meant to post this yesterday and forgot. You can search your constituency and see all the poll results for it.

Interesting. More in Common stand out there for low predictions for Labour and high for Tory. I thought they might have been more impartial.

Good to see nobody else agrees with Electoral Calculus about such a high reform figure.

pointythings · 28/06/2024 08:55

Surely we would go to 1: Starmer, and continue our discussions, and frankly hold the new government to account? The only reason we have been so partisan is the utter shitness of the Tories.

The Tory detonation and rebuild should also provide much fodder for discussions. What I live about these threads is that we come from a range of backgrounds and political positions and yet we can have intelligent and respectful discourse. I would hate to lose that.

We have been of once voice in most cases as we are all united in #GTTO. I think it will be more of a challenge post election as we do have a range of opinions. I really hope we can keep the lovely atmosphere of these threads even if we have more things to debate that we don't all agree on. I think we can.

I would love to be able to have debates about the issues of the day in a polite and rationale way, but it just does not seem to have been possible on other threads on here.

Zonder · 28/06/2024 09:34

Fingers crossed for these threads then @Afloatingvoter - hopefully we have more in common to quote Jo Cox.

Keegan is on LBC

https://x.com/Haggis_UK/status/1806608447812640959

Nick Ferrari: Boris Johnson, in 2020, pledged £1b for a major schools rebuilding programme... how many new schools have we built

Gillian Keegan: A couple of hundred

NF: That's 200 in 4 years?

GK: That's from 2010

NF: How many since 2020? GK: I've no idea.

I mean, she’s only the Education Secretary. You can’t expect her to keep on top of things like that.
Not to mention the schools that are closed/partially closed due to RAAC.

I think it is quite unreasonable to expect Gillian Keegan to know how many schools have been built. Who do they think she is, the education secretary responsible for schools or something?

That's what is so striking, isn't it? It's like there used to be grown ups and now the toddlers have taken over.

Well they were serious people. They had all fought in the war. They were not bloody thirsty or nationalist or desperate inadequate people with fantasies of control: they had seen the reality of that for themselves.

So they recognised the cost and necessity of a civilized debate.

Unlike our mega prat, little minded politicians of today.

L1ttledrummergirl · 28/06/2024 09:58

Well I like our little community and have come to respect and listen to your voices and points of views so I really hope we can continue.

DuncinToffee · 28/06/2024 10:05

I am on football threads where posters have managed to stay respectful towards eachother so I am sure these threads will be fine Grin

.

Is something important happening in six days?🤔

I think we should keep the threads going. We need to hold a Labour government to account as much as a Tory one. The threads might have less drama though!

@CassieMaddox I noticed on another thread there is a poster who has a rearrangement of your user name. Is that just coincidence or an attempt to wind you up?

user8800 · 28/06/2024 10:09

You governors predicts 34% con and labour in my constituency 😠

Bigcoatlady · 28/06/2024 10:11

I'm getting high on the fumes of constant antagonism and spite so I may not be able to return to civilised adult debate.

I'll be here shouting abuse after the election like the extreme centrist, Starmergeddon intoxicated, bile fuelled liberal I am.

bombastix · 28/06/2024 10:12

It may be odd. A return to the more Labour grumble of insufficient radicalism…

BIossomtoes · 28/06/2024 06:48

Yesterday really unsettled me too, the thought of having a Reform MP is just - words fail me. This last week is going to feel very long.

At least there'll be a good chance of a recall petition when he inevitably will be caught out saying something unspeakable or criminal

TaraTories · 28/06/2024 10:16

Afloatingvoter · 28/06/2024 09:50

Snap!

But Labour haven't address this either. I know I keep pointing out problems with their campaign but I do feel it's ignoring so much that needs immediate change- NHS social care, crumbling schools, Brexit money and EU links just the main ones.

I'm not saying Tories are better by any stretch but this is why people are turning to Reform. They are, as I said last week, ballsy. They and the Libs are confronting the issues the two top parties are trying to hide. I can see on here people not really engaging with the issues either which is really worrying to me.

How are Labour going to actually resolve bed blocking in NHS? We have no idea.

Don’t we have some idea? Wes Streeting discussed this issue last week.

People vote Reform for dubious reasons. Some are explicit about their racism, others not yet.

tobee · 28/06/2024 10:19

Wow those polls are amazingly varied. Not surprising but so stark how unreliable it is to plump for one to inform you.

Last night, at about 1.30 am, I said "we'll be well into it by now this time next week!" This household all agreed that we were sick to death of the length of the campaign.

tobee · 28/06/2024 10:20

Sorry that you have been unsettled by the polls @BIossomtoes . I can't blame you.

grannycake · 28/06/2024 10:14

The candidate’s a woman. 😱

TaraTories · 28/06/2024 10:27

I also think that assuming everyone for Reform is racist is an issue we had with Leave/Remain. I'm voting Libs but a sparky comment about everyone voting reform being racist whether they know it or not isn't going to change any minds about champagne socialists or bleeding heart liberals.

A lot of people are led by what they've been told to worry about (Reform and Labour too) but it's the issues in between that are the grey areas that often need really details plans for that are being ignored. The flashy headlines seem to just be distracting. I don't want 16k new teachers magicked out of nowhere, I want proper MH care in schools. I want the buildings not to fall down. I want to be seen in A&E within a safe time because elderly people are being housed appropriately and given proper care while their carers get a fair wage.

BestIsWest · 28/06/2024 10:32

The new Electoral Calculus poll this morning looks better.

bombastix · 28/06/2024 10:33

I don’t believe Reform voters are really interested in Labour. They want their prejudices confirmed. A lot of them are racist.

Labour should not chase this vote as the Conservatives have done. And it doesn’t need to

IClaudine · 28/06/2024 10:34

That might be true @TaraTories but anyone who does the tiniest bit of research into Reform will see the vile racism from the candidates.

If voters don't research Reform before voting, they either don't care about racism or actively support it.
