I was absolutely freezing in town today and saw people dressed in black huddling and fighting the weather. For Gods Sake!!!

Please tell me. it will improve.

Like last year? we had a short break in Wales in July and I had to buy extra clothes from a charity shop.

Negative thoughts are filling my head. I have lots of photos and memories of hot summers as a child. This just isn't normal.

Do you not have any rainy or cold summer memories too? I have many happy memories of anoraks on the beach, eating picnics under umbrellas, running to the outdoor loo in torrential rain 😂

Tumblewit · 24/05/2024 16:02

Well it’s still spring, and we’ve had some lovely weather around here lately!

Not happy ones , no.

Laughing at the hot chocolate and snuggling. That and a long walk with a spaniel before gathering round the Aga.

Well I bought a hosepipe today. Thus, guaranteeing this bank holiday weekend will be a washout but summer (when it comes) will be a heatwave with a hosepipe ban Grin

I have finally learnt to love all seasons (only took me 50 years!) So while I am more comfortable in cooler weather, I am hoping we get some hot days too.

I also bought new garden furniture so I'm going to be gutted if it doesn't get much use!

dontforgetme · 24/05/2024 17:28

I'm not a summer lover, but I am hoping for the fucking rain to stop!

100% agree, me too

RampantIvy · 25/05/2024 10:21

I want to cut the meadow that is my lawn.

Crikeyalmighty · 25/05/2024 10:33

If it wasn't for Brexit I would suggest all these snugglers and year round hygge lovers move to Denmark- we used to get 3 months of 19 to 25 degree sun with an odd showery day and rest of year it was back to the hygge- less rain and wind than uk though and I personally think more sun - but that may just be for the 22 months we lived there

Totallybannanas · 25/07/2024 11:37

Doesn't seem like it 😭

familyissues12345 · 25/07/2024 13:41

Seems pretty typical British summer to me, some hot days, some wet days..

Tumblewit · 25/07/2024 14:09

We’ve had some lovely weather where I am - raining today but then the next ten days forecast is sun ☀️☀️

Oblomov24 · 25/07/2024 14:10

No. I think this is it.

socks1107 · 25/07/2024 14:17

Next week looks lovely where I am ( and I'm off work the week 😄)

OnHisSweaterAlreadyMomsSpaghetti · 25/07/2024 14:18

MonsteraMama · 23/05/2024 21:21

I think we've had it, it was those two or three blissfully warm days last week.

Back to neverending horizontal rain here in Wales probably for the remainder of the year.

It’s like we got the free trial but didn’t want to pay for the subscription 😂

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 25/07/2024 14:49

The next two weeks look nice but today is a bit pants

Loafbeginsat60 · 25/07/2024 14:54

We have been off school for 3.5 weeks now and we have had two sunny days. North Scotland. It wasn't even sunny all day, went cloudy after lunch.

😞

OhmygodDont · 25/07/2024 15:07

Might as well get the Christmas tree out the loft at this point. Zero summer. We got one or two hot days 😅

Another day of is it about to rain do I need to fetch the washing in. Plus side I don’t need to water the plants, down side they are growing so slowly and the slugs are loving the wet weather and trying to eat all the plants. So yeah no plus side.

VolvoFan · 25/07/2024 15:16

Unlikely. Unless August comes with a gorgeous 36C, then no. That's why they call it 'climate change'. Too hot? Climate change. Too cold? Climate change. Too wet? Climate change. Everything is climate change. Anything to guilt people into using less gas, water, electricity and fuel and stop living their lives as they want.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 25/07/2024 15:18

But, but...
It's been a perfect summer so far - cool and comfortable temperatures, very few days of ghastly blazing sun and intense heat which is unbearable if, like me, you work outside in a physical, manual occupation, plenty of rain ( precious, life giving stuff) to keep everything fresh, lush and green without that dry, bleached, 'summer tired' look. Plenty warm enough to be in a t- shirt, comfortable to sleep at night - perfection!

blobby10 · 25/07/2024 15:55

I don't like the really warm days ie above 25 degrees but I am missing the blue skies - this summer when its not actually raining, its cloudy which, however warm it is under the cloud, makes it a gloomy day. And the warm nights are horrid. Having said that, I had 10 days in Cornwall earlier this month and came back with quite a suntan despite only sitting in the sunshine on the beach a couple of days. rest of the time it was cloudy albeit dry but I guess being outside all the time gave me that weathered look Grin

Michiru · 25/07/2024 16:01

I'd be the first to complain, and have been on many threads about the rain, but we've been having 2 weeks of barely any rain, temperatures in the mid-20s and it's looking to be another week or two of this at least.

My flowers have finally blossomed. My garden is still overgrown and I've lost all my crops to slugs earlier this year, but this is, finally, summer I can live with, even if it's not 30C and sunny all the time.

WhatNoRaisins · 25/07/2024 16:43

I'm actually quite liking this combination of it being overcast but dry and warm without being hot. Good for taking kids to the park.

sausawyee · 25/07/2024 19:06

We have had the best garden ever this year with so many white hydrangeas it looks like snow! Grey skies though - pah! I don't think it's going to get any better until September .

Down in the South East and my garden looks like shit.

My tomatoes are looking rubbish, 1 bloody tomato on 4 plants, my rose bush has had a strop and lost all its leaves and looks about dead as it's had too much water, I really hope I can rescue it in the next couple of weeks as it was a moving in present from my mum.

My acer is starting to do its autumn colours, which looks lovely but it shouldn't be bright red until at least September.

My garden is over run with slugs.
