If you currently have a Tory MP

have they been canvassing in your area?

I have a Tory MP - majority of just over 10k so he will probably lose his seat but not definitely.

The Labour candidate has sent me an entire tree worth of leaflets, had more than one canvasser round and is constantly in the local press meeting people and planting trees.

The Lib Dem candidate has sent me half a tree worth of leaflets and sent a canvasser round.

The pro life independent candidate has sent me a leaflet with lots of pictures of unborn babies on.

The slightly scary anti covid vaccine independent candidate has sent me a leaflet.

The very very scary time travel independent candidate has managed to pull himself together long enough send me a leaflet. It doesn’t make any sense but he managed to get it printed and put it in my letter box.

But from my actual Tory MP - not a sausage.

4 out of 6 candidates have posted leaflets, none have door knocked ( although we are not in the centre of town) only ones who haven’t are Lib Dem’s and Reform. We are usually a conservative strong hold so will be interesting to see if that changes

KatPurrson · 02/07/2024 21:08

Kind of. We have a Tory MP. But the boundaries got redrawn so now two constituencies have part of the old one.

But any way, he stood down so concentrate on his Scottish Parliament work.

But then muscled his way in to the constituency now next door (recently redrawn) due to Tory candidate being ill. Apparently.

And he has been canvassing that. But judging by local social media it hasn’t been going too well for him on the door step.

LocalHobo · 02/07/2024 21:09

Safe Tory seat, loads of leaflets but our only visit was from the Lib Dem's, who told me I would waste my vote were it for anyone but them or the sitting Tory. DS, has received personally addressed mail from Rishi but nothing for me, DH or DD. Can't figure out the logic as DD and DS are within 22 months of each other and late teens, early twenties.

My actual Tory mp is standing down. He is useless.

New one - parachuted in, third time trying to be a mp. Has several sideline jobs. Says he's been canvassing but looks like he just turned up and took a picture on the green for social media. Have had a couple of leaflets.
Only other canvasser was Labour. Will vote that way as they are interested in local issues.
And anyway living in safe seat sucks.

FrenchFancie · 02/07/2024 21:11

I have a slice of ham as a Tory MO. Sadly it’s something like the 40th safest Tory seat so, despite the fact that he can’t be bothered, I fully expect him to be returned on Friday.

the young-ish labour guy has sent loads of leaflets and we have been doorstepped several times by campaigners for the Labour Party.

don’t even think the Lib Dem’s are standing as we have heard nothing at all from them.

Thegreatgiginthesky · 02/07/2024 21:12

We are in a former Tory stronghold. Our previous Tory MP quit and one of the minions for his replacement came round a few weeks ago but have not been back. They seem to have accepted that lib dems will get in this time, 98% chance according to polling.

easterbuns1 · 02/07/2024 21:14

According to social media he has been out and about. Sticking to naice areas though, I doubt he will darken my council house door.

CervixSampler · 02/07/2024 21:21

My current Tory MP is busy hiding at his mummy's house, desperately checking his WhatsApps after the dating app scandal. His potential replacement is rather quiet too. We've been trying to get Willy out for years but he completely misunderstood what anyone meant by that and has gone down in history for getting his willy out.

The Labour candidate has been very present and visible and is lovely. The Lib Dems could be done for harassment with the amount of shite they post through my letter box despite a sign on it saying not to. If I catch them I either run after them saying no thank you or if quick I confuse them by shoving their shite back through the letter box before it's hit the mat. The greens are nowhere to be seen. The independent climate change denying numpty has also been absent after an embarrassing result in the local elections. It was a fairly safe Tory seat but after the Willy scandal it's not looking good.

darksigns · 02/07/2024 21:27

The recycling bin is full of leaflets but we haven’t seen any of them in person.

Anonym00se · 02/07/2024 21:32

I don’t think they’d waste their money, we haven’t had a single Tory MP in our city in over 40 years, so they’ve got zero chance now. Saying that, we’ve not heard a peep from our Labour MP either, even on social media.

MrsSpencerCharnas · 02/07/2024 21:32

Got plenty of leaflets, but no knock on the door as far as I'm aware by any of them.
Then again my MP is Rishi so is probably more concerned about the whole UK voting Tory than just us in his constituency. He'll win this seat anyway so he doesn't really need to. I guess its just by how much (or little). Then he'll step down and I'll have to vote again when his replacement will just win anyway.

