Anyone staying up to try and glimpse the Aurora Borealis?

I'm South East, but it's on my bucket list to see it in real life 🤞🏽.

I had to give my eyes time to adjust, at first I thought there was just foggy patches in the sky 😂

What a joyful thread! Lovely photos, thanks for sharing. I think the ability to see it varies from person to person - I could clearly see the colours and the sky ‘dancing’, like waves, DD could only see white streaks. We’ve been trying to see it for years now, I’m being excited 😆 I’m in South Wales.

We’re in the Scottish Borders and have had the most spectacular aurora display tonight from our back door. It was almost biblical. Caught some pics on my old iPhone, no filters needed.

South Wales view about 23.00 it went cloudy after that though.

Amazing! Couldn’t pull myself away. In the midlands and just took on my iPhone with no effects. Didn’t look like this but could see the white stripes and green/ purple tinges.

That was incredibly underwhelming in person (the 2nd photo is what it looked like to my human eye), but my phone picked it up beautifully.

I know now not to waste money on a visit to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. Would have to look at it through my phone to see anything.

Just nipped back out before I go to bed, not as impressive, but the clouds have gone.

Wish I'd known about this, thought the sky looked a bit foggy when I returned home at 11pm, should have taken a pic!

@HollyKnight you might not have been able to see much with the naked eye where you are but plenty of us did. It was clearly visible here, pink and green, lots of rays.

I've just been up and checked and they are clearly visible but grey again now in Northern Ireland.

Having said that, 5 hours ago I'd have bitten your hand off even for a glimpse at grey lights! Now I'm only getting up for greens and purples 😄

This is going to sound stupid. But I was sure I could hear them. Do they make sounds?!
