I only just found out about Golden Kiwis, they are gorgeous.
I can’t stop eating them.

My mother told me about them, I had never even heard of them, I’m at the supermarket now and wondering what else am I missing out on??😁

That reminds me, I took a risk and bought different chilli flakes the other day. They're called arbol, they're deeper and hotter than the unspecified tesco chilli flakes so they'll last longer

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/06/2024 07:40

Phantasmagorically · 10/06/2024 17:01

the chilli flakes themselves are crunchy

Thank you!
Looks like something I would love.

I'm hooked on this recipe too, I must've made a dozen (double!) batches in the last few weeks. Highly recommended!

There's a lot of ANZAC biscuit recipes out there. When you bite into them there should be a slight crunch on the outside (but not too much) then they should be nice and chewy in the middle. (Am Australian)

Yeah, this gives those exact results - they're delicious! I will confess to having experimented with my later batches though, some have had dried fruit added and some have been drizzled in dark chocolate...not authentic in the slightest (so I don't call them anzac biscuits) but a nice variation.

Mixing chilli powder with salt and sprinkling it on melon and cucumber

its absolutely lovey

i habe now bought a Mexican mix of this it’s lovely on salad too

Have you been watching this year's Masterchef? One of the contestants said how nice melon dipped in salt & chilli is.
He did a melon & chilli dish and it went down a treat.

Kejap Manis. It’s been in a hello fresh recipe that we repeat. I’ve only been able to find it in Sainsbury’s but it’s amazing.

And yes to another poster who mentioned cauliflower rice. Much prefer it to normal rice these days.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 11/06/2024 13:55

Bought! I use Maldon anyway, and I guess I didn't know about this as I mostly shop online. I'd have possibly spotted it if I'd gone into a shop and seen it next to the regular maldon salt.

I've also added about half a dozen items from this thread to my weekly shopping basket.

I buy large bottles of Kejap Manis (Indonesian sweet thick soya sauce) from my local Asian food store

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/06/2024 13:56

@RainbowZebraWarrior Maldon also do a garlic one and a smoked salt - both of which I have not yet tried but I will be buying next time I see them 😁

ManchesterLu · 11/06/2024 14:11

Biscoff spread & nutella (but the Aldi brand versions of both).

They're so nice. I've actually had to stop buying it other than every so often, because I'd just eat biscoff on toast for every meal if I could!

This stuff is great, from my favourite label, East End, at Ocado. A big dollop with an omelette, mix a bit in plain yoghurt, or tuna melt, etc.

No I rarely watch MasterChef

It really is worth trying. I use the Mexican Tajin Dried Chilli Lime & Salt Seasoning its nice on most fruits and salads. I am not a lover of fruit but with this mix I enjoy fruit far more

I went to Poundland this evening to buy some Longley farm cottage cheese.

I'll be honest ladies, I'm not a fan.

But I'm glad I tried it.

OK, possibly stupid question. Is it actually just £1 there (lots of things aren’t).

Globules · 12/06/2024 00:15

£1.25

Globules · 12/06/2024 07:19

And if you go looking for it @MrsSkylerWhite it's in a tall thin dairy pot like Elmlea, rather than a short fat tub like cottage cheese normally is.

Yes, thank you. Love it and their yoghurt but at around £1.50 it’s just a bit pricey as a regular..
£1.25 now and then is more doable.

Snap. Am using it up mixed with piccalilli and eaten on crackers.

I much prefer ricotta

I went to Tesco to buy it and they didn't have any. Ended up with Graham's. It's okay, wouldn't repurchase.

I buy the longley farm cottage cheese from home bargains, it £1.15......I love it.

mommatoone · 16/06/2024 21:14

I can't stand cottage cheese (sorry 🤣).... But the Longley farm yoghurts are lovely. Loads of different flavours and only 50p at our fruit n veg shop 😋

spikeandbuffy · 16/06/2024 22:25

If you don't like the texture of cottage cheese just put it in a blender. Goes really smooth and light
I did it with some ranch seasoning as a dip

3luckystars · 17/06/2024 09:39

So many new foods here that I have never even heard off, I’m definitely trying some of these, any that have been repeated are first in the list, but my very favourite reply was ‘rice crispies’ 😂

Kejap Manis.

I work in the Netherlands quite regularly and it's Ketjap there - do they spell it without the T in Britain? I haven't seen it over here.
