Hornchurch: Woman dies in XL bully attack at home www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-69041493

She was the owner and sounds like she had a couple of them. They were registered but clearly that doesn't and didn't stop this preventable death.

they won't want to upset the feral low IQ fools who keep these things
@sp1ders tbh it's probably more likely that the government don't want to upset the pet industry.
The pet industry focuses on persuading pet owners that the animals are human or at least equivalent to humans. They do this because it makes people spend more money on their pets. Anything which works against this, which reminds people that some dogs are dangerous predators, is a threat to the profits of the industry and they will lobby hard against it

A guy near me walks his Cane Corso always on lead. No muzzle. Yet this dog is reactive to other dogs and he has to tie it to a pole or fence if he spots another dog.

This is a grown man and he can't control his very large dog.

In another incident, an off lead staffy type which has previously attacked other dogs, mauled to death a tiny dog. Nothing being done as it was dog on dog.

Something with the law needs to change.

A teeny tiny lady (size 4) 5 foot walked into a children's play ground area (woodland with equipment but no fence) with 2 cane corso's on leads with no muzzles. I quickly rounded up our group and we moved. Fast. Not a chance she could have done anything if it chose to run let alone attack. Madness.

0sm0nthus · 01/06/2024 14:47

She got those dogs to protect her help her feel safe, what she doesn't realize is that they are just keeping her sweet until they fancy a bit of fun and rip her throat out.

This is true.

Sadly another attack this weekend. Someone's beloved pet has been savaged by one of these beasts

That poor woman having to witness that and then tell her daughter what happened!

She must have been terrified.

Whilst it's not necessarily a bad thing to ask for muzzles in public, dogs to be registered etc, it has pretty much always been the case that fatal dog attacks seem to happen in domestic settings (where there are no legal mitigations) so I'm slightly dubious about how the new legislation will minimise them.
There was a horrendous story of a young boy killed by a dog in a caravan a few years ago. He was alone in the caravan with the dog iirc.
Often people are killed by dogs known to them, belonging to family or friends....in the dogs home....which could, and is, still happening....

I have had a rescue chihuahua cross from a puppy.

She is impeccable, has all her good citizen awards and loves every person and animal she meets.

I still have her gated in another room with me when dc's friends come to play, and never leave her in a room alone with them. Because even though I love and trust her, there is always a chance something could happen.

I can't fathom how these people just forget that their dog is actually an animal, and never 100% trustworthy. These ones that could tear a grown man to shreds are terrifying and these people leave them with children...

How awful and horrifying those poor people.
I noticed that the Pitbull type dog that attacked was destroyed. From memory I don't think they were previously routinely destroyed after attacking or killing another dog, so this is a small improvement?

Misthios · 03/06/2024 12:53

I can't fathom how these people just forget that their dog is actually an animal,

You seriously have not noticed how many people treat their animal just like a furry human? I have just had the misfortune to spend the weekend with one of these animals, its owners refer to it as their "daughter" and they are its "parents". It is not told off for jumping up at people (she just wants to say hello!) and allowed to beg for food at the table (aawwww, she sees us eating and wants to join in with the rest of the family!). It whines and moans when not getting attention.

Just as well this particular animal is a labradoodlecockapoo thing and not a pitbull cross.

0sm0nthus · 03/06/2024 12:56

Humans are extremely prone to being anthropomorphic, we need no encouragement to convince ourselves that pets are mini humans.
The pet industry encourages this all it can in order to persuade us to spend more money on our animal companions.

0sm0nthus · 03/06/2024 12:59

When you live intimately with a large powerful predator the Predator has multiple opportunities to size you up, it can feel exactly how easy would be to kill you.
A small animal senses that it has no chance of overpowering you and so it is submissive.

Another attack reported today, man in Bristol area left with life changing injuries, report says that the animal was a registered XL bully

Jesus Christ what will it take for a cull to happen? I swear if one of these things touched a family member or my dog it would end up with a knife in its throat and if it killed any of the same, so would it’s owner.

0sm0nthus · 03/06/2024 18:50

I saw one today, head like a cannon ball, walked by a young girl who looked all of 7 stone. Saw one yesterday too, myself & another who was walking a little ahead of me women crossed the road to avoid it.
There are reports of them bursting out of houses & gardens and then attacking. We can scan ahead & avoid them but it's hard to avoid them if they come out of nowhere like some kind of horror film.

JammyJellyfish · 03/06/2024 19:05

Add Cane Corsos into the mix - same issue. Dog bred for protection and agression being used as a house pet and not trained.

And in the owners eye's it is just a big misunderstood fur baby which should be allowed to continue to attack other people (already bitten someone else in the past).

The three-year-old Cane Corso, named Hendrix, bit Katie Foster on the arms and leg while she was working, leaving her with seven 'gaping' wounds.

One came barrelling towards me from behind the local dive pub the other day. I had my baby in a pushchair and my toddler walking beside me. Luckily the alley it came from was gated. If it hadn't been, the beast would have surely come for us, judging by its speed and snarling. My children were terrified.

There is a video from a Welsh farm where two XL bullies tore apart 22 Sheep
The farmer shoots the horrible XL's and when they spot him, the roar is Demonic.. before he shot them.

Not like a normal dog at all.

Police in America said the same thing, when retrieving the body of Mia Derouen {aged 4} - that the XL bully sounded Demonic.

The video where farmer shoots XL's is in this article.

They are so dangerous.

Bloody hell, they really do sound demonic

I know someone who has 3, by the time the pups she bred were ready to go it had been decided they should be banned so she struggled getting rid if them and ended up having to keep 2

0sm0nthus · 03/06/2024 20:57

@PurpleChrayn will you report the dog, surely that counts as being out of control, can you avoid the area from now on?

Has anyone reported these things? I've only ever seen one with a muzzle on and I'd think the owner of that one doesnt muzzle it anymore since all the other owners are nonchalantly walking them & revelling in the fear they engender.

I dont think I've seen a cane corso irl, @JammyJellyfish that poor woman, and the owner only caring about his dog. It's so depressing and upsetting🙁

This video shows an xl trying to attack the most vulnerable person in the group on the beach. Its mannerisms are like a playful dog but it'd intent is to attack the elderly man. Thank god for the brave people that encircled him and kept him safe. Trigger warning although no actually gore its pretty scary to watch

I suggest and it isnt just XL Bullies etc that the real thing than needs strict controls on is breeding, so you cant own an un-neutered dog without a licence and having to account for any puppies

This isn't even an XL, but much smaller!
This looks more of a ''Staffy'' type but it has already bitten the old man -{Bleeding leg} Bull breeds are often vicious towards the vulnerable.
