I was complaining to my neighbour that I had been denied access to a facebook group (fyi the bar for men is so low it’s a tavern in hades), she said she was once rejected for joining a bowl club facebook group….. the worst part is that she set up the bowls club in question and is currently their treasurer!! Can anyone beat that?

I was once on a group called Stop Working For Free. Every now and then someone would come onto it to ask how much someone should be paid for something and a bunch of them posted horrible comments. There was one in particular who had been told to pull together a budget for a project and needed to put a number in for how much a musician would cost over a couple of weeks (say) in XYZ country. So she thought all these people who were sick of being asked to work for free would be okay with telling her how much they would expect to be paid.

She was wrong. That group is only for complaining.

A dog rescue group who wanted suggestions for a name for a lovely black dog they were bringing in from Spain - I suggested the Spanish word for black (f).
I genuinely didn't get it until DD pointed it out

Omg that's hilarious - they would not have believed it was innocent!

I got booted from a local weather report page because the egotistical owner of the group didn't like the fact that someone called him out for speaking to his followers like shit (calling them dumbfucks for asking questions) and I liked the post that told him to knock it off.

Was it Windy Wilson or someone trying to be very similar in style to him?

Tylot · 17/05/2024 01:28

WIWIKAU for saying my child went to state school. The group is run by independent schoolers which I have absolutely no problem with but they did not want it mentioned that a state school pupil could possibly be going to uni!

YaMuvva · 17/05/2024 01:32

Some FB group admins are just people who could never stand up to their bullies at school so project onto people asking perfectly normal questions

fluffypuffyrug · 17/05/2024 01:40

A baby led weaning group removed me because I said I was weaning my baby with a mix of spoon fed and finger foods.

My baby had very little interest in milk and was dropping weight so as soon as she was 6 months I made a real effort to give her proper filling meals to make up for not having much milk. Nutritionally it was necessary.

I also gave her things like egg and soldiers, vegetable sticks, sandwiches etc so she could experience feeding herself. I just wanted to make sure plenty of food was going in, and not ending up on the floor.

Anyway, I was only in the group for meal ideas but they were like the mafia! They said I couldn't be in their club unless i was completely baby led because it's dangerous and confusing to babies GrinGrinGrin

LivingDeadGirlUK · 17/05/2024 07:23

Totally reading this to see if anyone I've booted posts :D

'I got booted from a freebie page because I asked for something but couldn't be bothered to pick it up and am too important to message the gifter and let them know' or 'I got booted from a freebie site for PMing someone without invitation to, I know there is a rule against this but how could I know this applied to me as well as the other group members? I really wanted to get my sob story in but knew admins would delete a public begging post so what else could I have done?' and lastly 'I got booted from a freebie site because when an admin messaged me to point out I had broken a rule but was giving me another chance, I obviously had to become incredibly abusive to her, what else could I have done in that situation!?'

I was banned without explanation from a wildlife gardening group after posting a picture of a nest box in my garden and asking if its placement was ok. I checked the rules and I've no idea what I did wrong . Fuck those wildlife gardening motherfuckers anyway 🖕🖕

LOL!

All the meanness of BLw groups is making my early menopause not feel so awful, I had genuinely forgotten how crazy those early years make people. Eurgh!

The reducing UPF groups are also pretty batshit.

Bornnotbourne · 17/05/2024 13:57

@MissusPotato sadly I think the much needed awareness caused by Ultra processed people has caused Orthorexia in some people. When I read the book, I found it to be a rallying cry better food regulation, however, many of my friends have become obsessive and in some instances unwell due to it.

There's no excuse for rudeness, but to be fair, some groups are specifically those with a particular interest or belief so it's not really suprising that those who don't share them aren't necessarily welcome with open arms. I cook a lot of vegan and vegetarian food but I also eat meat sometimes so I wouldn't join a group for vegans. Or if I did and then told them I ate meat, I'd expect to be given a hard time, probably kicked out or at the very least to have people try to vigorously persuade me to give up meat. So surely it's only to be expected that members of a BLW group would promote BLW and be critical of traditional weaning?

Absolute nonsense. I have been on WIWIKAU for ages and have never seen bias like that. It is as evenly split as society generally.

Weird! Definitely chucked me off for that

The huge majority of people on there have children at / from state schools. Your logic would determine that they would all be thrown off as well, leaving a decimated site.
You must have got into a bunfight or something 🙂

No, I had never commented in anything. I was trying to post a question. It said in it my child went to state school, they said they don't allow mention of what kind of school your child went to and blocked me. There was nothing controversial in my post at all and reason given was as I stated above.
Just because you haven't experienced the prejudice doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Don't state with certainty that it's absolute rubbish, it happened!
Edited to add: I hadn't mentioned anything about my logic in my post? It was nothing to do with my logic, it was thr literal reason I was given for being banned.

RenoDakota · 17/05/2024 17:10

@Tylot - the weird logic was your idea that "they did not want it mentioned that a state school pupil could possibly be going to uni!".

I couldn't come up with another explanation for the ban. There was zero controversial content in waht I was trying to ask. If you have better logic then please do help explain

@Bornnotbourne @OVienna I'm in!!!! First attempt 😂

@FrangipaniBlue what did you write? I’m really jealous!!

I wasn’t accepted for a slow cooker fudge group. No idea why.

FrangipaniBlue · 22/05/2024 22:15

I can't properly remember because it took about a week for the admins to approve me.....

Some were straightforward like "what does rule no X say all posts must include...." so just quoted exactly what the rule said.

There was another where I wrote a lot of twaffle that didn't really make a lot of sense.... something about not taking offence and things personally?

FrangipaniBlue · 22/05/2024 22:17

It's a bit weird..... some posts are quite funny..... others make me side eye because they're a bit of a stretch !!

FloozingThePlot · 22/05/2024 22:29

Booted out of a craft selling group for reporting to the admin posts breaching the group rules. Bizarre.
