Just back from Kings of Leon at BST Hyde park

What a lovely venue

Have been dying to see Paulo Nutini for a long time and he just seemed so spaced out

Kings of Leon were super as always

To the side of the large stage was a warm up act and my god they were the greatest i have ever seen

When I was a teen I went to see Eric Clapton with my mum.
He was good, professional as you would expect. But ZZ Top who were supporting him? Amazing

Agree with this. Went to see them at the International in Manchester mid 80's with a friend who was a huge fan. I wasn't particularly bothered but they were brilliant as were their support Fairground Attraction with the excellent Eddie Reader.

Went to see them again in Leeds last year and again brilliant. Downloaded Raintown after the gig and just found it ok. Definitely a better band live.

I think Raintown is an amazing album

@Funkyslippers

That's exactly the one I went to! I liked them but wasn't a huge fan but the group was staying at the hotel I was working at and have us tickets. Turned into a huge fan after that!

Wow, what a coincidence! It was my first ever experience of live music

Yes, a lot more charismatic and engaging than I expected and a superb concert.

I've seen Will Young a couple of times and enjoyed both gigs. He didn't sing Evergreen at the first one but he sung it first thing at the second one. It was absolutely beautiful. I honestly felt that if that was all I'd been there to see I would have left happy.

Loved Noel Gallagher. Turns up on time, no naff support. Does the gig and buggers off on time!

A very relaxing concert for the audience. No diva behaviour…oh and he can sing 😊

Edited

Except he had Tom Meighan the wife beater as support last year...
I'm lifelong Gallagher fan but sold my ticket when support was announced despite being so excited to hear Council Skies album live. Was gutted.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 01/07/2024 12:56

There was a Download festival in the early 2000s when Jonathan Davis of Korn was taken ill on the day and loads of other vocalists including Corey Tayler and M Shadows stepped in and did a song or two each, was really cool!

Still not seen Korn with Jonathan though :(

chimichangaz · 01/07/2024 13:13

@thisisasurvivor yes, disappointed he'd slagged Taylor off a few days beforehand. Thought of him differently after that tbh.

Always loved them

Shame he felt the need to do that ?!!

Not as good as imagined- Beyonce. There was little to no interaction with the crowd, you could tell even the little thank you speeches were rehearsed. Amazing voice, obviously! But I came away with no sense of her as a person.

Her most recent shows ? Last year ?

We saw The Killers supported by Travis a few weeks ago, didn't enjoy The killers as much as I thought I would but LOVED Travis!

I saw Paulo Nutini about 10 years ago and thought he was fab.

Travis are great aren't they

@CountTo10 ah I bet that was such a great concert to see
Yes I think they're so good to see live , the energy etc

incognitolady · 01/07/2024 14:47

Bloc Party
Bruce Springsteen
Faithless
Crystal Castles
Foster The People
The Killers funnily enough were one of my faves live. The crowd was buzzing.
And Fleetwood Mac!

Foxlover46 · 01/07/2024 14:48

dontforgetme · 01/07/2024 09:36

Really shocked at others people's experiences with RHCP. I thought they were fucking brilliant!!

Also agree with pp who said machine gun Kelly. He was amazing and the whole show rocked from start to finish.

@dontforgetme this is the first time I've ever seen anyone else write about enjoying a Mgk concert !! That's hyped me In itself , he's brilliant live and the band the staging , the crowd interaction etc

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 01/07/2024 14:50

Not me but dd. Her fil gives them corporate tickets occasionally and they went to see Coldplay. Neither are fans but they said it was amazing.

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/07/2024 01:37

Tom Jones live was bloody brilliant - I went with a friend who has been let down and has a spare ticket.

Foo Fighters secret morning gig at the V Festival was fantastic. Have seen them a few times and that was special.

Oasis were shit live when I saw them. Didn't want be there.

Other amazing lives: Amy Winehouse, Crowded House, Counting Crows, The Vaccines

The vaccines also played at the weekend

They were superb

We are going to KOL on Saturday, can’t wait!
Blossoms were surprisingly great both times I saw them.
Richard Ashcroft supporting Pearl Jam last week was epic!

I was raging to have missed Richard Ashcroft & Peral jam, the prices are just so prohibitive, seeing Kings this weekend

dontforgetme · 01/07/2024 14:57

@Foxlover46 plus he is completely fucking gorgeous!!

I have his sun to me cover on repeat today.

Ilovegoldies · 01/07/2024 15:00

Status Quo. Absolutely amazing. I always said I hated them. I took the piss out of them. Pretend rock. Well, they were fantastic. I went with a boyfriend who liked them prepared to have a shit time but they were fantastic.
Beyonce last year was really not great imo. I'm not a huge fan but she's made some decent pop records. I left feeling cheated as she did hardly any of her old stuff.
Luckily I work in a stadium so I don't pay to watch many gigs. This year I've seen Pink, Taylor and The Foo Fighters..
Another gig I was pleasantly surprised by was Coldplay. I would definitely see them again despite never being a massive fan previously.

Her most recent shows ? Last year ?

Yes, we were at the Newcastle show.
I have seen her previously, maybe 2012? And that was a bit more lively, but it was about the time Michael Jackson had died, she dedicated halo to him and was a little emotional. I don't agree with him causing that emotion, but at least it felt like she was there, present, in the moment.

Ah yes he's soooo stunning , that jawline too 😍 I love sun to me , his vocals are just pure talent !
I'll never get over how much abuse this man takes online

Minime88888888 · 01/07/2024 15:52

The Cure, Bestival, 2011.
Beautiful.

Meadowwild · 01/07/2024 15:56

Suzanne Vega. I went because she was playing my two favourite of her albums back to back. Otherwise I might not have bothered.

Wow. Her voice at 50 was as pure and strong as ever. She was also incredibly funny and told great gossipy stories about herself that had everyone laughing. I came away utterly smitten. She was so beautiful too. It was very inspiring to see a middle aged woman look so stunning and vibrant.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 01/07/2024 16:00

Busted, supported by McFly, way back in the 2000s.

Bought tickets for niece and a friend for her Christmas present, and one for my sister who would be taking her. DSis bailed so I had to go, and was bloody dreading it.

It was epic.

Best gig I’d been to in years!

dontforgetme · 01/07/2024 16:56

@Foxlover46 I completely agree. He is so talented. I've actually had the piss ripped out of me for loving his music so much but I just direct them to gfy on Spotify I only really got into him after he released the tickets album, now I absolutely love every record he's ever done!

I saw him on the mainstream sellout tour but defo planning on seeing him every time he comes to my town now!

CraftyEms · 01/07/2024 17:08

Glad you enjoyed it. We’re there Thursday, what was it like leaving the park? I’ve never been to a concert there so wondering if it’s as bad leaving as I’m expecting. We were going to get tube back from Marble Arch to Shepherds Bush but thinking might be easier to walk half way then get a taxi? Tia
