In that case, the area is actually rather equivalent to Symi in that Saddleworth Moors are around 29 Sq Miles. Obviously slightly different search terms as police were always looking for buried bodies in the case of the Moors.

It's sooooo easy to lose a footpath when it is strewn with rocks. We've lost footpaths many a time on fells . . . only refound once we spot someone on the actual path - you can't refind a path even if it's only a few metres away if random rocks are in the way

There are people on these threads that have, if not suggested it then certainly implied it. What else it saying he 'deliberately' left his phone trying to imply?

I'm afraid my family concur with the planned suicide. They have experience of it with a colleague years ago. They're are distinct similarities between this & then.

I've said I think he might have gone deliberately. Suicide had never occurred to me until it's just been mentioned. I know a few middle aged men who've disappeared for a few days when life all got too much. I was thinking something alone those lines.

Has he ever discussed MH issues on TV?

What's weird is why he took the route at all. One minute striding along the promenade, the next scaling that rocky terrain? And your talk of this being planned to finish himself off. How? You dont walk into mountains and spontaneously vanish into thin air. Or do you think he disappeared into the sea like reggie perrin?

I've played and replayed his podcasts over the years, he always came across as someone eager to find a way to extend life and the quality of life.

I know he's said that a lot of his male family members have never made it past their early seventies.

I'm glad someone had the balls to say it out loud.

of all the ways to kill yourself, a tourist route on a busy island, in the v benign Med would be one of the least convenient I could think of
