That's a shame. Coming right after her comments about him never being 100% right, it might appear that his health issues have taken their toll.

Only surprise is that it took her so long. Hope she will be happy and he won’t.

Maybe she missed the "In sickness and in health" bit. I don't like him but I find her very irritating as well.

SM has been speculating they’ve split for months now.

The timing’s a bit unfortunate for her as people might think she’s walking away from her poor crippled husband.

As others have said I don't know how she put up with him for so long. I hated the way he spoke to her on This Morning. Always putting her down and making sarky comments. Can't bear the man

Ruth can do way better - often wondered what on earth she sees in him!! He’s so tiresome.

I have them both on Instagram. They haven’t done anything together for years. Ruth is either walking the dog, at loose women or QVC. Eammon does his news show most days and then hops over to Ireland to see his family.
I think they’ll be much happier now.

I'm not surprised. I watched a 'documentary' (I use the term loosely) as couple of years ago, about them exploring the super rich- visiting exclusive hotels, going to jewellers to look at Rolexs etc- and I had to turn it off in the end. He was horrible to her throughout- just lots of veiled comments and digs, being a bit sarcastic, generally being quite odious. I'm quite surprised that in editing/post production it wasn't picked up on because it was very obvious to DH and I (or maybe it was and as they'd spent the money making it, decided to put it out anyway)

He turned into one of those intolerant awful old men. I would have dumped him years ago. Nothing to do with his health just his views.

I thought they got divorced a while ago so was surprised to read this. Maybe they just separated for a bit.

He was useful to her when she was unknown but since him being sacked from This Morning, moving to GB News, that interview about Philip Schofield and her career now doing better than his I'm not surprised at all that they're divorcing.

I don't blame her though for getting out, he still acts like a petulant boy.

It's weird. I'm surprised but not at the same time. I've always thought he was extremely unpleasant, but I got the sense she was on board with it. In a 'what's he like, eyeroll' kind of way. I think the way he behaved during the PS debacle would be hard to move past for even the most generous partner. The man nearly self combusted with the fuel from his ego.

I worked with him years ago. He was really nice. It's all about family for him though and I can imagine him going back to NI now that he has grandchildren. Sad that they've split up and I was really surprised.

I don't know what he's like in RL obviously but the way he comes across on TV is like a character from Father Ted. Ruth at least has a bit of a personality.
