For me it’s currently solitude. Space and quiet for myself.

OP posts:
Boating123 · 22/06/2024 20:25

Skiing and white water kayaking. Unfortunately both things a hard to do on a regular basis.
I usually have to make do with the memories and the anticipation of future trips.

DreadPirateRobots · 22/06/2024 20:25

Writing. Exercising. Riding my bike. Swimming in the sea. Climbing mountains. Music. Singing with other people

BabyBobs · 22/06/2024 20:31

Dogs.

Pompleandprim · 22/06/2024 20:31

Kids.

its not something I say out loud because in this day and age it will always raise eyebrows, but being around children brings me so much joy. I’m the adult at the family gatherings entertaining all the children so the others parents can relax 😂 and I am always offering to babysit for friends and family.

SpikeyDee · 22/06/2024 20:32

Netball

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 22/06/2024 20:34

Riding my bike, I grin like a loon. And the gym. Also my cats, they are the biggest dickheads but they're my dickheads and I wouldn't have them any other way.

CoodleMoodle · 22/06/2024 20:35

Peace and quiet! Or my version of it.

Playing video games or doing some craft (cross stitch usually) while listening to podcasts.

Writing while listening to music.

Reading (in silence!).

Moveoverdarlin · 22/06/2024 20:35

Time alone trumps everything else.

S72 · 22/06/2024 20:36

Sailing

Muffin101 · 22/06/2024 20:39

Getting out on my horses. No feeling of complete peace like it. Also reading, I’ve always been a proper little bookworm and going skiing, but that’s not such a regular thing of course.

OriginalUsername2 · 22/06/2024 20:40

Illustration. I love it so much I dream about it. It feels a bit magic being in the middle of one because I wake up in the morning not knowing what will be on the canvas when I go to bed.

I’m still quite new at it so it’s like going into a world of my own making with lots of problem solving (which I love) amongst my favourite colours. While I’m doing it I repeatedly think “I bloody love this!”

The weather! Sunnier days with a light breeze lift my spirits.
Baking. It gives me a huge sense of satisfaction.
I know you said other than friends but I’ve made quite a few new friends the last couple of years and each has brought something special to my life.
My work, I’ve been learning a new skill and it’s making me so happy.

I haven’t had solitude for as long as I can remember but I do enjoy quiet and my own company, enjoy!

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 22/06/2024 21:06

I also love watching planes actually planes in general, and the sound of a cricket or tennis match.

BakedTattie · 22/06/2024 21:08

Silence. Sitting reading a good book. The sound of the sea. Plants. Spending money 😂

EasterlyDirection · 22/06/2024 21:11

Friends and family first, I am very sociable. But also being around other people, just sitting in a cafe and listening to all the chit chat around me, same in pubs or on trains. Random chat in shops or anywhere.

Gardening - I met someone recently who said they don't like gardening and can't get up any interest in it at all and this honestly blows my mind, I cannot imagine ever not gardening, when I lived in flats I always had pot plants and grew herbs, beansprouts etc on windowsills. I know each to their own but it is a fundamental part of life to me.

Sitting outside in the late evening or early morning when there's no traffic noise just birdsong.

Walking on my own, a good playlist and sunshine early in the morning with very few people around.

SlashBeef · 22/06/2024 21:39

Sleeping. It genuinely makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when I can feel myself drifting off. I don't know if it comes from years of sleep problems but I adore sleep these days.
Also playing the Sims sometimes because clearly I haven't grown up.

Loafbeginsat60 · 22/06/2024 21:45

Sunbathing
Being by myself
Watching a really good series on tv
Walking the dogs
Collecting eggs
Feeding the sheep / goats and watching them become tame.
Spending time with my children
Getting ready to go out
Having a lovely meal somewhere really expensive!
A day trip when the weather is lovely
Swimming in the sea
The first lambs being born
Bottle feeding pet lambs and cuddles if we have one in the house
Sunset on our hill - it's spectacular.
Laughing with colleagues at work (this happens a lot)
Kids reaching milestones at work
Listening to my children laughing while they are playing outside
Watching dh and dd - he's her step dad and they just adore each other.

That's a long list and I could keep on going. I'm always happy it would seem!

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 22/06/2024 21:58

It used to be a bath. A boiling hot bath with nice bubble bath or bath bomb but I have been unable to have a bath for over 6 years. I would do anything to have one again!

Now just sitting alone in silence and reading!
