Madeleine McCann new evidence - BREAKING NEWS

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 05/06/2024 18:58

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

I know parents of that time who would have / did leave their children in similar circumstances to the McCanns and others who wouldn’t.

I always felt that my children were more precious to me than £100,000 in cash (for example) and, if I wouldn’t leave £100,000 in cash on the bed in an unlocked appartment then why would I leave a child?

I was however definitely seen as overprotective when my husband and I would share hotel rooms with our children when they were small rather than putting them in a room on their own

As a parent who had children a similar age in the 90s/00s it was considered ok to eat very close to our apartment and regularly check. It was normal and never on our radar that a weirdo would steal our child.

Have to say I completely disagree with this comment. My DD was 3 months younger than Madeline, I also had a son who was 2 at the time and would never ever have left either one of them alone in an apartment. It was not considered an ok thing to do then just as it isnt now. Not blaming the parents, they have suffered the ultimate price for their mistake but not on any planet would it be ok to leave such young kids alone.

We were on holiday with our 3 yr old DD just a couple of months after Madeleine's disappearance.

There were couples in our apartments still doing this. We would see them at the bar on an evening and when asked where their kids were they'd breezily say "oh we left them in bed, they're asleep, they're fine". One of them would occasionally pop up to check.

It just seemed so wrong after what had happened.

cliffside · 05/06/2024 22:25

Everything that can be said about the morality of them leaving them in the apartment has been said. Everything. There are no new opinions.

No. No, it absolutely wasn't normal in my world. I wouldn't have dreamed of leaving my children in an apartment alone and checking on them, however regularly. I just wouldn't have taken that risk.

I don’t want to know…absolutely sickening that this creature is still alive!
I think about her parents regularly and they were destroyed that day .
They didn’t do anything wrong apart from a bad call leaving her at the apartment.

Okay?! I would never have left my children in an apartment on their own … ever. If her parents had looked after her and not left her on her own she would be here today.

I don't know why people start in with the judgement comments because they get threads deleted.

Can anyone imagine how tenuous the email account was and links to him. It's a secret hidden email address to hide him watching or sending videos of abuse.
I imagine they have found it and are desperate trying to link it to yin7, see who he was sending it too and so on.

I feel very very sad for the McCann family but it was never considered normal to leave a child unattended at that time.

’Baby listening’ services were really common in hotels up until the point that Madeleine went missing so it seems a bit unfair to say it wasn’t normal. It absolutely was. If you’ve used one before in a hotel I can see how it might be tempting to do the same thing yourself. The outcome wouldn’t have been any different except the holiday company would have got the blame not the parents.

Less so than the comments suggesting that it's just been said so the police officers can go off on a sunny break for a week or two to investigate!

I can kind of see where the pp is coming from.

Obviously the man;s crimes are horrific and show his character is horrendous.
However, having worked in a prison with murderers and serious criminals, many of whom had committed hideous offences, the vast majority were actually fairly courteous inside to staff, especially those who were not prison officers/guards. But you then get some who are really vile and unpleasant to all inside too, including those staff there to assist them in some way. Whilst this isn't anywhere near as bad as the awful crimes they are inside for but it does show another level of nastiness, no remorse, not a slight sign of anything 'nice' about them, etc.

Does it even matter now whether or
not they should have left her alone? I wouldn't do it but they don't deserve what happened.

I hope they get some answers.

Except had they not done so she would still be part of their family? Nobody I know whose kids were her age at the time could comprehend why they left those kids alone that night.

I dont understand posts that say this, why does it matter what you or your friends did or didn't do?

The parents in that group did do it, it's a factn we all know that, whats the relevance of whether it was regularly done by completely unconneted strangers?

And they might because what is totally being ignored is this is coming to light again and he is being investigated again due to the brave victims of this man whom he raped and abused and have come forth with information stemming from what they have lived through. There are victims in court giving evidence day after day to get him back where he belongs behind bars while the investigation into Madeline is ongoing but the people who are brave enough to bring him to court are being ignored once again for this 'they should have done this that or the other' as parents. The McCanns are not on trial. This trial is not about Madeline. This trial is about other victims of this vile human being and they are being ignored which is a disgrace.

It absolutely was, apartment complexes offered a service where they would
go round and check on the children at intervals

Same. My eldest son is the same age, we spent a lot of time in Portugal as we had a place over there. I would never have left my kids alone and go out to eat.

Poor little girl 😢

OnehundredStars · 05/06/2024 22:56

I hope they get answers and I do feel for them - so genuinely painful

but it was their fault, it wasn’t one night, it was several and they had plenty of ‘me time’ in the day and sent them to camps and had private tennis lessons. Obviously they didn’t cause it to happen but they enabled it by their own neglect.

It was the fault of whoever took and murdered her. Let's not continue this cheap victim blaming because where does it stop. Fgs i think the parroting of 'I wouldn't do it' has been done to death. Well done you and everyone else. Hope you are perfect in every other way.

My feeling is, if it wasn't Madeleine it would have been some other child.

I have a child, same age and I wouldn't have left her anywhere alone but I will never blame anyone but the person who took the poor little girl.

They shouldn't have left her, nobody knows that more than them, but they did and live with it every day. I have no doubt though, it would have been another child if not her. A split second in a shop or on the beach or whatever.

I hope they get answers and closure, sometime soon.

DontThinkJustDo · 05/06/2024 23:08

I think the McCann's have more than paid for their decision and have to live with the consequences every day. I hope we can keep the thread on track as I'm interested in seeing how this case develops and hope it doesn't get deleted.

I agree that it was normal. It was standard practice for hotels and resorts to offer a listening service which was basically whoever was on reception having baby monitor receivers next to them. If they heard crying they went and got the parents. This service was offered at 5* resorts all over the world.

It was the typical procedure therefore to leave the kids in the room whilst parents went to dinner.

The McCann's and friends did one better by actually checking in regularly.

So no one you knew ever went to a 5* resort that offered a listening service so you could leave the kids in the room whilst you went to dinner?

Agree. Sorry if my previous comment distracted! The person who took Madeleine is the person to focus on .
