I only just found out about Golden Kiwis, they are gorgeous.
I can’t stop eating them.

My mother told me about them, I had never even heard of them, I’m at the supermarket now and wondering what else am I missing out on??😁

You need to try the Piatnica polish cottage cheese.

Just divine.

Yes the Piatnica is definitely better, especially the lactose free one.

Urban Fruit’s Gently Baked mango with lime and passion fruit. I can eat the whole bag in 5 minutes.

Their strawberries are unreal, too.

Problem is, you could see off the bag on your own!

Papaya. Only tried it for the first time a few weeks ago at the age of 53. Bloody lovely

Marks and Spencer 'Queen Chick Peas'. They come in a large jar and are absolutely delicious. I add them to salads, soups and stews, curries. Sometimes, I just eat them with a dollop of tzatziki.

Agree re chilli oil, gochujang and kimchi - NYOM.

My latest obsession is these pickles. I've had them every day this week on sourdough toast with humus. SO good, and the leftover juice makes an amazing salad dressing.

The little sweet and spicy beetroot - I could just eat them by the packet load!

WYorkshireRose · 09/06/2024 18:32

White strawberries (an actual variety, not just under-ripe). They're so much nicer!

EveryOtherNameTaken · 09/06/2024 18:53

Ooh you need to try golden passion fruit its like a dessert.

I've just ordered some, on your recommendation, from the online shop My Exotic Fruit.
They look like the passion fruit we found in Australia about 20 years ago. They were being given away by the side of the road and I've never eaten anything so delicious.
Thank you!

Recently as in the last few years

Kimchi…. now eat everyday
Steamed beetroot
smoked haddock

I've never bought this. Where do you get your kimchi, and does it have a brand name?

@Mydogisagentleman James Martin did a fantastic 4 ways with celeriac not long ago. The soup was delicious

Buttery celeriac mash, 50/50 with potato, is food of the gods.

@Blacknailer @CoastalCalm @therealmccoy1234 Haven’t tried the Longley Farm one but will put it on my list. Try the Lidl full fat cottage cheese (with dark blue lid) - I think it’s made in Germany and is superior to all other cottage cheeses, especially if you are used to eating Eastern European cottage cheese.

Mydogisagentleman · 09/06/2024 19:45

Isn't it just.
Also, sliced on a mandolin raw

WhoGivesaSpit · 09/06/2024 19:45

Hot honey and nduja - so yum on pizza

midlifeattheoasis · 09/06/2024 19:48

Tyrell's truffle and sea salt crisps. AMAZING

Very good for your cholesterol, too.

This is going to sound really daft and unsophisticated, but cabbage and greens. I eat a decent range of veg but I started looking at the Michael Mosley books during lockdown, (because I had more time to cook and wanted to shed a bit of weight), and they suggest spring greens and cabbage as good vegetables to have regularly. I have never liked cabbage type veg since school dinners, but thought I'd try microwaving them with a splash of olive oil and a sprinking of water and OMG what a revelation. Lovely and crisp and unsoggy. Have cabbage, spring greens and spinach regularly now.

Still haven't quite managed kale....

Kate is beyond delicious - a little bit of olive oil and sea salt and airfried till crispy. Be careful not to burn - there is a small of window for it to be perfect.

It's one of my favourite things

ApplesonTuesdays · 09/06/2024 19:52

I've just made seitan (on a diet a diet and upping my protein). It was really easy to make and I marinated in spices/lime juice/chilli and airfried it.

It's really nice!

Zephyry · 09/06/2024 19:54

Also came on to say crispy chilli oil, the varieties with peanuts and black beans also amazing. And kimchi - eat the vardez one every day. And bold beans! Jarred chickpeas are a revelation, absolutely a world away from a tinned chickpea

I’ve found that all of Lidl’s dairy is really great quality but haven’t tried their cottage cheese

MrsSkylerWhite · 09/06/2024 19:58

It’s good, nice and dense, not sloppy like so many. Little calorific difference between the full and low fat versions. Full fat is really good.

AdaColeman · 09/06/2024 19:59

Nice to see the cottage cheese love here!
Try it for breakfast with an enthusiastic scattering of finely scissored fresh chives stirred in, a favourite in Poland. (Thyme or basil or spring onions would work well too)

I use a lot of basil here in summer, especially in tomato and burrata salad, or in tomato soups, also with strawberries, and I like a couple of bruised basil leaves in a gin & tonic too.

So true. Absolutely delicious.

Pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) OH MY GOD it’s divine. I’ve ordered the starch so I can make endless amounts.

marriednotdead · 09/06/2024 20:03

Passion fruit. I'd had it 'in' things and love Soleros but I'd never eaten it on its own. Dsis recently went to Thailand, had it in smoothies there daily and was raving about it so I bought some. Really enjoying the zing!
