What milk do the adults in your house drink?

Assuming those of you with children buy full fat for them, what do the adults have and why?

I buy skimmed (cos I'm always on a diet and prefer it in tea) but I'm tempted to swap to semi skimmed.

Semi usually but for certain things or if on offer Jersey milk or M&S Cornish.

Whu · 23/06/2024 20:47

Oat. Specifically Plenish - just organic oats, sea salt and water. Simple, tasty and no nasties.

Allmarbleslost · 23/06/2024 20:50

I have skimmed in my tea and coffee because it tastes too milky with anything else! Kids and dh have semi

We don't drink milk but have Cravendale semi skimmed because otherwise it goes off as we use so little, I only have a 5p sized spot in tea, don't eat cereal or anything else in milk. I haven't drunk milk since I was traumatised by the warm school milk.

longtompot · 23/06/2024 23:10

Semi skimmed for most of us and oat milk for my dd as she's allergic to dairy.

PrincessOfPreschool · 23/06/2024 23:22

I have full fat in coffee, semi in cereal. If I'm not having cereal I just buy the full fat.

Leftleg · 23/06/2024 23:23

Semi skimmed in tea, full fat milk from the farm for everything else.

Ginkypig · 23/06/2024 23:24

I don’t drink milk really and rarely eat cereal but if I did I’d probably want full fat milk. That may be a hangover from childhood though as I didn’t like semi skimmed compared with full fat when I was younger and it’s been years since I’ve had milk just on its own or with cereal

i buy semi because I find it better for sauces or porridge etc than skimmed but also because it lasts longer than whole milk and i use only a tiny bit in coffee and don’t make sauces etc regularly so whole would go off far too quickly for me to use.

i did used to get bob milk for a while which is skimmed milk that tastes like semi but my supermarket stopped selling it so I went to semi again

Semi skimmed because my children don't like the taste of full fat. If I could get them to have full fat I would as I think it better for you (less sugar, brains need fat etc).

When you say less sugar do you mean semi has more sugar than whole?

Justleaveitblankthen · 23/06/2024 23:31

Full fat filtered.
I prefer the Tesco one to anywhere else - and I've tried them all. It's creamier.
Don't touch semi or skimmed.

full fat is around 4.7g per 100ml, semi is 4.8g and skimmed 5g. Its negligible really.

TwoBlueFish · 23/06/2024 23:48

skimmed, it’s the only milk I like in tea.

Fontainebleau007 · 23/06/2024 23:49

Semi skimmed

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 23/06/2024 23:50

Semi skimmed / really don’t think it makes a difference to weight loss in the grand scheme of things!

Jojoanna · 23/06/2024 23:51

Full fat

FromBackHome · 24/06/2024 00:09

3 adults and a teen and we all have oat.

KatPurrson · 24/06/2024 00:12

I get cashew or hazelnut. DH drinks oat and sometimes almond.

lovinglaughingliving · 24/06/2024 00:24

Semi skimmed for every day.
Jersey gold (full cream) for cooking and kids!

Ginkypig · 24/06/2024 00:46

Off the back of this thread iv just looked and my supermarket has bob (skimmed that tastes like semi) back for sale so I’m going to go back to that.

HÆLTHEPAIN · 24/06/2024 07:01

Semi. I’m not a fan of milk so don’t like the taste of whole milk and skimmed just seems a bit pointless. Semi is better in the coffee machine and was recommended in the manual.

DilemmaDelilah · 24/06/2024 08:51

We buy Arla BOB skimmed milk with added stuff in it. It's still skimmed milk but it tastes like semi-skimmed. I don't like cream or full fat milk, semi skimmed is fine but skimmed is better for us health-wise. Ordinary skimmed milk is too 'thin', BOB is brilliant for us. Our guests don't seem to notice any difference when they have it in tea or coffee, or even in cereal.

maw1681 · 24/06/2024 09:01

Semi skimmed for all of us (DDs are 9 & 13). I only have it in tea & coffee and occasionally porridge, because I just don't like the taste.
DH was vegan for a while, not anymore but still has oat milk because he likes it, i will have it on cereal sometimes too

FussyPud · 24/06/2024 09:08

Oat, as I’m lactose intolerant. It only gets used for hot chocolate. Got to love hotel chocolat and their 70% sachets.

TheresMillionsSaidGeoffrey · 24/06/2024 09:14

Oat, it's lovely.

naemates · 24/06/2024 09:41

What's in the Arla BOB that makes the difference? I've seen it in the shops but never paid it any attention
