He's miles behind his peers, he has next to no head control, he can't sit without support, he's nowhere near being able to walk. He is preverbal and he is very much in his own world but BUT he is beginning to smile when he means 'Yes please, I'd like to do that" and that is a huge, huge step for him. Huge.

How wonderful!!!! What a fantastic clever four year old you have. That will be all your love and effort to communicate that's helped him have this fantastic break through. I bet that smile just lights you up inside.

Allmarbleslost · 28/06/2024 19:49

Bloody brilliant op!

TheKoalaWhoCould · 28/06/2024 19:49

That’s great! And there will be more to come! My DS is 7 and also pre-verbal, with about 4 words, and last night he pointed at the TV and said ‘Taylor’ to get me to put Taylor Swift videos on for him. To say I was startled is an understatement!!

PurpleBugz · 28/06/2024 19:50

I remember nannying a non verbal 7 year old with CP. she couldn't sit or do anything just sat there. When I finally got a smile and I knew she liked what I'd done and repeated it for another smile. I knew what she wanted. She knew I knew. Was the most amazing feeling. I'm so happy for you it must be so much more moving when it's your own child! Well done the both of you

Gorgonemilezola · 28/06/2024 19:50
