Would you pay 8K for this?

All inclusive for a week in Greece.

I have fallen in love with the place, love the muted tones.

But is any all inclusive holiday for 7 nights worth £8,000? For 2 adults and 2 DC

I spend around £3k and find the places I go are really nice. Would it really be worth the extra £5k?

I don't have that kind of money, anyway Grin but genuinely interested to see if that type of place is worth it when you can go someone very nice for 2-3K

I spend that and more on sun holidays for 2 adults 2 children each year, but not for 1 week in Greece and wouldn’t do even if top end luxury

You can go to so many other places at upper 4 and 5 hotels and amazing experiences, and
for longer than a week for the same money

Sorry, I couldn't get past 'muted tones'.

That is a seriously weird reason to pick a holiday.

Icehockeyflowers · 15/05/2024 23:21

I couldn't and wouldn't pay it.

People saying that its all inclusive and 'all drinks are premium' but it states on the website that 'champagne on arrival' and 'Selected local-brand alcohol, soft drinks, tea and coffees' are included.

That wouldn't bother me personally as I drink a glass or two of wine with my lunch and/or evening meal and otherwise tea/coffee (Greek coffee is way too strong for me too).

But regardless of the above, (and very simply paying 2K each x four people) - 2K for an adult is expensive but if its the ultimate relaxing holiday, can be justified BUT 2K for a child for seven days is way too much.

We went to a much less expensive all inclusive on one of the Greek Islands and we left the resort every morning at 10am to tour the island, returning at 7pm every evening. We ate in local restaurants during the day so I'm definitely not the target market for AI.

I've stayed several times at Sani and also Martinhal in Portugal with a toddler and a small child and baby. We got our half board holiday for around £3-4k for the week in their nicer accomodation by going during the first week of the season when they are just opening up and have new staff. The service has always been amazing and it's been quieter. A friend of mine paid £8k for the same holiday, only busier, in the summer.

Nope - food at all inclusive is normally shit. Book it all separately and you'll get much better quality for the same price.

For comparison I am going to Florida next week and have booked a 4* Sheraton villa + BA direct flights + Universal + Disney + Discovery Cove tickets + hire car = £9,000 for 4 of us. £8k is not good value for money for what you are getting.

Edited

Is that including food?

Im currently in a 5* resort in Turkey… cos me just under 4k for 2 weeks for 4 of us. Same resort next year in August but for 10 days is even less!! Will be booking the day im
back!! It’s amazing!!

They really aren’t.

Tui do have IKOS but they’re mainly done through their own website, they are very different to the good turkey ones. The only one which might be near it would be Hillside

Oh will take a look at that, thanks

Still2unfit · 16/05/2024 00:21

Wouldn't want to pay that if there's children around.

Well, it seems expensive to me.

I'm thinking of spending £800 quid for an all-inclusive Saga holiday in Montenegro.

5YearsLeft · 16/05/2024 01:25

These just seems crazy. I mean, there is SO much you could do with £8K for a holiday. And like many others, I find the muted tones comment a bit weird - muted tones are very in. I suspect you’ll find them at a lot of AIs, as long as they’ve been redecorated since 1997.

Willywaitingforbreakfast · 16/05/2024 01:40

For Greece no
For the Caribbean, Australia, Mauritius, Maldives yes

I booked this hotel through EasyJet last year - flight and hotel for 2 was £1550 for 5 nights. Granted it was early April so weather wouldn’t be hot quite possibly! But if you want to experience the hotel it might be worth doing.

Notnastypasty · 16/05/2024 02:18

Sorry, just realised this is odisia. The one I booked was Ikos Dassia.

Frogpole · 16/05/2024 02:18

We've been on two holidays in that kind of price range (if you adjust for inflation that is, it's been a while) and we've got one booked for 2026 that's a little bit more expensive.

First one was our honeymoon, 10 days in the Maldives. Beautiful place. One of the days we took a boat trip down to Gan, the island right on the south end, to spread a small amount of Mrs. Frogpole's daddy's ashes as he'd served there way back in the day, RAF.

