Whats NEVER on your list?

When you do a food shop, what food(s) would never ever make it to your trolley?

I have never and will never buy bell peppers, just the smell makes me heave and they have no place in any of my dinners. Pineapple too.

Things i automatically pick up without having to think.. olives, spinach and red leicester cheese.

Anything fresh I'm good on but powered mash or sardines in a can or meat in a can are all hard no's from me.

@jlox

I don't eat dairy so definitely no Lurpak, my daughter loves it though.

Aberdeen Rolls are local to here, you'll only find them in Aberdeen/Shire, absolutely delicious, especially in soup. They're not like bread rolls at all.

I'm with you on Coriander though, I love it!

I forgot to say no cheese either.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

I don't buy:
Chorleywood sliced bread
Ready meals
Little sachets of flavour powder to add to dinner

There's probably other stuff I don't buy, I just never notice it on the shelf but I do see it in other people's trollies.

jlox · 14/05/2024 15:25

I was just thinking that I'd buy any of this, and then a pp reminded me of goats cheese.

I can safely say I will NEVER buy goats cheese. Devil's armpit cheese.

😂 forgot about this one, I'll add it to my list

Bansheenothree · 14/05/2024 15:33

Mushrooms
Courgettes
Aubergines
Coffee
Tea
Liver
Kidneys
Kippers
Olives
Traditional biscuits - ie digestives/custard creams etc (the type you get in a mixed box)
Tinned potatoes
Angel delight
Avocados
Any kind of substitute milk ie oat milk
Seeds/nuts to snack on/sprinkle on porridge

Most cheese apart from cheddar, feta and gran padano.

Alcohol.

Bringbackspring · 14/05/2024 15:47

Goats cheese

Those yuck looking packaged burger things (Rustlers?).

The weird non-meat products made to look like meat. The vegan bacon looks weird AF, like play doh! I could happily be vegetarian, I eat very little meat as it is, but never in my life would I eat that weird stuff, what even is it? I think it is classed as UPF.

Agree all that fake veggie stuff but
After a stay at premier inn where they serve these ( see image ) I’ve caved.
Sold in asda and Tesco as well as others. Just don’t overfry!

GameOfJones · 14/05/2024 16:02

I never, ever buy:

Red Leicester. It's bland and full of food dye.

Smoked cheese. It just tastes horrible.

Any loaf of sliced bread full of emulsifiers (so basically most of them other than a couple of brands.)

Anchovies.

Fabric softener.

Okra.

Whole melon or pineapple. I just can't be arsed dealing with it!

GreggsSteakBake · 14/05/2024 16:04

Mushrooms
Avocados (slimy. Every single time)
Fennel (agree with pp. 🤢)
Offal
Blue cheese. 🤢

Bignanna · 14/05/2024 16:05

EasilyDeterred · 14/05/2024 12:15

Smoked haddock

It’s delicious, one of my favourite dinners, poached, with a knob of butter on top.
