My personal trainer, my eyebrow lady, my weight trainer, my hairdresser are all abandoning me.

Last year I started a thread because I had a mild panic that my personal trainer was about to up and leave the city we live in. Here's the thread. She didn't leave. Good news and all has been well since.

But now she is actually going. And leaving the fucking country this time. So deja vu. But worse. I'm absolutely gutted. But I'd kind of mentally prepared myself last year so I can just about handle it.

This was about a week ago that she told me she was leaving.

In the seven or so days since:
My eyebrow lady told me that she's moving away to be closer to her parents.

The chap that leads the small-group, women-only weightlifting sessions that I go to said he's taking an undetermined break to restructure his business.

My hairdresser text me to say she's having another baby so after my next appointment, she won't be around until late-2025 if she comes back at all.

The fuck?! What have I done to all these people?!

I've tried venting to DP, he doesn't get it. Can you let me vent and wallow a bit, MN?

I was kind of motivated to seriously start exploring a new PT. But then I lost all will when I also realised I'd need to find a new eyebrow lady, weightlifting instructor and hairdresser. Or I could not bother, just let myself absolutely go to seed. It's clearly what these abandoning bastards want 😭😭

I know I'm going to sound like a complete knob-head but I suspect my PT is going to tell me that she's moving away when I meet her on Monday. She's...

Look on the bright side, at least your nail technician, skin care specialist, housekeeper, cleaner, nanny, gardener, window cleaner, cat sitter, dog walker, life coach, personal assistant and butler aren't going anywhere.

JaneJeffer · 25/06/2024 16:06

I recommend Shield soap and Triple Dry deodorant

I have lived 55 years without a PT, an eyebrow lady or a weight trainer; and with only occasional visits to whichever hairdresser I find cheap/available, and I'm just fine!

Me too 🤷🏽‍♀️ first world problems eh?

LeftBereft · 25/06/2024 15:47

Yeah, my eyebrow lady is replaceable (for want of a better phrase).

My hairdresser is not. My PT is not. Jury's out on weights training - I love the small-group, women-only that he runs and I've not found anything similar yet.

They are, they really are OP. You are just being dramatic.

S0livagant · 25/06/2024 16:12

I don't use any of those services and somehow I'm still alive.

Bunnyannesummers · 25/06/2024 16:13

You’ve got my sympathy OP. I have a sneaking suspicion my hairdresser is going to be moving to live with her boyfriend soon and changing to work near him, which means I won’t be able to go to her anymore. I will cry when it happens.

BusySittingDown · 25/06/2024 16:13

Aw no! You're gonna look like shit OP!

I'll pray for you.

Cathbrownlow · 25/06/2024 16:15

I get it OP, I moved to a different part of the country a couple of years ago and it took me a long time to settle down with new hairdresser, eyebrow lady, botox lady etc

Btw, I'm kidding. You'll be fine, hope you find replacements.

My hairdresser has given up hairdressing and I need to find someone else. It's not that I want her particularly, I only want a trim and I'd trust most tbh. It's just the thought of having to go to someone new.

shearwater2 · 25/06/2024 16:18

I train myself, have a tiny shaver thing for shaping eyebrows (which is all I ever do, and that is very infrequent) and have a good hairdresser but a simple style that is quite hard to mess up so other people can cut my hair ok.

Meadowwild · 25/06/2024 15:45

No one needs a specific eyebrow lady. I have yet to meet a brow beautician who does a measurably worse job than any other. Just get someone else to thread/wax/dye your brows and you'll realise it's fine.

Combine PT and weights person. Look for a PT who also offers bootcamp/weights classes. Or find a good weights trainer and ask if they also do PT.

Then have a good sob about hair. Finding the right hairdresser is a nightmare.

I've been going to the same eyebrow lady for threading for 15 years. She's a friend of mine now, and when she's not doing one weekend of eyebrows a month locally she works in one of the big London department stores. She's amazing. She's talking about retiring and I don't know what I'm going to do 😭

I get it, OP.

SeriaMau · 25/06/2024 16:20

Thoughts and prayers with you at this difficult time.

GreigeO · 25/06/2024 16:21

I read your opening line 'My personal trainer, my eyebrow lady, my weight trainer, my hairdresser' and thought it was going to be a thread about an annoying friend/MiL who prefaces service providers with 'my' all the time, and is thus annoying. I think it is telling that the 'my' is so prevalent in your titlE.

well done you.

I don't want to live like that 😂

It took me bloody ages to find a perfect eyebrow lady, and my hairdresser is golden.

OP, Sympathy. you can only ask for local recommendations and start another round of trial and error. You will find someone.

I do, and I look amazing thanks to them. I would not look anywhere near as good without them, I want to look better than just "alive".

Good eyebrows and the perfect haircut make a huge difference. Good body shape too!

Wildehorses · 25/06/2024 16:25

Genuinely astonished how many people have an “eyebrow lady”. Don’t think I have ever given mine a second glance, my brows have looked the same for 53 years, what needs to be done to them? Threading sounds painful!

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/06/2024 16:25

What problems some people have 😆

Re the PT why don't you as a group approach a few? I did a similar job and we're pretty easy to find on FB or Insta or even ask around at the gym?

@radio4everyday Who needs an eyebrow lady?

People like me who are completely inept at shaping their eyebrows so they look in any way similar to each other.

I have an eyebrow lady. I've tried going somewhere else because her time keeping is rubbish, but I never get the same results. it's frustrating when a regular service provider leaves but it's just one of those things.

pandasorous · 25/06/2024 16:29

you only have one option. leave it all behind, and live in a cave, as nature intended

What are 'good' eyebrows? I find good fresh local food, plenty of sunshine, walking and a physical job work wonders myself.

BigFatPuddingMonster · 25/06/2024 16:32

YABVU for using the word 'lady'.

horseyhorsey17 · 25/06/2024 16:32

It's a pain but in my experience, all this stuff has a shelf life of a couple of years anyway. People move on! If you wanted, your PT could probably train you online but they're never as good. There are loads of good PTs out there. Good hairdressers, in my opinion, are much harder to come by. I'll be gutted if mine ever moves away.

stressedespresso · 25/06/2024 16:33

radio4everyday · 25/06/2024 15:43

I was just thinking that!

Who needs an eyebrow lady?

People like me with fast growing, thick eyebrows that need regularly tamed + shaped by a professional. How can women getting their eyebrows done be an alien concept to you?

I'd look like Noel Gallagher if I left mine au naturel.
