And I think it is an area where personal experience matters. You carry it with you.

But then I'd also like to match ministers to their actual work experience.

Notonthestairs · 23/06/2024 11:04

Farage has long been opposed to postal votes - despite the dearth of evidence of wide scale fraud. I fully expect him to bring it up again.

Sorry, I had a bad pain day yesterday and was a bit off my tits Blush
My friend had been talking to 2 dads who were both going to be voting Reform because they are worried about resources - NHS/housing etc- and stated that the candidate there was a solid guy who understood the local problems because Farage lives at Downe and had hand picked him. Neither of them are poor and one certainly sends his children to private schools.

When I said seats I meant votes.

Hope you are OK tara Flowers

"8 years ago today, I proudly voted for Brexit.

While we delivered on the will of the people, Keir Starmer tried to reverse your vote.

That’s the difference between us."

Sunak on Twitter this morning.
Not convinced this will pan out as he expect given the shift in perspective.

And of course no mention of those Brexit benefits.

Although I went into the options with an open mind I did find myself thinking “Ooof, that’s definitely a Reform option!” but if I’d agreed I would still have selected.

It’s more down to the fact that Lib Dems let me down massively on tuition fees, hounded out Tim Farron and were very self-serving and ineffectual in a neighbouring constituency where family and friends live @Piggywaspushed

Davey gives me the Ick due to his attitude to women who are gender critical (not his views, but the way he treats views opposite to his own) and using his child’s disability in this campaign. I know many admire him for his ‘honesty’ in doing that, but I would feel the same about any politician who used their children, let alone go into intimate details about them when they may not have capacity to consent to that. He didn’t even have the decency to catch something horrible when he fell into Windermere and neatly make a point about United Utilities woeful record with water cleanliness Wink

I did not like Farron at all. They seem to have moved further left under Davey which is fine by me!

Can't do it as it doesn't include Scotland, which is "coming soon" Hmm a bit late for those already using their postal votes Hmm

Oh, that explains why SNP is on 0%!

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2024 11:15

I'd actually love Sir KS to read this thread and see so many of us we are voting Labour but.... if he could see how much of his votes are lent to him by people who actually feel Labour is no longer their political or moral home.

I actually feel quite sad, even though I know it's pragmatism.

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/06/2024 11:15

That was definitely food for thought.

Here's mine - not really a surprise to me. I only did the short one

I think I'm a bit more centrist or even right than lots of ppl on this thread so maybe it shows that Labour have in fact moved to the right

I didn't select quite a lot of policies because I don't think we have the money

I ignored the money like Claudine and just went for the policies that chime most with me. Obviously on 4 July saying “never mind the money” isn’t a luxury we have.

LittleBowSheep · 23/06/2024 11:24

75% Conservative and 25% Reform for me.

ONLY KIDDING!!!

Actually it was 2/3 Labour and 1/3 Green. That's fine of course but I was expecting some Plaid in the mix.

SerendipityJane · 23/06/2024 11:28

Farage pulled out of BBC interview at the last.

Certainly chimes with my theory that he has to damp down the popularity a bit.

He knew he was going to get hammered on his bollocks about the West inciting Russia into war. Frit.

Notonthestairs · 23/06/2024 11:29

Good to see this article on social care on the BBC home page

Yep.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2024 11:30

DS (20) on the short version came out as Labour with Green and Lib Dem.

When he did the long version (I think he took out the ones he already did) he came out 100% Lib Dem!

He's going to vote Labour though.

I was thinking the same.

I'm not a hard core Labour voter (I swing) but will vote Labour this time around. But he needs to understand the smaller parties are only not getting votes through tactics and that may change in the future (if we can keep the Tory's out!)

Notonthestairs · 23/06/2024 11:33

Sorry I've clearly missed the post Blush but where are you doing the survey?

Yeah I'm more centrist than many which is why I thought I'd get Labour. 🤔

BIossomtoes · 23/06/2024 11:35

Baby steps. I see my Labour vote this time as a stepping stone. Come the next election I might reconsider but right now it’s about the art of the possible.

SerendipityJane · 23/06/2024 11:38

BIossomtoes · 23/06/2024 11:29

He knew he was going to get hammered on his bollocks about the West inciting Russia into war. Frit.

Which is perfect. Might put off a few people.

Remember - not only does he not need to win. He doesn't want to win. Because he can then peddle the "it's so unfair, they are all against me us that is his stock in trade,". He has managed superbly these past few years without ever having to get any electoral support whatsoever. Why change a winning formula ?

In a way, he's already taken a couple of wrecking balls to the concept of democracy and triggered a series of events which led to two - not one, but two - unelected Prime Ministers and an unelected Foreign Secretary.

If I were Putin I would note that the further Farage is from power, the more damage he does. He'd be a fool not to use that to his advantage.

It's all gone a bit le Carré 😀

IClaudine · 23/06/2024 11:44

So maybe we should hope Farage wins Clacton? He will do nothing for his constituents and hopefully will be shown up in Parliament.

BestIsWest · 23/06/2024 11:55

Did the long form and results pretty much the same (66% Labour, the rest split between Green and Lib Dem’s). I’ll admit that despite being in Wales I ignored the obviously Plaid policies (no issue with them but wanted to see how I stood with the main parties). I suspect I disagreed with Labour on Immigration and Welfare ( two child cap). I suspect I was a bit more pragmatic on a few other policies too.

prettybird · 23/06/2024 12:03

Pretended I was in England and did the short survey which gave me 1/3, 1/3 and 1/3 LibDem/Labour/Green. Not unexpected Wink
