Has anyone here won money on the People's postcode Lottery?

I keep getting adverts for the Peoples Postcode Lottery. I don't play the National Lottery and I'm not tempted to play this one either.

But it did make me think about whether people do play it, do they win or is it a bit of a scam? A few of my friends have won small amounts (less than £5k) on the National Lottery but I don't know anyone who even plays this one. I'm just intrigued.

I’ve won a few tenners but nothing big!

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 31/05/2024 18:01

Ive won £10 several times.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 31/05/2024 18:01

A whole tenner last month. Woo.

Goawayquickly · 31/05/2024 18:02

Yes, I've won loads of £10 and £15 prizes plus one prize of £1k and a letterbox prize too.

A postcode near me also won a large prize, tens of thousands.

Watto1 · 31/05/2024 18:03

A colleague of mine won £30,000 on it a few years ago. I’ve only ever won a couple of tenners!

PatMustardsBigTool · 31/05/2024 18:03

I won £1000 4 years ago and have won £10 a handful of times. Been playing for about 5 or 6 years I think.

PatMustardsBigTool · 31/05/2024 18:04

Oh and I also won some Twining's tea recently Grin

ChocAuVin · 31/05/2024 18:04

A colleague’s PiLs won tens of thousands a few years back.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 31/05/2024 18:08

interesting! Thanks for your responses. I wasn't tempted to play but I was interested if anyone else has.

Presumably if you get a "big" win so do any of your neighbours who also play. It would be a bit odd if suddenly half the Street had new cars and the other half didn't!

About 6 months ago my neighbour came banging on my door saying “we have won” …..our postcode got £1800……. I then had to tell her that I had stopped playing after Covid!
I then saw my friend and she said don’t mention the postcode lottery - not that she’d ever been in it - it was her actual street - her neighbours won just over £220,000.
my neighbour popped round later and said she hadn’t been gloating she genuinely thought I was in it as we had spoken about it in Covid.
I said oh well it’s too late now - she then told me her boss had won twice ( over £15,000 both times). I rejoined that night - I have won two lots of £10 since.

if you have an online account with them - there is a fun free general knowledge quiz every day..and you can win little prizes with that.

BouleDeSuif · 31/05/2024 18:11

I've won a box of chocolates, two tenners, two £5 Marks and Spencers vouchers and a packet of Twinings tea.

EVHead · 31/05/2024 18:13

No, my big win is scheduled for next week.

MasterShardlake · 31/05/2024 18:19

I've just won a prize, could chose from various low price items, decided on pack of 2 tea towels.
Must get round to cancelling subscription

I don't like chocolate or tea!

But if they were offering coffee and cheese I might be tempted 🤣🤣

Won a few tenners but stopped doing it when the monthly cost went above the lowest prize, win a tenner effectively lose £2 in that month

Hourlyglasshalffull · 31/05/2024 18:32

Not won a penny on it but every surrounding postcode has. You can check on their website how successful your area is.

CheeseWisely · 31/05/2024 18:33

A ex-colleague won a few grand on the postcode lottery, all legit!

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 31/05/2024 18:35

I've won a few tenners and £1000. Waiting patiently on a big one 😂

Roselilly36 · 31/05/2024 18:36

I have won £20 once, a few tenners, a couple of £5 M&S gift cards.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/05/2024 19:04

A few £10 and two pairs of socks!

Oldraver · 31/05/2024 19:59

I've have a few tenners

My Mum won £40,000. They opted to keep it quiet but the local paper printed 'some lucky people in xxx postcode have one a combined x amount'

Now as they live in a block of just twelve flats with the same PO number it was easy to narrow it down, especially for the neighbouring block of flats 😂

Several of her friends owned up to also winning and one had two tickets

Toddlerteaplease · 31/05/2024 20:02

I'm loving the new daily quiz.

GG1986 · 31/05/2024 23:20

I know someone that one £1000 and a friend won £23,000.

distinctpossibility · 31/05/2024 23:26

They are very generous to a wide range of charities, they have lots of foundations set up who all make really meaningful things happen. They're very closely regulated and ethical and have strict policies around things like gambling awareness - all call handlers are dementia trained to ensure no one is taken advantage of. I have a lot of time for them and since I like a flutter that's where I choose to do it 😊

Not won much though!
