Do we believe him?

He knows he has nothing to lose by saying this, because once he's out of office he'll be largely ignored anyway and no-one will care.

I wonder if he would come back to join the line-up of ex PMs at the Remembrance Day wreath laying and similar events?

Maybe the first year, when all eyes are on him.

Then he'll find a way to do it in the US. Bearing in mind if he has to get a green card again, they may not let him in if he leaves. They can be funny about that.

He could join the Sussexes in their Remembrance Day attention seeking.

I think he’s spooked because he can’t take the grey vote for granted any more. Belatedly it’s dawning on him that pensioners are turning against him. If he really wanted to get them back he’d do something about the NHS.

And care home fees. Didn't they promise to do something about those before?

IClaudine · 28/05/2024 16:50

And social care at home, which the Tories promised to fix.

That was the dementia tax that lost May the 2017 election. I imagine Sunak’s been told to steer clear of care payments - which probably means he’ll come up with some hare brained bribe policy tomorrow.

I hope Mogg loses his seat just for doing this to his son, trying to turn him into a mini Mogg. Despicable. Look at the poor boy's face. Who other than the Royals dresses their kids like this?

Mind you, slightly performative use of the umbrella there. I wonder if it's a subtle dig at Sunak's ignorance of how to use them.

BIossomtoes · 28/05/2024 17:14

The CCHQ excuse for the lack of umbrella last week was that they wanted to avoid “Wally with a brolly” headlines. 😂

InMySpareTime · 28/05/2024 17:18

And instead got "Wally without a brolly" headlines 😂

They really need to try and avoid second guessing the wags of the UK. Hopefully they will have learned (they won't) that whatever they imagined was 1% of what the internet can deliver.

I have colleagues in the US asking if this guy is for real. And not in a good way.

Yes, but I think it was also how totally robotic she is.
And not going to see the Greenfell victims.
That tv interview she did was just embarrassing
She believed the hype of the tory 20 point lead

DuncinToffee · 28/05/2024 17:33

Truss has no standards -

Ex-PM Liz Truss is set to appear on far-right, conspiratorial platform Lotus Eaters tomorrow.

Set up by misogynistic influencer Carl Benjamin, LE has promoted the Great Replacement Theory and claimed the World Economic Forum is trying to control society.

Police are investigating comments by a Ukip candidate in the European elections speculating about whether he would rape the MP Jess Phillips amid growing concern over threats to politicians.
Carl Benjamin, Ukip’s candidate for South West England, sent a tweet to the MP for Birmingham Yardley in 2016 saying “I wouldn’t even rape you.” He added to the comments in a recent video saying: “With enough pressure, I might cave.”

If this is where the Conservative Party are headed then they are finished.

BIossomtoes · 28/05/2024 18:03

Jesus. I thought nothing could shock me any more but that … 🤢

I think Truss should be suspended for this but I doubt Sunak could take action even if he wanted to.

I have a theory.

Sunak learns by observing others. Sunak has spent a lot of time observing Johnson and his ignorant buffoon performances and as a result is now trying to behave how he imagines an ignorant buffoon would.

Telegraph having a totally normal one here and forgetting how old 18 year olds were 4 years ago. Hilariously the correction manages to make even less sense. Not sure what debt they owe for being locked down. Do we all owe it?

Well, I worked all through lockdown so they can just fuck right off with that.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/05/2024 18:37

Good point, so did I.

Yes, but how many 18 year olds can say that?

See they have a point.
18 year olds were just lazying around at home on their computers all day, not even going out to walk the dog twice a day or do the shopping.