Second one was a surprise celebration kind of thing for when we finally got all of the legal, adoption, parental responsibility, registry etc paperwork done so as all four of us had the same last name. 14 nights in Florida, doing all the theme parks, Disney World, Universal, went to the Kennedy Space Centre twice, everything.

The upcoming one is a cruise, just for Mrs Frogpole and I, something she's always wanted to do. Our eldest has moved away (to Australia no less!), our youngest will follow suit at some point in the not too distant future.. with a bit of luck.. Also I'm a bit older than Mrs Frogpole, whilst I'm not about to kick the bucket just yet I'm not under any illusions about being around long enough to get a telegram from the Queen King either. I've got that much titanium and stainless steel holding me together that I've cancelled my life insurance - I've told them that when I snuff it they're to take me to the breaker's yard and sell me as scrap metal😂

The holiday mentioned in the OP though? Not a thing, not happening, no. For eight large you could get a week in Greece all inc, a week in Spain all inc being shouted at by uppity locals, a week camping in Cornwall being shouted at by uppity locals, a four day weekend in a Welsh B&B walking the Brecon Beacons being chased with pitchforks and blazing torches, a few daytrips, a couple of Friday nights taking everyone bowling, then to the cinema, then to the all you can eat buffet place.

Plus you won't have to put up with your mate's hysterical laughter when you tell them you spent eight thousand bloody quid on a week in Corfu🤭🤣

Garlicked · 16/05/2024 02:24

All these people saying you wouldn't like AI because you want local colour & cuisine - you know they don't lock you in? 😂

If I were travelling with young children, I'd want to be free of grocery shopping and food preparation, would rather not have to truck tired and hungry small people around unfamiliar streets searching for the right-looking restaurant twice a day, and would very much welcome child-friendly services on site with babysitting. Mums get the short end of every stick on holiday unless they can pay to delegate.

PeloMom · 16/05/2024 03:53

I would but not for tui and in Greece. I can get a week at beaches at Turks and Caicos for not much more and is way better.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 16/05/2024 04:07

Have you tried love holidays or booking hotel and flight separately ?
I wouldn’t pay that much for Greece, we don’t do all inclusive, like eating out and because we have some holidays in the U.K too. It’s all relative though! If you can afford- go and enjoy!!

Bunnycat101 · 16/05/2024 06:57

We’re going this year and paying more. I hope it’s worth it! We’ve done lots of villa holidays and I put my foot down and said I wanted a drop and flop holiday where I didn’t have to do anything.

I get the ‘muted tones’ thing- there is a certain aesthetic that means you can tell if a room is sani or ikos. I’m not sure why people are comparing it with backpacking in India. Of course that’s cheaper- been there and done that but there is literally no way I’d want to do backpacking in India with two small children so it’s a stupid comparison.

If you’ve got the money and you want to try it, go for it. It’s a lot and it has taken some time for me to square the cost but I want a chilled out break without a long-haul flight. You can get good value long-haul but Ikos has cornered the market for people who want a bit of luxury without having to be on a plane for 10 hours.

I also don’t get the snobbery around all inclusive. The last AI I did was in the Maldives and it was amazing. At these prices you’re not getting a buffet all the time- it’s all about a la carte.

I’m in marmaris. Would love to go Antalya but I’m a red head with lupus and would defo not cope in that heat lol!!

RosesAndHellebores · 16/05/2024 07:28

For all those saying "hell no, not for Greece" - there are parts of Greece, including on Corfu, that are sublime. Give me St Stephano in Corfu over The Maldives or Maui any day, and yes we have been

karenR1662 · 16/05/2024 07:52

My Idea of All Inc is not a holiday as Most people dont leave the Pool as all there and since you have paid £8k why move ,All inc is killing the restaurant trade in these areas ,One part of the Holiday is about soaking up the atmosphere of where you are finding that Little restaurant down the back ally where some old Nona has 3 tables and shes cooking home made food all fresh on the day Or some other Nona has rooms to rent and waits by the jetty to offer tourists a room I did this so many times even with children in tow and stayed in some amazing places that today are Over priced Little Greek islands where the favourite ,Discover where you are going ,Well traveled dont mean sitting around the Pool day in day out you could be anywhere in the world but all looks the same if you dont get out and explore
