Do you think we will get a summer?

I was absolutely freezing in town today and saw people dressed in black huddling and fighting the weather. For Gods Sake!!!

Please tell me. it will improve.

Hopefully not because I hate summer and absolutely love the dark nights.

Sorry. There's always one. It might as well be me 😃

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 23/05/2024 21:19

Nope. We had it last week.

Namechange4765 · 23/05/2024 21:20

Ha ha, I was just looking at the 10-day forecast, which is pretty much 19 degrees every day, thinking how pleasant that was.

MonsteraMama · 23/05/2024 21:21

I think we've had it, it was those two or three blissfully warm days last week.

Back to neverending horizontal rain here in Wales probably for the remainder of the year.

Bluebellsinthewind · 23/05/2024 21:21

I hope so.

Last night was absolutely wild with lashing rain and force winds. I didn't get to sleep until 5am. We have had the log burner on all day it's freezing.

Me too! I like things growing in the summer but that's about it.

Autumn and winter I feel so much more "me".

Meredusoleil · 23/05/2024 21:27

I'm with you OP.

I'm seriously starting to doubt we will see any prolonged period of dry, warm weather. At this rate, the summer solstice will have come and gone and the days will start to get shorter again and it will feel like Autumn already!!!

But where was Spring, never mind Summer?!?

What do you love about it please? ( SAD sufferer)

The fun of Halloween

The fresh feeling on your cheeks on a frosty morning walk

Being in bed all cozy when it's dark outside and listening to relaxing music

Appreciating a nice hot bath

Being able to fall asleep earlier

Not feeling anti social on a Saturday evening if I'm home alone

Bastard motorbikes not being revved around so much and anti social behaviour

No hayfever or flies / wasps everywhere

(I used to say bonfire night but as much as I love watching fireworks I hate the bangers and my heart breaks for the wildlife so I'd happily see it banned for the sake of animals. Never thought I'd say that but in the last few years animal welfare has been highlighted a lot more in November and this should come first).

FoxRedPuppy · 23/05/2024 21:39

I like the lack of heat, anything over 20 is too hot for me. Not having to constantly tho no about sun cream. I like it being dark in the mornings so I can sleep!

I do like sunshine and the rain this winter and spring has been immense. But I’m not a heat lover.

Riverlee · 23/05/2024 21:39

I’m hoping as well. I want to wear my summer dresses, and not live in jeans all year round. I’m not asking for much , sunny, warm and above 23 would suit me.

Meredusoleil · 23/05/2024 21:43

I'm quite happy for it to be 20-25 degrees, but most importantly, dry and sunny. Not cloudly or drizzly. And let it last please!

Isitchill · 23/05/2024 21:44

I'm getting a bit worried tbh. My lips went blue today on my lunchbreak walk, (I had a jacket on) and the cold is hurting my hands.
The end of last summer was awful too.

This makes me realise I am built differently to others. I wore jeans and long sleeve tshirt today, no jacket. It’s not been cold, just a bit cooler than last weekend.

Octavia64 · 23/05/2024 21:47

Not bothered if it gets warm but would like to put in a request for the rain to stop,

Tumbleweed101 · 23/05/2024 21:51

Doesn't need to be over 25C but a prolonged spell of sunshine would be lovely after such a wet winter in this area!

Pigeonqueen · 23/05/2024 21:52

We will have about 4 days of 40 degree heat. That will be summer. Then back to rain.

nildesparandum · 23/05/2024 21:55

I felt rather sorry seeing a group of rain soaked pigeons huddled together outside a cafe in my local shops today. They congregate there every day waiting in hope of diners on the pavement cafe throwing them a few crumbs. They must have been desperate.
Normally I hate pigeons for the mess they make and the damage they are capable of doing to property.

Twofifty · 23/05/2024 21:55

I filled a freezer drawer with ice lollies after the nice weather last week, I thought summer had finally started - we haven't had one yet!

TheThingIsYeah · 23/05/2024 21:58

Let's hope so as the nights start drawing in this time next month.

What we all doing for Christmas, MNetters?

LemonzandLimez · 23/05/2024 22:07

Nope, no Summer for Us and it makes me SO sad 😭

TheChosenTwo · 23/05/2024 22:22

I’d settle for 4 guaranteed weeks of 25 right now, it’s just been shit!
I want to be able to have people round and host garden things instead of us all having to be indoors. We’ve had some tempting glimmers over the last few weeks but at no point have I been able to sigh with relief that the bleak never ending rain is behind us.
I love the hot weather but would accept 25 as long as it was consistently sunny and lovely!

AramintaTittington · 23/05/2024 22:28

Come on people! Chin up!

Last time I checked, May was not considered a summer month

Granted, it's approaching summer but it isn't

Let's all manifest some warm weather together shall we?

EasilyDefined · 23/05/2024 22:29

I'm hoping for a couple of months of daytime temps 18-22°C, plenty of sunshine and plenty of overnight rain. I love the long hours of daylight and wish we had them all year round I love being out and about really early and late and it still being light. Please please please no heatwaves though, they are the worst.
