I have shared with a few people and got a 🤢 response back

I think it's lovely.

Would you eat your steak this way?

Cut its horns off and wipe its bum. That's how I like my steak

newnamethanks · 31/05/2024 13:07

Looks well overcooked. I'd eat it if I had to.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 31/05/2024 13:09

It's seriously overdone, so no, not for a lovely beef fillet steak.

good god no, have you not heard of parasites?😅

Globules · 31/05/2024 13:14

Far too overcooked in my opinion.

And at the risk of sounding sooooo Mumsnet, DD would have agreed with me from when she was 6 years old.

Really fancy a steak now 🤣

IamaRevenant · 31/05/2024 13:18

As others have said I prefer it more seared on the outside and pinker inside. I have a cast iron pan that gets HOT so I'd get that really sizzling and do the steak for maybe 20 seconds max each side so it's quite blackened.

Would also have it covered in freshly ground black pepper.

No, just a steak! I don't like fillets

And no chips. I'm being good Grin

Isn’t fillet steak…a steak?

PMPBlue · 31/05/2024 13:23

No, it doesn't look like it's been cooked well.

I like mine well seared on the outside, and rare in the middle.

TopBun · 31/05/2024 13:25

It doesn’t look well cooked to me. I like mine browned on the outside and blue in the middle. That needs a hotter pan.

CelesteCunningham · 31/05/2024 13:25

Sorry OP, looks badly cooked. I like it much darker on the outside, preferably with lots of coarse salt for crunch. And then red rather than pink in the inside. Your pan needs to be hotter I think.

(I can't cook steak well at all and leave it to DH who does it well, so I'm in no position to judge really!)

CurlewKate · 31/05/2024 13:38

No. Much too "unseared" for me!

PossumintheHouse · 31/05/2024 13:41

Well I love steak tartare, so...

Agree with others that outside isn't seared well.

PlacidPenelope · 31/05/2024 13:47

It doesn't look very appetising to be honest, the colour is off. Another pp said grey and stringy and I agree.

AllumerLeFeu · 31/05/2024 13:49

Not properly seared on the outside and horribly overcooked. I’d send it back if it was served like that in a restaurant.

But I’m half French so like my steak to moo at me as it arrives.

SaltyGod · 31/05/2024 13:53

I’d want it more seared on the outside but I’d still eat it.

I like mine fairly rare

IDoLikeToBeByTheSea · 31/05/2024 13:58

Agree with previous posters. Rare is good for me but it’s not cooked properly (seared top, bottom and around the sides). Chef’s error, not the steak.

clockdoc · 31/05/2024 14:02

What kind of steak?

I would eat fillet steak rare but it would be nicely seared etc. a good quality steak is perfect when rare, a cheaper cut not always so

I would eat sirloin medium rare, rump medium

AffIt · 31/05/2024 14:07

Undercooked on the outside, overcooked on the inside for me.

In saying that, I like my steak cooked in such a way that a good vet could have it back on its feet in a couple of minutes.

What cut of steak is it then?

looks like fillet steak to me…

LifeExperience · 31/05/2024 14:12

The outside could be grilled more, but as long as the center is warm, it's fine. Overcooking good steak should be a crime.

InTheRainOnATrain · 31/05/2024 14:15

Agree with others saying it’s badly cooked and needed a much hotter pan for a proper sear. But cooked properly then yes I’d have it rare.

Comefromaway · 31/05/2024 14:16

I like my steak well done so it would be too rare for me.

TheSandgroper · 31/05/2024 14:16

@sandycans I’m sorry to break it to you but you have just eaten a piece of fillet steak. Steak is a generic word that encompasses a variety of different muscles. This one is the fillet.

The pan wasn’t hot enough. It needed to be properly seared and caramelised.

Yup.

IMO, you need to be in two minds whether to ask for a steak knife or a defibrillator.

That offering looks more like it's been dropped into a vaguely warm pan and then forgotten about until the next order came in when they shoved it into the microwave to warm it up a bit.

Bringbackthebeaver · 31/05/2024 14:23

It just looks like the person who cooked it didn't know what they were doing. It doesn't look very appetising but that's not because it's pink inside, it's just because it's badly cooked.
