How do I get this fox to fuck off?!

This damn fox will not stop following me and my dog on our late night walk around the block. It's a total twat. If I take a right turn, it follows us. If I let the fox get ahead and it goes one way, I go another - and then it comes back and starts following us again!

My dog goes mad and barks and pulls at the lead when twat fox is about and it's becoming a nightly occurrence. How do I get it to piss off?! Obviously telling it to fuck off isn't working and I must look and sound like a lunatic. What can I do to shoo it away?! It's ruining our previous lovely late night walks.

I've lived in London all my life and never been harassed like this as a female lone walker or had to 'vary my route' before! Help

My daughter used to have fox escorts when she lived in one part of London and came off the tube late at night. They'd follow her all the way home. I'm no use except to say it's not just you!

Artesia · 04/06/2024 23:18

Fleabag- is that you???

changeison · 04/06/2024 23:19

awww, give it some chicken or something, probably hungry

longdistanceclaraclara · 04/06/2024 23:19

We had one like this last year, tbh it scared me. I just used to shout a lot. It moved on when it got a bit older.

thinkfast · 04/06/2024 23:19

Have you tried shouting at it? Spraying water on it? They are fuckers. I hate them.

SheepAndSword · 04/06/2024 23:19

I thought was strange behaviour for a fox?

Carry something which makes a loud noise? No idea, sorry!

Renamed · 04/06/2024 23:20

Wants to play with your dog. It’s not full grown

ProvincialLady2024 · 04/06/2024 23:21

I'd love a fox companion for my walk!

Can you throw it a frankfurter?

Yes I'd say that was a baby. Maybe its mum has been killed. Poor thing. I live semi rurally though and they don't bother you here.

longdistanceclaraclara · 04/06/2024 23:22

@TheFormidableMrsC rural and urban foxes are VERY different.

Beatrixpotts · 04/06/2024 23:24

Everytime I get fed up of mumsnet I see a title like this and it draws me back in! No advice OP, one day you'll look back and laugh (hopefully)😂😂😂

Passiflora2 · 04/06/2024 23:24

Why do you hate it so much? It’s a creature. It’s not doing you any harm.

FuckTheClubUp · 04/06/2024 23:25

Omg I’m loving the pictures in different locations😂 I read an article recently which said that foxes are trying to be more domesticated hence why so many are more willing to follow people round/beg for food. It may want to become your new pet!

I have no advice though. When I get off the bus, there’s always one fox that follows me to the estate, I hate it! I can scream, shout, make fast movements and nothing phases it. Good luck, having to change your route because of a 🦊 is just rude really

Spareincoming · 04/06/2024 23:25

A supersoaker will do the job.

Maybe because it causes OP’s dog to bark and shock horror she didn’t ask for a fox to follow her around all night?!

It's not doing me harm but it's driving my dog absolutely mad and I have to outrun it so my dog will chill and have his night time poo! My dog is really wound up to the point I can feel his heart thumping through the lead

He's young and probably looking for company - maybe he's hoping you'll take him home!🦊

Hugosmaid · 04/06/2024 23:35

😂😂😂😂😂 The pictures have cracked me up!

Maybe it’s your spirit guide 🙏🏻😃

Goldenbear · 04/06/2024 23:35

So horrible, poor fox.

So angry about a living creature.

They have as much right to be here as you.

I think they are lovely little things, and this is a harmless animal trying to befriend someone. I don’t see the harm.

Maybe your dog is feeling your unease rather than the other way round? If you act calmly the dog will probably calm down too. Your dog doesn’t know if the fox is a threat to it so you need to reassure him/her. I hate cruelty to animals. It’s a living being trying to survive in an unnatural environment.

SheepAndSword · 04/06/2024 23:45

It is quite cute if it's trying to be friendly, but OP's concern is her dog
