aftenoon in the Toffee household

Morning all. The day has finally dawned. Friend coming over first thing then will strolling down to the polling station to vote.

L1ttledrummergirl · 04/07/2024 08:25

Happy voting day.

I can't vote until this evening so I'm going prepared to queue around the park. Dd has to go thus afternoon, so hopefully it won't be so bad for her.

Notonthestairs · 04/07/2024 08:28

Great work medianewbie.
And I hope the transport holds up today Itsgettingweird.

Haven't voted yet - it will be later on today for me.

Owlbookend · 04/07/2024 08:31

For anyone feeling nervous (like me) check out the election playmobil thread - it is a very cute distraction.
