If you currently have a Tory MP

have they been canvassing in your area?

I have a Tory MP - majority of just over 10k so he will probably lose his seat but not definitely.

The Labour candidate has sent me an entire tree worth of leaflets, had more than one canvasser round and is constantly in the local press meeting people and planting trees.

The Lib Dem candidate has sent me half a tree worth of leaflets and sent a canvasser round.

The pro life independent candidate has sent me a leaflet with lots of pictures of unborn babies on.

The slightly scary anti covid vaccine independent candidate has sent me a leaflet.

The very very scary time travel independent candidate has managed to pull himself together long enough send me a leaflet. It doesn’t make any sense but he managed to get it printed and put it in my letter box.

But from my actual Tory MP - not a sausage.

No visits from any of them. We're rural. Safe Tory seat, probably. Millions of leaflets, including a Tory one so much like a comic, aimed at the youngsters presumably, that my Tory friend chucked it out without noticing it wss from him. DH has had personal letters from Tories and Lib Dems I had my first one today (Tory). And there's me thinking his vote was more valuable than mine!
Our MP has been OK actually. I thought he was squeaky clean, until I heard that his team set it up that when you go on his Lib Dem rival's website you get taken through to his (Tory) instead! Low.

Shed loads of labour leaflets, post addressed to us specifically, and canvassing. I am also receiving texts about twice a day from labour because my teenage son is a Labour Party member and I must have put my phone number in when I did his membership. They get an A for effort.

A few leaflets from conservatives but nothing like from labour, and the odd one from the others (DH is just proofreading the Lib. Dem. one and spotting all their terrible typos).

There’s been a change in boundaries and we have switched from a very very Tory constituency to one that’s still very Tory but with labour second instead of Lib Dems. I think the bit where I live is the only part of the new constituency with an average age below 70, hence why we’re being targeted by labour so heavily,

Summerfreezemakesmedrinkwine · 02/07/2024 20:11

We are in a constituency that regularly changes hands and was won in 2019 with a nudge over 5000 votes. We have had a metric tonne of literature delivered but not one solitary canvasser at the door. Hopeless.

OH we had a Reform leaflet through the letterbox - didn't say anything about our local candidate, not even his name.

HeddaGarbled · 02/07/2024 20:12

Yes, neck & neck with Lib Dems here so they’re both working hard. Village fetes aren’t having the usual problem of finding someone to open them 😃

NoDishiForRishi · 02/07/2024 20:12

At least 4 leaflets from Labour, one from the Lib Dem's, nothing from the greens, reform, any independents or the incumbent Tory. I'm quite confident he's going to be shown the door decisively.

stopringingme · 02/07/2024 20:12

Letters addressed to all adults in the household from the Conservatives also leaflets.

Leaflets from Reform, Independent, Greens and Labour.

All leaflets have been delivered by Royal Mail.

Never had anyone on the doorstep in any election in over 20 years of living here.

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/07/2024 20:12

No visits from anyone but I’ve got Labour posters and placards up.

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/07/2024 20:13

Oh and Tory boy MP only sent a leaflet addressed to dh so he can fuck off anyway.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 02/07/2024 20:13

No personal visits but not surprising, you take your life in your hands knocking on the neighbours door. Our tory mp is responsible for us no longer having any trees left, its been very full on from him. Couple from Labour, 1 from lib dem, Green and reform nothing from the workers party.

DontBiteTheCat · 02/07/2024 20:13

Nothing from my Tory MP.

Lots of leaflets from my Labour candidate and she knocked on my door on Saturday for a chat. Lovely, level headed local woman and she has my vote.

Nothing from any other party.

WiseBiscuit · 02/07/2024 20:14

The only people we have heard from
is our Conservative MP, then today one tiny leaflet from the Green.

NorthernMouse · 02/07/2024 20:14

I also did a count of roadside posters when driving through Tory heartland recently. Mid June there were a few Lib Dem posters but no Tory. They must have just been a bit slow with the printing as when I did the same route a week ago it was 5:4 Tory to Lib Dem. Plus a solitary labour poster.

TheFTrain · 02/07/2024 20:15

Lib Dem have been very proactive. We've spoken to the Lib Dem campaigner twice (it's not hard as they live on our road) and had many leaflets through the letterbox. Not much from our Tory MP at all, it's as if she has given up. And I don't think we've had anything from Labour but they don't have a chance around here.

MissyB1 · 02/07/2024 20:18

Lots of letters and leaflets from Lib Dem, couple of leaflets ftom the Tory MP. Ed Davey has been to the town a couple of times, he was in the Lido the other day doing water aerobics. Nothing from Labour but they never win here.

Urghears · 02/07/2024 20:18

Maria (Cauliflower?) is our current Tory MP in Lewes. Anything from any party that comes through my door goes straight in the recycling.

The whole system is broken.

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 02/07/2024 20:18

Our Tory MP is standing down and we've had nothing from the new candidate. I'd struggle to remember their name and I'm someone who likes to research each candidate. We've had loads of leaflets and canvassing from Labour and lib Dems as it's likely to be close between them I think.

FaintlyMacabre · 02/07/2024 20:22

Conservative stronghold here at risk from Labour. We’ve had a Labour canvasser round but no one else. Leaflets from Tories, Lib Dem (who incidentally misrepresented the poll data to make it look like they were the main contenders), Reform and Green.

Churchview · 02/07/2024 20:22

I haven't seen one Tory poster up anywhere....and I've been driving through rural Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Gloucestershire during the last few weeks.

yikesanotherbooboo · 02/07/2024 20:26

Safe conservative seat; no canvassers of any description.
Leaflets have been dropped in from independent and greens. There are a smattering of Lib Dem posters around and as of this week a few Conservative posters have popped up . We live very close to another safe Conservative constituency where there appear to be no blue posters at all .

mindutopia · 02/07/2024 20:26

Nope, nothing from him. I’ve been told he’s not bothering. Probably too busy hiding funds in tax avoidance schemes and representing dodgy clients in his private law practice, which seems to be how he spends most of his time as an MP.

Snerl · 02/07/2024 20:27

Tory MP here since the 50s. We've had a few leaflets from each party (including a pro-life party that seems to be running on just that one issue - I wonder if we're in the same constituency, OP?) but no visits. The leaflets seem to be dropped during the night, too. I go to bed relatively early (9 or 10pm), and the leaflets are usually on the doormat when I get up around 6am. It's like they don't want to risk having to interact in person 🤷🏽‍♀️
I think we might finally get a Labour MP this year.

Geiyotue · 02/07/2024 20:28

Yes. I've had loads from the lib dem, and a single leaflet each from the conservative, Labour and independent candidates. Not sure if we had anything from the greens.

unsync · 02/07/2024 20:31

Yes. He's long sitting and has actually done a lot of good work for his constituency. He also knows that women don't have penises. If the rest of them were more like him, things might not have turned out the way they have.

Darkfire · 02/07/2024 20:32

My Tory MP is likely to lose his seat to Labour (or Reform if you
believe a recent local FB poll).

He joined the local Facebook pages a few weeks before the election was announced. He’s a cabinet minister that has now made himself more visible on local issues. There are now plenty of promises about what he will do if he continues to represent us - issues that are not new!

There are regular FB posts detailing where he’s been canvassing.

This morning the postman delivered 4 different leaflets from Labour.
