Angry at Wandsworth prison officer.

You may have heard or unfortunately seen the female prison officer having sex in a prison cell whilst been filmed . Her number visible on epaulette and her wedding ring clearly seen. On so many levels totally wrong.
I work in a male prison and have done for many years. I do a damn good job and am fair but firm and know I have the respect off the men. We do a challenging job in difficult situations but we are professional and caring.
Today Twitter is full of comments that women shouldn’t work in male jails or comments that make it seem all women are working there to be around men.
As well as the security aspect - she has made our job so much harder. I hope she sees prison from the other side of the bars.

Yeah I get what you mean.

It's like when Zara Aleena's killer Jordan McSweeney was caught snogging a female prison worker at Belmarsh.

Totally sickening and only served to heap even more pain upon Zara's family.

Sickening.

Thevelvelletes · 29/06/2024 00:22

The security implications are huge, blackmail, drugs, phones etc.

Ginkypig · 29/06/2024 01:02

She’s a fucking disgrace to the profession!

it’s not different to a nhs worker sleeping with a patient or teacher sleeping with a student.

@Underlockandkey try your best to ignore the ignorant comments this is absolutely no reflection on you and anyone with even a tiny amount of logic would know that!

BigDahliaFan · 29/06/2024 09:28

Just seen it. Bloody hell, what was she thinking?

DancingLions · 29/06/2024 09:52

The problem is these areas are so short staffed, that they’re taking anyone these days. Have seen it myself in another part of the CJS. People with no experience who haven’t got a clue.

From what I read, she already had an only fans account prior to this so she probably doesn’t even care. Will just bring her more subscribers. From what I can gather, she knew the guy was filming, what did she think would happen?

I personally think it’s good to have female officers in male prisons. Tones down all the testosterone flying about. It can also teach a level of respect towards women that may well have been lacking. Then someone like her ruins all the good work that’s been done. So I fully understand your anger OP. I hope they throw the book at her.

Underlockandkey · 29/06/2024 10:31

I agree - a lot do with vetting. Some officers go through training without actually setting foot in a prison. We have very young officers working straight from training ( which involves a lot of zoom courses) who are not legally old enough to be sent to this prison. We have prisoners in their 40s who are in crisis who don’t feel comfortable talking to 18 year olds who still live with mom and dad.
The more I read about this bl00dy woman the angrier I get - she was on a Channel 4 programme about swinging, has an only fans page - how did they think she would make a good prison officer. Next shift will be fun with all the comments and innuendos.

icelolly12 · 29/06/2024 11:12

How on earth did they see her a suitable person to employ in a male prison?

She was on channel 4 so not exactly hard to find her history - a simply google search would have demonstrated how unsuitable she was for this.

I think it is dangerous for females to work in male prisons and all the high testosterone will lead to some unsavoury behaviour and thoughts/fantasies- these prisons are filled with dangerous predators, rapists, murderers. Best to keep the staff men only imo.

She will financially benefit as this will massively boost her onlyfans which is probably why she was happy to be filmed! Plus the male prisoner will be loving the street cred. And others will be hoping for the same from other female officers.

Just vile.

I dont think this has winged its way to our prison yet.... nobody was talking about it yesterday anyway!

I agree with all the comments on here..... just hold our heads high and carry on, bad apples are everywhere!

It's trending on X/twitter and all over the Daily mail etc so there's not a chance they won't hear about it.

OhHelloMiss · 29/06/2024 11:17

@icelolly12 have you worked in a prison before?

icelolly12 · 29/06/2024 11:21

OhHelloMiss · 29/06/2024 11:17

@icelolly12 have you worked in a prison before?

I don't need to have worked in a prison before to know that women are in very vulnerable situations when working with dangerous criminals.

The fact that there are so many reports of women having sex and relationships with male prisoners (from a quick google search) shows that these women are able to spend one on one time with these prisoners. It may be consensual but could quickly take a dark turn.

A bunch of men not having sex is going to lead to them fantasising over any female they have contact with. Given the fact they are criminals, it is unsafe position to be placed in imo.

pinkfondu · 29/06/2024 11:24

Op huge respect to you. The prison service isn't given the respect it deserves and then something I've this comes out. Thank you for the job you do

OhHelloMiss · 29/06/2024 11:26

We are no more 'unsafe' working in male prisons as a male officer is @icelolly12

I never feel under threat but I'm always aware. I won't stop doing my job, attending cells etc etc because of a few stupid women!

TobaccoFlower · 29/06/2024 11:28

Well done for doing a hard job @Underlockandkey
It sounds like you do it very well. Try and drown out the people saying women shouldn't do it. They'll move on to the next moan soon and probably don't do anything worthwhile themselves

Yes how awful to think women should put their safety first and avoid putting themselves at risk

Illdoittommorow · 29/06/2024 11:32

Oh well when MOJ sold of all the prison officers officers subsidised accomodatiion in Wandsworth, did they think all the experienced officers could afford family accommodation in the area? Hence the lack of experienced staff. QED

ALovelyCupOfNameChange · 29/06/2024 11:49

Yanbu op. I’d imagine a lot of police feel the same about Wayne couzins and his ilk.

I think women are an important part of men’s prisons. Sometimes women can diffuse a situation and be less threatening in tricky situations.

OhHelloMiss · 29/06/2024 11:58

@ALovelyCupOfNameChange Thankyou....I think us women do too. In fact I know it. I'm off to iron my shirt now and to get ready for todays shift

My head is held high!

HRTQueen · 29/06/2024 12:02

YANBU op

but she has only let herself down

I work mh with offenders and having a balance of men and women in the team is vital, when you have all men there is more aggression. We have had both male and female staff most ate great the odd one that we have found out once employed and trained (sometimes after quite a while) that they are not suitable for the job and it’s often about boundaries thinking they are friends often comes from wanting to be liked and be a favourite 🙄

one bank member of staff we soon dropped she flirted and loved the attention I heard a few months later she had got a job in prison and soon left I can guess why

HRTQueen · 29/06/2024 12:13

Working in prisons is a very hard but many are dedicated and should get the respect (and wage) they deserve it’s not a job I could do and thank you to those that do professionally (which I believe is the vast majority)

rumnraisins · 29/06/2024 12:24

I’m sorry to say but this to me is another example of how liberalism fails when it goes too far.

We aren’t allowed to judge anyone’s behaviour anymore, all lifestyles are ‘valid’ etc. I can guarantee you that if this woman had been vetted and denied employment due to having an onlyfans account and starting in a documentary of sort about swingers, there would have been an outcry about ‘patriarchy’ and she would have likely won a discrimination case in a tribunal.

So, if people, male or female, cannot be judged unfit for a job based on their behaviour, we will see more and more of this sort of thing. Same goes for teachers, healthcare workers etc. If anything is permitted, then these are the consequences.
