He's miles behind his peers, he has next to no head control, he can't sit without support, he's nowhere near being able to walk. He is preverbal and he is very much in his own world but BUT he is beginning to smile when he means 'Yes please, I'd like to do that" and that is a huge, huge step for him. Huge.

That’s just fabulous. May he go from strength to strength.

HalfWomanHalfChocolate · 28/06/2024 20:59

Nope. I’m not crying.

I have a special boy too. Older, and somewhat different, but I know how amazing it feels to have those breakthrough moments of communication. Enjoy your wonderful moment and your fabulous clever boy.

I’m off to give mine a big (just about tolerated 😂) kiss now.

itsgettingweird · 28/06/2024 21:22

That's AMAZING 🤩

I work in special Ed and support pupils with severe needs daily. Have done for decades.

I've shed many a tear over the years when pupils take those steps - especially ones where we know they can communicate their likes and dislikes. Such a simple thing people take for granted.

I'm so happy for you and ds. Flowers

Royaly82 · 28/06/2024 21:22