AnneElliotsBestFriend · 02/07/2024 21:37

Mine came to our area a couple of months ago. He has been our MP from before 2019 but has never come canvassing in my area before. Stood at the end of my drive but didn’t come to my door himself, sent one of his henchmen first (presumably to check if it was safe). He was in Liz Truss’s cabinet and was given a knighthood by Boris Johnson. Hopefully will not be my MP much longer

Doobydoo · 02/07/2024 21:41

Loads fromTory, including 2 addressed to ds1 who is 24 and NOT Tory. None of us are. Huge Tory majority where I am....has been for yonks. I would love the Tory MP to go. They are a Paediatrician in the NHS married to a farmer. We don't even have a bus service where I live anymore. I think one leaflet from Lib Dems.

freakinthespreadsheets · 02/07/2024 21:43

Yes. Our Tory MP is the only one running a half sensible campaign, addressing local peoples actual concerns and speaking to the electorate. We haven't heard from the Labour candidate apart from some generic flyers (she's too busy being a Councillor for a different area of the city) and the Reform one is an illuminati-made-the-covid-vaccine-the-government-are-all-lizards type. No other options in the area.
It almost makes me want to vote for him, he actually seems a decent bloke and lived here all his life apart from when he served in the army. Very passionate about mental health, veteran reintegration etc and is really responsive to local people raising issues and has sorted a lot of things out for them even before the election was called, despite not being the MP currently (that would be lizard boy). I'd like for him to be my local MP but labour to get in overall, tbh.

Lovemusic82 · 02/07/2024 21:44

The only leaflets I have had through the door are for reform and Green Party. Torries are likely to stay in here but Lib Dem’s we’re very close behind their back in the locals.

GetawayCar · 02/07/2024 21:47

Had leaflets from all of them in the post. Two different ones from the Tory MP who isn’t our existing MP and isn’t remotely local. I’m not sure he has even visited the constituency. Certainly nobody has been to the door to canvas for a vote. Kind of pointless as the Tories could put a stuffed toy up in our area and it would get in. One of their safest seats. Maybe that’s why nobody is bothering.

LittleLlama · 02/07/2024 21:48

I am in a Tory seat which is likely to become Labour, according to the Polls. Boundary changes have also helped the Labour candidate. I have had leaflets from Labour, Conservatives, Liberals and Green Party (nothing from Reform or the independent candidate). I have also had a leaflet about tactical voting.

AnneElliotsBestFriend · 02/07/2024 21:49

I am in the neighbouring constituency to you and my MP isSimon Clarke

Cornishclio · 02/07/2024 21:50

Nothing from my conservative mp until a flyer yesterday and Facebook video message today. I sincerely hope she loses her seat but I doubt it will happen.

CatsLikeBoxes · 02/07/2024 21:52

I've had labour knocking at my door twice, but not seen anyone from the other parties. Leaflets from labour, con & reform. But I do get emails from the Tory telling me what he's done for the area - according to him he is responsible for pretty much everything eg a new A&E, stopping unpopular planning, facial recognition use by police etc etc.
Also on Nextdoor regularly people pop up to sing his praises vociferously.
I hope he loses but it's been held by them forever

Againname · 02/07/2024 21:54

My constituency was Tory but is possibly going to change to Labour this time.

No door knocking from anyone and only had two leaflets. One from the Tory, one from Labour. Nothing from any of the other parties.

Don't think any seem that bothered about here.

LadyRoughDiamond · 02/07/2024 22:06

Yes, something came through the letterbox, but you’d never have guessed she was a Tory from the leaflet - no mention of the Conservative party, no Tory blue colours, no tree logo.

Unfortunately she has an absolutely huge majority and so I think we’re stuck with the old soak.

Andthereitis · 02/07/2024 22:15

We only got leaflets for most of them today..via the postman I think.
Crap for the postal voters.

BobnLen · 02/07/2024 22:16

They probably only canvass in certain towns and streets, probably nicer ones, it's easier to just whack a load of stuff in the post, this is all the parties, not just Tory.

CatStoleMyChocolate · 02/07/2024 22:22

Are they only writing to men?! That’s four of us who live with men who’ve had personal letters from the Conservatives when none of the women in the household have…..
