Whats NEVER on your list?

When you do a food shop, what food(s) would never ever make it to your trolley?

I have never and will never buy bell peppers, just the smell makes me heave and they have no place in any of my dinners. Pineapple too.

Things i automatically pick up without having to think.. olives, spinach and red leicester cheese.

Goats cheese

ColdInApril · 14/05/2024 12:48

Coriander, cucumber, aubergine, suedes, turnips, prawns.

FaeryRing · 14/05/2024 12:49

Wraps, pittas, that kind of thing. I just buy bread and occasionally crumpets.

PuppyMonkey · 14/05/2024 12:49

Fizzy drinks of any sort - nobody likes them.

luckydaytoday · 14/05/2024 12:51

Fish 🤢
Seafood
Meat
Parsnips
Anything Nestle
Frozen desserts with cream (someone at my school allegedly had food poisoning from one 30 years ago, probably untrue but put me off)

LOVE aubergines though!

MyFirstLittlePony · 14/05/2024 12:51

Blue cheese (I just can’t)
ready meals (portions way too small)
small snack packets of things ;mostly air what is the point)
crunchy nut flakes (too delicious I’d eat the lot)
dresses crab, fillet of beef, lamb (love jt but outside my budget 🥲)

Usernamewassavedsuccessfully · 14/05/2024 12:52

Anything in the biscuit/sweet/chocolate aisle
Pies
Milk
Ketchup
Cereal

Meadowfinch · 14/05/2024 12:52

Blotting paper bread in plastic bags
Fruity yoghurts in plastic pots
Pre-made puddings
Frozen meat
Ready meals
Philadelphia - completely pointless as tastes of nothing at all

I buy fresh, cook from scratch and try to avoid anything with excessive plastic packaging.

But actual food groups that I won't buy - tea and brandy (hate the smell).

And no-one in our house likes sweet potato.

Otherwise we'll eat most things.

StoneColdAlibi · 14/05/2024 12:55

Yellow apples
Basic tomatoes
Baby corn
Jars of cooking sauce

Rice cakes
Cottage cheese
Cereal bars
Kefir
The entire pet aisle and baby aisle

mondaytosunday · 14/05/2024 12:59

Fascinating read though! Interesting that some of my staples have made some peoples list.

acheaway · 14/05/2024 13:01

Rhubarb
Anything rhubarb flavoured
Turkey mince
Green beans

Things that shouldn’t be but occasionally are:
Heinz sandwich spread
shippams paste

Spam
Processed.meat
Cream cakes
Swede
Alcohol

BobbyBiscuits · 14/05/2024 13:05

Interesting thread!
I love olives and peppers and always have them.

Mine would be...
Margarine (bleughh!)
Okra (slimy, stringy, tasteless?)
Macaroni cheese
Pot noodle
Pretty much all processed ham unless freshly cut from a deli
Diet coke (addicted to regular coke though!)
Evaporated milk (tried it for the first time the other day and it was terrible, lol)

ViveLaOeuf · 14/05/2024 13:06

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 14/05/2024 13:12

Red Leicester, sorry @jlox Grin. It's just middle of the road to me.

Skimmed milk (just pointless)
Elmlea "cream"
Fizzy drinks
Febreeze (disgusting smell)

jlox · 14/05/2024 13:15

@MalcolmTuckersSwearBox what cheese are you all buying that i dont know about 😂 it felt more exotic than a standard cheddar but theres alot of hate 🥲

Lengokengo · 14/05/2024 13:17

Any fake/ replacement meat (quorn, tofu) and fake / replacement dairy ( margarine, plant based butter).
Jars of sauce ( korma sauce), salad dressings/ vinaigrette.
Made up meat dishes ( except expensive sausages ) eg( premarinaded chicken, hamburgers). These come to mind as my DH has bought these things at one point or another and my heart has sunk. I told him he can cook/ eat them himself when I am not there as to me, they taste awful.

Xiaoxiong · 14/05/2024 13:20

Never ever:

Marmite
Fizzy drinks
Cordial
Air fresheners
Margarine
Flavoured yoghurts
Pre-made desserts
Kiwi fruit (am allergic!)
Tinned soup, fruit or potatoes

BigDahliaFan · 14/05/2024 13:25

@jlox I'd buy a standard cheddar a thousand times over a red leicester. But what I like is a vintage cheddar.

If you like it, buy it!

I mostly buy Parmesan, good quality, strong cheddar (the kind that makes your mouth 'sweat'), or a manchego.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/05/2024 13:33

Pot noodles
Mustard
Blue cheese
Tinned veg (like peas or carrots)
Energy drinks
Milk shakes
