King or super king bed?

Moving home very soon and would rather not go to the hassle of taking apart and putting back together our double bed frame… plus it will look tiny in our new bedroom!

A double was all we could fit in our new build room and tbh we have managed mostly fine with it but more space would definitely be ideal. We do like to sleep quite close to each other most nights. DH works shifts so for a good 30% of the time it is just one of us in bed.

We have lots of space in our new home and the current owners have had a super king comfortably in the room.

I am in the second trimester expecting our first baby and know we will probably end up with our toddler climbing into our bed in a couple of years time, but still not sure if we’d manage just fine in a king. I imagine bedding for a king size mattress is easier and cheaper to find, for starters!

What would you go for? Need to choose soon so I can order it :-) thank you

Super king. Every time. It’s a massive improvement for sleeping. You’ll never go back.,

HappiestSleeping · 25/06/2024 22:28

Super king. Without question. I have had one for 20 years now and it is fabulous.

Super King. We upgraded from a double a few years ago and I genuinely don’t know how we coped!

Boltonb · 25/06/2024 22:40

Superking. Bedding isn’t much more expensive. When we make our bed we can fit 3 pillows in a row across the top - it’s literally an extra person size. Will be very handy for a toddler joining you too 😀

Scarletttulips · 25/06/2024 22:40

Bigger the better!

if I had room we’d have a super king even if I’d break my neck putting the covers on!

Yes, of course. Each size is more expensive than the previous. But you only really need 2 nice sets and you're good.

MadMadMad · 25/06/2024 22:41

A super king would be nice but super king bedding with a king size bed is wonderful as there is no fighting over the covers!

bilbodog · 25/06/2024 22:41

Super king! Ive continued to use kingsize bedding on ours which is fine for us. You could splash out on a super king bedspread to make it look neater. Ive also known some people have 2 separate duvets as well.

beckybarefoot · 25/06/2024 22:41

superking for us too.... best thing we ever did.... was a pain getting the mattress in the house but now instead of me and hubby having to sqeeze in with the cat taking up all the room....

we squeeze in with 2 cats 😂

TricksyLiesmith · 25/06/2024 22:42

We upgraded from a king to a super king last year. Best decision ever . We both sleep so much better .
We bought bedding from
Dunelm which was great

ExitPursuedByABare · 25/06/2024 22:43

Super king.

Although it’s just me and the Spanna and I’m still clinging to the fucking edge.

SaltBlossom · 25/06/2024 22:43

My super king arrived today - I can't wait to go to bed!

MoonshineSon · 25/06/2024 22:43

Oh my god I would be divorced from my lovely DH if it wasn't for our super king. We have managed to sleep with 3 kids it in at one point (not anymore as they are all well over 6 foot 😂)

Guavafish1 · 25/06/2024 22:45

super king

Sogrownup3 · 25/06/2024 22:46

I'm going against the grain. I say king. We got a super king years ago as I was keen to have space for the babies etc . 10 years on I wish we had a king. I think my husband and I sleep so far away from each other we may as well be in separate beds. With a super king there is no accidental brushing up against someone - we can hardly reach each other if we put our arms out! I think a king would have been big enough but still been a bit more intimate. It feels like such a statement if either of us edge towards the middle of the bed as it's such a long way to go! Super King with a single duvet each 👌

BagFullOfNoodles · 25/06/2024 22:48

Super king every time. I love ours, I need space to sleep and if you're not sleeping the other person is hardly miles away. Also plenty of room for ds and the cat, which is nice on weekend mornings. I've not found bedding hard to find

SquashPenguin · 25/06/2024 22:49

Super king without question. Best decision we ever made. It’s beyond me how two adults can share a double bed now I’ve spent a few years in a super king!

Mother87 · 25/06/2024 22:49

Superking for 25 years - fabulous in every way & we still manage to cuddle when desiredGrin
