I was absolutely freezing in town today and saw people dressed in black huddling and fighting the weather. For Gods Sake!!!

Please tell me. it will improve.

Although I am much more an autumn/winter person, I am totally with you op. I'm sick of the constant rain and wind and cold. I do appreciate the warmth and the sun it makes you feel soooo much better. And just being able to dry things outside is the best part. However, my biggest hatred about summer is the insects especially ESPECIALLY the wasps 😡 but if we're going to have wasps and flies anyway we might as well have the heat with them

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/05/2024 22:43

I wore a t-shirt today because it was too warm for anything heavier after about 9am, the roses are out around 2 weeks early from the warmth and moisture and it was perfectly nice weather from shortly after I got to work.

It's been a wet spring, but it's better than water shortages and wildfires.

Notsonifty50 · 23/05/2024 23:04

Summer will arrive in September once the children are back in school.

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/05/2024 23:07

Could be wrong but isn’t May still Spring?

tillyandmilly · 23/05/2024 23:11

Perfect today at 20 degrees- wore sandals- not that awful humid blistering heat - I hope it stays like this temperature for the rest of the summer though👍

What do you love about it please? ( SAD sufferer)

Just to add - I love the winter as I feel much more settled. Sunny bright days make me feel overstimulated and I can't get settle down to work or anything really.

I do like a BBQ though!

Yep still spring.
June, July & august are summer months.

Mairzydotes · 24/05/2024 07:01

Yes. We always get a summer. It isn't related to how pleasant the weather is, it is about the increase in daylight, the leaves on the trees and their yearly cycle.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/05/2024 07:03

June July and August will as usual be horribly warm

fieldsofbutterflies · 24/05/2024 07:06

I find these threads a bit odd tbh - a few days of rain in May doesn't mean that that's all the warm weather over for another year Grin

Vettrianofan · 24/05/2024 07:17

I bought summer dresses at the weekend so I have jinxed it. Sorry 🤣

DatingDinosaur · 24/05/2024 07:19

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 23/05/2024 21:19

Nope. We had it last week.

This 😂

I judge summer by whether or not I need to turn my heating on in a morning.

Today is summer 🙄

Yesterday wasn't 😀

Vettrianofan · 24/05/2024 07:19

Anything over 14C and it's too warm 🥵

Peonies12 · 24/05/2024 07:20

It’s only on MN I see this obsession with the seasons. Just get on with your life, I rarely notice the weather

cyclamenqueen · 24/05/2024 07:21

Apart from one day the weather has been beautiful this week , woken up this morning to a bright blue sky again . east Anglia

Waitingfordoggo · 24/05/2024 07:23

It’s only May still.

I’m on the south coast and it’s quite settled here. It felt autumnal yesterday morning (chilly, grey, drizzly) but brightened up in the afternoon. Generally we are having mostly sunny days at the moment. Not hot but warm which is ideal for me. ☀️

Hereyoume · 24/05/2024 07:25

Unfortunately not.

We have had our summer.

Long range forecasts and a quick look at weather modelling sites pretty much confirm it.

Not as much of a wash out as last "summer", but basically just cool, dull and breezy, with above average rainfall for the foreseeable future.

I guess a lot of places will be trying to get rid of garden furniture though, so you might get a bargain that you can hopefully use next year.

FlamingoFlamboyance · 24/05/2024 07:34

No I think we've had the best of it until September now.

Would absolutely love a proper heatwave that lasts a few weeks, would let me defrost a bit and finally stop having the heating on/fire on in the lounge.

It’s impossible to do a long range forecast. The most that can be accurately forecast is 3 days. A good guess can be given up to 7 days.

To the OP, I hope it does get better. I am in Scotland. Dry would be good!

When I read the long range forecasts I interpreted it as a warm and sunny summer, some rain but a generally warm one was expected!
I also read this elsewhere so panic bought clothes last week ready!

Dry and 24 degrees ish is perfect

Citygirlrurallife · 24/05/2024 07:43

I would like it to just stop raining long enough to dry up the mud I’ve been dragging the dog through for the last 8 months

Yes!

Beautiful sunny day today, top temps of 19 and tomorrow is 21. Perfect

ATribeCalledQuestion · 24/05/2024 07:45

19/20 degrees and some sun is wonderful. It's lovely and sunny in my back garden right now and no rain forecast. I don't need bikini weather, I just don't want to wear a coat!

Yeh we will get summer. It'll be hit and miss, there will be days of glorious sun and there will be rain. But summer isn't just about tiny clothes and sunburn 😁

I'm meeting friends for an afternoon in the pub next weekend and I am confident we will be in the garden, which somehow makes it feel so much more acceptable to be drinking wine at 12.30 😂

Anyway I'm off to have my morning coffee in my garden 😎

Sunnyandsilly · 24/05/2024 07:48

I think it will be a very hot summer. It’s cyclical, every two years apparently at the moment, so yes, I think this will be the year of hose pipe bans.

anythinginapinch · 24/05/2024 07:50

Our crops need summer. Ffs
