To wonder what happened to George Michael

I'm a 70s baby so grew up loving Wham and had the posters and everything so I ended up loving George Michael solo career as well. I didn't like his later stuff so much so stopped following him after a while but he seemed like such a creative spirit. What happened? You never about him anymore like you do with Britney or others 80s stars like Kate Bush or Michael Jackson or even Elton John. I think the next generations are missing out on a lot.

He died.
That's what happened to him.

NotDavidTennant · 11/06/2024 14:41

Is this a joke?

LaceyLou82 · 11/06/2024 14:41

I was about to say he’s dead!!!

Came to say the same thing 😂😂

LaceyLou82 · 11/06/2024 14:42

Btw you can still go and see tribute acts!

CaptainAmericaaaa · 11/06/2024 14:42

This can't be real!

vodkaredbullgirl · 11/06/2024 14:43

He may have died but you can still listen to his music.

BiancaBlue · 11/06/2024 14:43

This isn't real surely anyone would Google before writing this post

fedupandstuck · 11/06/2024 14:44

He's been dead for 8 years or so. As it happens though I've seen several recent articles about him, so I don't even agree with your premise.

Jackson, although dead, was a very much bigger star than George Michael hence being more deeply embedded in music culture.

corlan · 11/06/2024 14:44

Michael Jackson's been very quiet lately as well.

Awumminnscotland · 11/06/2024 14:44

Have you just returned to earth from somewhere Op?

LaceyLou82 · 11/06/2024 14:45

I was thinking the same about Bob Marley and Prince the other day @DonnaBanana!

Comedycook · 11/06/2024 14:45

I still listen to him...I don't think he's been forgotten about at all.

cheezncrackers · 11/06/2024 14:45

Meanwhile, back in the real world it's 2024, not 1984.

Slugsandsnailsresidehere · 11/06/2024 14:46

Have you just woken from a coma? 🤔

DonnaBanana · 11/06/2024 14:46

No I mean his legacy. The kids have Tiktoks on all the time with all sorts of old artists like Michael Jackson (who is also dead) and Madonna and all that (and she doesn't release anything anymore) but George Michael was so huge and you just do not see him in the modern culture at all which is ridiculous.

LeavesOnTrees · 11/06/2024 14:46

It's true he hasn't been on tour recently either.
Being dead is no excuse.

😂😂

MK19590 · 11/06/2024 14:48

I think maybe what OP means is that even though he's dead there aren't TV documentaries and stuff about him that are relevant today

Didn't George Michael have some allegations against him?

CBDee · 11/06/2024 14:48

There’s been a very successful documentary about him just last year and plans afoot for a hologram tour. A whole film based around Last Christmas. Plus his music is played endlessly.

ASighMadeOfStone · 11/06/2024 14:50

I'm quite relieved that this isn't another batshit "I'm furious with Michael Mosley for going and dying" thread tbh.
I mean, it's batshit in its own little way, but y'know. 😳

Moveoverdarlin · 11/06/2024 14:50

I’ve often thought the same about that Elvis Presley chap, he was quite big in his day. I wonder where he is now? I saw a bloke that looked ever so like him in B&M this morning, I wonder if it’s him?

Needmorelego · 11/06/2024 14:51

@DonnaBanana I hear his music on the radio all the time and as someone said there's tribute acts.
I was never a fan so I wouldn't go looking for his music but my daughter did a stage event a few years ago at school where they sang "Freedom".
Young people who are into music will have heard of him and probably more likely to be a fan compared to Michael Jackson.
Anyone I know refers to Michael Jackson as "the creepy pedo".
(yes....I know...never actually found guilty... whatever)

Tehehee this tickled me!

decionsdecisions62 · 11/06/2024 14:51

No I wonder this too op. I thought he was a tragic yet generous individual and wonder how he spent his last day.

People may ridicule you here but I get it.
