What one do you choose?

I'm just curious.

For me it's always a sprinkle doughnut Grin I never really explore other options.

I am so obsessed by those big, pillowy apple 'danish' that are just a vast rectangle of apple-stuffed bread dough slathered in white icing (and preferably with toasted almond flakes sprinkled on top) that sometimes I make a whole batch of them at home.

I would do actual violence for a London Cheesecake (notable for being... not a cheesecake). You can't get them round here, though, and I've never been able to find the right coconut shreds to make them myself.

Edited

Aldi London cheesecake is actually quite good

Sunnydaysaregone · 21/05/2024 22:19

A caramel custard donut from Greggs 😋

I’m a cheap date!

Instinct1 · 21/05/2024 22:22

Vermicelli caramel cake 😋

Gorgonemilezola · 21/05/2024 22:22

Vanilla slice
Custard tart
Yorkshire curd tart
Strawberry tart with patisserie cream
Eccles cake

A Swiss bun , then take it home and put butter in it

Tarkan · 21/05/2024 22:23

Our local bakery has started doing cheesecake filled doughnuts and they're amazing. It's only round the corner from my house so the temptation to pop in for one is always there. Grin

wutheringkites · 21/05/2024 22:24

@Persipan

I'd forgotten London Cheesecakes existed and it must have been more than 20 years since I've had one but I can remember exactly what they taste like. That coconut is amazing.

Gypsy Tart - I'm in Kent, I've never sen it anywhere else.

School lunch - gypsy tart and half an apple with the vague hope the damage your poor teeth would be slightly mitigated.....

Goldenphoenix · 21/05/2024 22:25

A Viennese whirl or an apple doughnut for me!

TimoteiChaletpants · 21/05/2024 22:26

I’m a whore for everything except old fashioned egg custard tart

Bluesuitredtie · 21/05/2024 22:26

Me too for a cheesecake but invariably they are disappointing with not enough jam and icing.

a jolly nice raspberry jam donut (no skimping on the jam) is what I buy the most.

Sux2buthen · 21/05/2024 22:26

Top hat doughnut

oh a sprinkle donut could never catch my eye.

I like something custardy.

I did have a feeling I would be in the minority with the sprinkle doughnut! I think it's perhaps more of a child's choice but I love them!

Some amazing cakes listed on this thread, I may need to make a list and start making my way through them 🤣

Lemon drizzle

AdoraBell · 21/05/2024 22:26

Eccles cake.

Twolittleloves · 21/05/2024 22:27

Hehe love this! At greggs it's either a bavarian slice, pink Jammie or Belgian bun for me.This is making me hungry...

PrimalLass · 21/05/2024 22:28

FannyFifer · 21/05/2024 22:04

Fudge donut from Fisher & Donaldsons.

Or a coffee tower, or a strawberry tart, or a yum yum ...

But always F&D.

TheChosenTwo · 21/05/2024 22:29

blackforest beignet, fortitude bakehouse is a couple of minutes from my office, I was once lucky enough to get one and oh my god it was fucking divine!
Actually everything I’ve ever had from there has been very good.

SallyWD · 21/05/2024 22:30

Where are all these bakeries? I'd love to go to a good old fashioned bakery. We only have Greggs...

Scampuss · 21/05/2024 22:30

Persipan · 21/05/2024 22:16

Fuck me, I think I've just found the right coconut! It's been a while since I last googled it. I do have to buy a kilo of it, though, which will be a terrible hardship. 🤷

Pleeeeeaaaaase share the link to the coconut!

Haven't had London cheesecake since the 70s and would love to have a go at making a gluten free one.

RobinBobbin · 21/05/2024 22:30

I do like a slab of bread pudding.

Or a fresh cream-filled apple turnover or two.

rinseandrepeat1 · 21/05/2024 22:32

@Persipan @wutheringkites I'd also forgotten London cheesecake exists! Are they filled with something? I can't remember. I had them a lot as a child.

London Cheesecake <swoon>. When I worked in a bakery as my Saturday job we called them shaggy cakes!

RobinBobbin · 21/05/2024 22:33

Filled with raspberry jam. Do Greggs still sell them?

Shodan · 21/05/2024 22:33

I like a cinnamon swirl or a good old-fashioned iced finger.

Pushing the boat out would be a fresh cream apple turnover.
