What can you no longer do?

I’ll start. I have donated blood since my university days (80’s). I can’t do that now as I was diagnosed with cancer in. 2022. It’s strange, but this is a thing that really upsets me.

I can’t kneel down. I work (until tomorrow!) in a nursery and many years of getting down to do nappys has led to a build up of fluid in both knees.

Sapphire387 · 23/05/2024 21:14

I'm sorry to hear about your cancer, and wishing you all the best in your recovery. I also cannot donate blood, after receiving a transfusion when my older daughter was born.

At the moment, it seems I can no longer go through life without anxiety. I'm working hard to change that but sometimes it feels it will never truly be gone, or even manageable.

OldTinHat · 23/05/2024 21:19

The splits.

Sounds insignificant. But it's a symptom of everything that is wrong with me.

Drink wine with dinner. I’ll be up at 2:00 with restless legs and hot flushes. I miss white wine.

thisisasurvivor · 23/05/2024 21:25

I can no longer drink booze

It has taken over my life and I have realised it is something that can no longer be part of my life

TrustPenguins · 23/05/2024 21:26

Run - or go on a trampoline! - without wetting myself!

HerbertVonDoodlebug · 23/05/2024 21:27

Drink alcohol
Stay up past midnight
Run or do any high-impact exercise (thanks, pelvic floor)
Swim in a chlorinated pool (thanks, middle-aged eczema)

NecklessMumster · 23/05/2024 21:27

Sleep through the night without having to get up for a wee. Eat toffee as it will pull out my fillings etc. Wake up without anxiety.

BeretRaspberry · 23/05/2024 21:30

Exercise
Have a social life
Walking in the lakes
Drink alcohol
Wear perfume
Also give blood

MyGreenFinch · 23/05/2024 21:30

It’s difficult for me to walk without shoes on now (feet went flat at menopause). I can do it, but it’s uncomfortable. Having a shower feels really weird. It’s like all the padding under my feet has gone.

I have this now too! Are you telling me it won’t ever go away? Drives me mad!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 23/05/2024 21:32

Eat whatever I want (which is a lot of high calorie food) without putting on an ounce.

Well, it was a good four and a half decades 😌

VeraForever · 23/05/2024 21:32

I can't get up from the sofa without using my arms.

Treesaleaving · 23/05/2024 21:33

Mine seem trivial but here goes.

Drink alcohol - it never really agreed with me but as I age, I can't even handle one without getting sleepy and emotional.

Have a social life - single parent and an ex with 'big hobby'. It's not worth the hassle. I ache to have a hobby or go out but I guess I'll wait until DC are grown.

Wear foundation!!!

jlox · 23/05/2024 21:34

Sleep well 🥲

ImaMumtoaboy · 23/05/2024 21:36

Have a cup of tea after 6pm. I won't sleep and be up and down to the loo during the night.

coffeewithmilk · 23/05/2024 21:36

Can't conceive naturally as no longer have fallopian tubes!

Bend my knees more than 90 degrees, even that feels like they are going to explore from all of the fluid in them.

StarShipControl · 23/05/2024 21:39

Focus on a book. I seem to have lost the ability to read and enjoy any book.
