I have shared with a few people and got a 🤢 response back

I think it's lovely.

That looks fine. I like mine bleeding. I have it lightly seared for about 30 seconds on as high heat as possible. Sets off the smoke detectors, but it's well worth it.

longdistanceclaraclara · 31/05/2024 15:47

Its grey and looks very sinewy. I like mine rare but the outside needs to properly charred.

bostonchamps · 31/05/2024 15:48

I can't get past the 'generic steak' comment.

It looks a bit lonely on that plate 😂 I like it more charred on the outside and pinker on the inside. I can’t imagine being rude about other people’s choice of food 🤷🏻‍♀️

onawave · 31/05/2024 15:51

I wouldn't. No sear on the outside and too cooked inside. I'm with @TwattyMcFuckFace brother. Horns off and on my plate please.

elevens24 · 31/05/2024 15:53

It's not Cooked enough on the outside but the pinkness is fine.

Comedycook · 31/05/2024 15:56

I don't mind the rareness. I prefer rare steak...but it needs a crust.... searing hot pan so the outside gets nice and dark and charred whilst the inside stays pink.

LoobyDop · 31/05/2024 16:01

That looks like a sad waste to me, I’m afraid- I hope it wasn’t expensive. I’m happy to eat anything from blue to medium, but it needs to look like it’s seen some heat, not just been insipidly warmed through for half an hour.

UpUpUpU · 31/05/2024 16:01

This is a steak! It was rare and blue in the middle. Spectacular.
yours looks anaemic.

Looks rank I'm afraid, and not because it's a bit pink, I always have mine rare or medium rare but it hasn't been cooked in a hot enough pan. Steak should have lovely sear on the outside and juicy, bright pink centre, not be grey and stringy 🤢

this

StaunchMomma · 31/05/2024 16:15

More caramelisation on the outside and more pink on the inside, for me.

BCBird · 31/05/2024 16:22

I like a bit more pink.gravy🤣

sandycans · 31/05/2024 16:37

Ha! Well I'm no chef

But it was delicious. Not sure what cut it was, but it was an Asda cheapie

I like rare or 'blue' steak when out but it's always done medium, it seems, like the establishment is frightened of doing it blue Grin

it's colour is really unappealing - it's very poorly cooked! Needs a good colour/sear on the outside, and much more pink inside.

Also laughing at the I don't like fillet, just steak comment 😂

GentlemanJohnny · 31/05/2024 16:38

Yes, happily.

TarantinoIsAMisogynist · 31/05/2024 16:40

I'm a veggie these days, but when I ate meat I'd have said it wasn't done enough on the outside (it doesn't look well seared), but was too well done on the inside - the inside should be a beautiful pink colour.

mrsbyers · 31/05/2024 16:42

Needs more of a sear

CandiedPrincess · 31/05/2024 16:42

Inside is fine but I like it more cooked on the outside otherwise it just tastes a bit bland.

Elphamouche · 31/05/2024 17:32

I wouldn’t eat that - because it’s a shit cut of meat. I’d rather no steak than a shit one 😂.

but for home cooked, it’s alright, I’d eat it cooking wise. But in a restaurant I’d send it back. Needs to be seared more ok the outside and rarer inside.

User171 · 31/05/2024 17:42

It's quite grey and looks boiled.

Lilmaubetden · 31/05/2024 17:44

Yes, but I do like a little char on the outside.
My preference is for a ribeye.

Ilovelurchers · 31/05/2024 17:45

It looks like a nice steak and if you enjoyed it, job done!

Ignore anybody being actively rude about it - they need to learn some manners.

To me it doesn't look bloody enough for my personal taste - I do like the outside just sealed and the rest of it more or less raw.

But I am not sure the photo is showing up well enough on my phone, as you say it was very rare?

Anyway I'm glad that it was nice.

AhBiscuits · 31/05/2024 17:49

I agree with others, it needed a hotter pan. I want it seared on the outside and less done in the middle.

SquigglePigs · 31/05/2024 17:54

It's a bit over cooked for me, and the outside hadn't got the nice flavourful char it should have but I wouldn't complain or send it back in a restaurant. I'd just be disappointed (and I wouldn't go back!).

PonkyPonky · 31/05/2024 17:59

If you like your steak blue in restaurants you need to cook it differently at home. Have your pan as hot as it will go before you put the steak in and then just 2 minutes each side. It’ll be lovely and juicy and really rare on the inside but you’ll have a proper sear on the outside.
