What milk do the adults in your house drink?

Assuming those of you with children buy full fat for them, what do the adults have and why?

I buy skimmed (cos I'm always on a diet and prefer it in tea) but I'm tempted to swap to semi skimmed.

Full fat for everyone except me, I can't have dairy

Both DC are quite slim and probably need the fat and protect.

When DH complained and said he was trying to lose some weight and I should buy him semi-skimmed I suggested he ciujd buy it himself or, if he did want to lost weight he could stop shovelling in the biscuits. He's still on full fat Grin

HurdyGurdy19 · 23/06/2024 13:26

We don't drink it as in drinking a glass of milk, but I have skimmed in tea and porridge, and my husband has semi skimmed, also in drinks and porridge.

Semi skimmed for general use, barista oat for DDs matcha lattes 🙄.

I’ll buy whole milk or jersey if I’m cooking for guests/a special occasion.

evilharpy · 23/06/2024 13:30

Husband and daughter have semi skimmed, I have skimmed. I only use a very tiny amount in tea or coffee, and make my porridge with half skimmed milk half water - can't stand milky coffee or creamy porridge (I do like ice cream though).

Growing up we always had semi skimmed.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 23/06/2024 13:31

Whole milk for coffee and an occasional glass if it's cow, goat milk I prefer semi-skimmed. Crepes and cakes are best with cow semi-skimmed.

I used to do the whole soya/non dairy milks thing but I think they're actually less healthy.

Velicirapitor · 23/06/2024 13:31

Full fat lactose free for me in coffee and cooking. Semi skimmed milk DH.

MikeRafone · 23/06/2024 13:32

I’ve never liked cows milk.

we have full fat milk for grandchildren dd has skimmed milk and I’ve got plant based for coffee as it’s nicer or I have black coffee

SilverSimca · 23/06/2024 13:33

Neither of us adults drink milk by itself. I have semi skimmed on my cereal and in coffee. DH has semi skimmed in his porridge and oat milk in tea.
The 14 year old is the only one who drinks milk, also semi skimmed. The 16 year old only has it on cereal.

Teacherprebaby · 23/06/2024 13:33

No one should be drinking Dairy!! 🙄

Davros · 23/06/2024 13:34

Skimmed

iutiut · 23/06/2024 13:41

always whole milk because it tastes better. I dont understand why British love skim so much. When I moved to the UK I found that my latte from cafes doesnt taste as good. It took me a long time to realise they use skim milk as default, I had to ask for whole milk each time specificly and some cafes dont even have it.

the difference in fat is so minimal as well, 2% vs 4%, it's not like whole milk is double cream. and semi skimmed is obviously more processed than whole or skimmed.

we use whole cow milk from the milkman with with the cream on top, and oat milk.

ginasevern · 23/06/2024 13:49

Only me and adult son at home. Graham's smooth Jersey milk for coffee, cereal and occasional milk shake and semi skimmed for tea.

Clawedino · 23/06/2024 13:50

Semi-skimmed. We have full fat for our 2 year old so sometimes have this instead when we run out of semi.

Awrite · 23/06/2024 13:51

All full fat. We are all slim. I thought we were well past believing that fat causes fat.

APurpleSquirrel · 23/06/2024 13:51

We get whole milk non-homogenised from a local dairy farm.

People can drink what they like🙄

whiteroseredrose · 23/06/2024 13:52

Oat milk from the milkman

DullFanFiction · 23/06/2024 13:54

Full fat for dh.
Bone for me (or almond at a push) as dairy doesn’t agree with me. (Otherwise it would be full fat for me too)

BiscuitsForever · 23/06/2024 13:54

Semi skimmed for adults and children.

Well people probably shouldn't do a lot of things.

Drinking milk is fine though, unless you're actually allergic.

Totally, compared with fat in crisps or chocolate its nothing. I have seen people putting 5 sugars into their "skinny" latte and people who always buy fat free or light products then eat loads KFC or McDonalds without a question.😂

GiveMeMySoddingCokeZero · 23/06/2024 14:02

Skimmed in tea for me and DP, in coffee for DP, and on most breakfast cereals for me. (Often it's UHT, as it's useful to have in and it suffers less from the heat treatment than any of the fat-containing ones.)

Semi in coffee (including cappuccino and iced coffee) for me, on cereals for DP (if we don't have whole), and on muesli for me if I feel like it/we don't have much skimmed.

Ordinary full-fat for some cooking, and on cereal for DP occasionally if we happen to have it.

Gold top, gold smooth or whatever Jersey or other nice milk is available is what we get for drinking (only me) and for certain types of cooking.

No diluted stabilised sweetened oil-infused fortified imported bean/nut/grain extracts here — it's all about that animal breastmilk 😋 However, unlike some, I'm not going to be dictating what choices everybody/nobody should be making. (Though I've been a bit 🤨 when I've heard people say they make porridge using oat milk 🤣 Can only assume they've got money to burn.)

SoupDragon · 23/06/2024 14:06

Skimmed. I went off anything more creamy when I had DS1 for some reason!
