A few posters have said they think it's concerning he is walking fast in the cctv footage. Do we know the time of that and what direction he was walking in? Could he have been walking to the bus and walking fast not to miss it?

A few posters are being weird, my husband walks like that, as do many people. Nothing weird about it,

Hopefully he's had a mild medical episode and is currently being cared for by a lovely Greek Yia Yia who is stuffing him full of spanakopita, completely oblivious to the frantic search party going on outside (happened to me in Santorini).

What - you were in a Greek woman's house for 4 days on an island whilst 100s of rescue professionals and volunteers searched for you overhead and nearby? And in that time no one else more clued up than the grandma came to the house and told her and you that your family and the world's media were desperate for news of you?

I don’t know if he’d be able to recite her number off by heart, do you? I can’t remember the last time I called anyone who wasn’t a phone contact.

Good point, but you see what Im saying, He's not gonna just sit there recuperating forever. He'd be aware of the enormity of going missing and try and make contact with someone, like the emergency services to let them know he was ok.

He's an intelligent man, I'm sure he'd be able to think of a way to get in touch, if he was able and wanted to. FB, email, email/call/FB colleagues or children or police for a message to be passed on...

I too walk really fast but in 40 deg heat when sight seeing? Not so much.

Then he’s speak to someone, ya know, the police. And he’s all over Greek tv.

Why should I not be?

Becuase you're apparently not interested in speculation. What else are you expecting here?

IDontSleepIDream · 08/06/2024 17:07

Why do people feel the need to argue fgs? Fuck off to aibu if you want to continually bicker.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 08/06/2024 17:08

WTF is actually wrong with everyone?! This thread is a weird social experiment at this point. I don't think we should create a new thread when this one fills up. In a crisis, would you be sniping at each other like this?

Manhere2024 · 08/06/2024 17:12

5pm Sky News reporter on the ground in Symi is saying that there has really not been much searching going on. Not many people involved.

ducktapez · 08/06/2024 17:12

I'm here to discuss the different news reports, and goodness knows there's plenty and there's a lot of inconsistencies. Shame his wife isn't giving more away but i can see why she isn't. Would be good to know if he did say he wasn't feeling well or if he was feeling OK, and did he say he would meet them back at the beach or back at the villa.

Wow that's a lot of speculation right there!

I've been really clear about the type of speculation I feel is damaging.

ManilowBarry · 08/06/2024 17:14

'A few posters have said they think it's concerning he is walking fast in the cctv footage. Do we know the time of that and what direction he was walking in? Could he have been walking to the bus and walking fast not to miss it?'

Well if he's feeling unwell and wants to relieve his bladder or bowels maybe he's getting a move on to either get back to where he's dating or go hide behind a rock.

Later on if he's left a path to relieve himself without anyone coming across him then he may have slipped, fell or fainted/died whilst doing so.

fizzywat · 08/06/2024 17:14

Some are bitching because they are bored silly waiting for an outcome. It's not happening quickly enough for them so they are a bit narky because they are bored waiting for news.

Every good wish to the search and rescue teams and to the family.

Blame the media - that's where we're all looking and discussing, you know, on a thread called "chat"

It’s easy to underestimate how hard it would be to see him in that terrain. The photos of the people searching look like one of those spot the leopard photos.

Yes, I agree with you. I was responding to a poster who objected to speculation, but was specualating.

If you wanted factual updates you would go to the BBC or Sky news websites. But instead you are here berating people for discussing his disappearance. Therefore I conclude you are enjoying reading this thread.

BBC and Sky factual? Now this thread is becoming a farce!

I heard there was a lot of helicopter/drone surveillance over the mountainous area today. That makes sense - easier to find someone from the air, rather than walking around the mountains. Also they've been looking in the caves.
Perhaps it doesn't look like a lot of people searching but I think they've done a lot today. They've been working since 6am.
