Madeleine McCann new evidence - BREAKING NEWS

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 05/06/2024 18:58

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

If this is true I hope the people who have said the McCanns killed her are eating their words. I also hope that family starts to get closure if this is the case.

I got the feeling that whilst Christian Brueckner is a wrong 'un, he is being made a scapegoat.

Despite these alleged emails they still haven't charged him.

To convict a person, in the UK anyway, you need to prove beyond all reasonable doubt the defendant committed the crime. It may be he could worm his way out of these emails and they need something more concrete to be able to prosecute him. Either way they shouldn't have released this information to the public domain as his defence could say he won't get a fair trial.

Psychoticbreak · 05/06/2024 21:49

They can pretty much do as they please it would seem and very different to Irish and British law. Sure his lawyer emailed one of his victims. That in itself would get you thrown out in other countries.

The German police are acting really oddly, almost teasing the press with juicy snippets of information but never going as far as taking action. I assume it's because they can't come up with a proper case against him. Must be so awful for the parents and siblings every time it gets dragged up in the papers.

That’s not right, it came out in his trial.

Didn’t the German police say that a long time ago, that they had evidence that Madeleine was dead and that he was involved, but they wouldn’t give any more information? Why can’t they charge him?

I don’t think emails from his account saying he strangled her (or whatever it is) would be enough to convict him in court without a body or some other evidence.

He’ll just say “my email was hacked” and in the absence of any other proof I don’t think you could say there was no reasonable doubt.

They’ve questioned him I think. Just haven’t found any hard evidence linking him to her.

Parentingproblems101 · 05/06/2024 21:54

If they have emails they surely know who the sender/recipient of the emails is so one assumes they're tracing that individual/group too? How long have they had these emails?

Psychoticbreak · 05/06/2024 21:56

He is not on trial for anything to do with Madeline so none of this can be taken into account in this case. He is near the end of his current time in prison, he is on trial for other sex offences, the fact Madeline is being brought into it is because he was a suspect anyway but this trial is nothing to do with her case. They need to get this sex offence case done and get him back behind bars before they can go further.

ManilowBarry · 05/06/2024 21:56

It's been a few years now that the German police been saying us they have concrete evidence that he took Madeleine, where has this concrete evidence gone?

Now they are claiming they have E-mails which they accessed in 2019?

Parentingproblems101 · 05/06/2024 21:57

They've sat on them for 5 years?

As a parent who had children a similar age in the 90s/00s it was considered ok to eat very close to our apartment and regularly check. It was normal and never on our radar that a weirdo would steal our child.

Have to say I completely disagree with this comment. My DD was 3 months younger than Madeline, I also had a son who was 2 at the time and would never ever have left either one of them alone in an apartment. It was not considered an ok thing to do then just as it isnt now. Not blaming the parents, they have suffered the ultimate price for their mistake but not on any planet would it be ok to leave such young kids alone.

I’ve got to say I was a child of that period and my parents wouldn’t have thought twice about doing something similar to what the McCanns did and they weren’t in anyway the only ones.

Same with mine.

They didn’t do anything wrong apart from a bad call leaving her at the apartment

Except had they not done so she would still be part of their family? Nobody I know whose kids were her age at the time could comprehend why they left those kids alone that night.

That's a pretty big wrong. I feel so sorry for them though despite their terrible judgement. My DC's were born early 2000 and no way on earth would I have ever left them alone like that.

I don’t want to know…absolutely sickening that this creature is still alive!
I think about her parents regularly and they were destroyed that day .

I feel very very sad for the McCann family but it was never considered normal to leave a child unattended at that time.

Well good for you, must be nice to know you’re perfect. Personally I know I’ve made decisions as a parent that in hindsight probably wasn’t the best idea. How about rather than vilifying a family who have been through something unspeakable we blame the creature that thinks it’s acceptable to kidnap and more than likely murder little children.

Psychoticbreak · 05/06/2024 22:18

I feel sadder still for the rape victims he is currently on trial for and all being ignored because of the McCann speculation.

I hope they get the answers they are looking for. But to say what they did was 'a bad call' is understating the severity in my opinion. Various articles have alleged that it was not a one off to go out and dine.

I agree too. My eldest child is 18m younger than Madeleine and was nearly two and a half when she went missing. There is no way I would have left her alone in a flat and nor would anyone I knew at the time with small children. I remember the “listening service “ in hotels but that was an over a decade earlier, and also not something I would have used, although I knew someone who used it.
It must have been acceptable in their circle or they wouldn’t have done it, but it wasn’t generally done.
