I’m OK in real life, but not the least bit photogenic šŸ˜‚

You?

PangolinPan · 01/07/2024 20:14

Nope. People generally ignore me and never remember me (in spite of being relatively distinctive due to my ethnicity).
No male attention although DP still acts like a 16 year old around me, which is a bit weird as he's seeing something no one else does!

I was working with a model a little while ago and it was was crazy how many men found a reason to say hello etc. Full on.

I'm pretty happy about it really, I wouldn't want all the sexual harassment that attractive women get, although people being nicer to me would be nice for a day!

leeverarch · 01/07/2024 20:14

God no. I hate having my photo taken as I always look dreadful. Had to suffer a family get-together recently, photos galore and I hate my pic in every one of them.

DH is surprisingly photogenic (no idea why, he's well ordinary) and DD is just gorgeous anyway, so standing next to them I stick out like a sore thumb.

MrsSpencerCharnas · 01/07/2024 20:18

Fuck no!!!!
I have been thinking about this a while now. I'm mid 40's, but look old and haggard. My main issue is that I'm not good a make-up or style and just don't bother. Too scared to look like a clown to have a go. Also make-up rarely stays on all day anyway and I just forget to top it up throughout the day.

JosephMerrick · 01/07/2024 20:19

Not really. But I'm told I have great bone structure.

Moonlightstaralight · 01/07/2024 20:22

Well they say "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" . Perhaps that's why some of the posters on this thread look in the mirror and consider themselves beautiful?
It just comes over as so self satisfied.

allaboardtheplaybus · 01/07/2024 20:27

I've got to be honest, I have absolutely no idea.

I don't think I have any stand out features that I would class as "ugly". I've had people compliment my smile and my hair before. But genuinely I have no clue if I'm attractive in any way. I'd be quite interested to find out.

uxie · 01/07/2024 19:43

I don't think I look too bad when I put a face full of make up on and do my hair, otherwise I think I look like I've been dead for 3 weeks.

🤣🤣 This really tickled me. I also feel this way but couldn't have expressed it so well 🤣🧟

They also say if you don't like, love or appreciate yourself then why would anyone else.

It's such a British thing to never admit that just perhaps you may not scare children and animals.

protectoroftherealm · 01/07/2024 20:30

I'm 'quite' good looking. I have a nice face but years of eating problems have left my body skin less than plump but clothed no one can see that so I look slim & good. However, I take horrific pictures!

bryceQ · 01/07/2024 20:31

I'm happy with how I look. I'm lucky in certain regards I have nice hair and full lips and clear skin. I rarely wear proper make up and it's a revelation to feel comfortable in my skin now. I try not to dwell on the bits I'm not so keen on and just think they are part of me.

Lostworlds · 01/07/2024 20:33

Nope! I look back of photos from me in my twenties and think I looked okay but now early thirties, 2 children and feeling awful. Just spoke to my dh tonight about the idea of getting fillers and stuff done but he politely says I don’t need it.
I look in the mirror and hate how I look. Wish I had sisters or closer friends to tell me what suits me etc

Staringatthewalljustmeagain · 01/07/2024 20:33

Not especially but I’ve been told I am. I get plenty of attention when out, which I dislike intensely.

Other people telling you that you are beautiful/ nice looking etc is one thing. Being quietly confident you look good is fair enough.
But to actually go round telling people " I'm beautiful " is just so unappealingly self absorbed and vain.

the80sweregreat · 01/07/2024 20:37

No, not at all! Never been a looker and I look awful in photos too

gimmegimmegimmeagin · 01/07/2024 20:39

I'm kind of saddened by this thread. Very few people have commented to say yes. Most are saying they're overweight, look awful, bad haircut.
I'm no Cindy Crawford, I'm mid 50s heavier than I'd like to be and my hair and skin often have that lack lustre menopausal curse, but, I smile, I like to have fun and i have a relatively positive outlook on life. That's what I think makes you attractive. Be kind to yourself ladies ā¤ļø

JMAngel1 · 01/07/2024 20:39

Passable with a shit ton of effort.
Au naturale? Lord no!

StormingNorman · 01/07/2024 20:40

A solid 5/10

Rhinohides · 01/07/2024 20:40

Yes, photographic evidence to the contrary has been faked!!!

Toooldtoworry · 01/07/2024 20:43

Currently, no but I'm 3st overweight. I'm aiming to get to healthy weight by next year. I am 47, and I imagine at least bordering perimenopausal.

BrieAndChilli · 01/07/2024 20:43

God no. I sometimes look in the mirror ans think ok you’re oassable today and then see photos from the same day and look like a troll. I do not photograph well at all! But because evwryone looks like how i see them in ojotos i kust look like that troll to other people in real life!

TheChosenTwo · 01/07/2024 20:44

Haha another one here who looks nice in the mirror and then sees someone totally different in a photo šŸ˜‚

JennyfromtheBlok · 01/07/2024 20:44

I definitely look better in the summer. I’ve been away and have a sun kissed look (yes I know it’s sun damage)
So am wearing less makeup now and enjoying feeling ā€˜glowing’.

Im early 40’s. I do look younger, I eat very healthily and exercise.

Have good and bad days with appearance like most people I expect. But overall I’m fine with how I look.

TempersFuggit · 01/07/2024 20:47

God no, I look look like a ginger Timothy Spall. Luckily I am what my grandma called vivacious, and grew up before Instagram and internet dating!

PosingPosture20 · 01/07/2024 20:48

Yes I think so. Not double-take beautiful but reasonably attractive day to day and I can scrub up very well for special occasions.

My skin is the best thing about me. It's very clear and I have no wrinkles yet at nearly 38, which I think takes a few years off me...people are often surprised at my age. But by that I mean I think most people age me at early rather than late 30's, not the typical mn 'oh I'm 40 but people always think I'm 21' šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Thetroutofnocraic1 · 01/07/2024 20:49

I was not a very pretty teen but got lots of attention in my 20s to early 30s. I’d imagine most women do though. Now I’m in my late 30s and a mum I’ve basically become invisible to men. It’s sad but I don’t miss walking by groups of men and having disgusting sexual comments thrown my way.
