Maybe we could have the hospitals on the ships? Helicopter patients on - ensuring they don't need to go near our 💩 shoreline.

This has a USA red state feel to it

New schools guidance in full with @breeallegretti

* Schools must not teach children about gender identity

* No ‘explicit’ conversations about sex until children are 13 - including contraception, STIs and abortion

* No sex education for children until age of 9 in primary school - must be restricted to basic facts of conception and birth. Children also taught how to stay safe

* Children aged 11 taught that sending naked or sexual images of someone U18 is criminal offence

* Children aged 11 will also be taught about sexual harassment, revenge porn, grooming, stalking and forced marriage

* Schools must provide parents with samples of material their children will be taught

So how does a teacher explain revenge porn to an 11 yo when they can't talk about anything "explicit" until they are 13?

Notonthestairs · 15/05/2024 09:16

Quite.
By aged 11 do they mean Yr 6?

pointythings · 15/05/2024 09:17

This is pearl clutching backlashery. How is it a good idea to not teach about contraception until age 13 when many girls these days start periods at 9? And that's aside from the internal inconsistencies highlighted by @fabio12 .

That fag packet they used must have been tiny.

It’s also hard to escape suspicion this is primarily politically motivated when it’s briefed only to the right-wing papers

Shame they can't find quite that level of detail and enthusiasm for ensure RAAC built schools aren't going to fall down, isn't it ?

Some historical fiction for you

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy6332vx5n8o

The problem the Tories have is that they have failed to deliver and the public know it.

Which is why 4% NI cuts haven't shifted the polls, who wants an extra £400 per year if their car gets smashed up on a pot hole, they spend £1500 on a dentist, wait 18hrs in AE and council tax goes up £300 but we all have less services?

Sunak just grins and oozes insincerity.

The underlying problem is socio-economic demographics.

You simply can't have two successive generations - possibly 3 - growing up into a perceived life worse than their forebears and still expect to govern.

Things go in cycles, and this is simply an alignment of circumstances.

Notonthestairs · 15/05/2024 11:31

Snippet from Today this morning - even the Conservatives version of "common sense" should tell you that if you want to improve productivity then you'll must look at infrastructure.
We lag behind in the fabric of the buildings and equipment and staffing in comparison with many EU healthcare services.

The NHS needs real investment in its infrastructure'.

Sir Julian Hartley, Chief Executive of NHS Providers, tells @EmmaBarnett he is worried about delays to the official plan to build 40 new hospitals in England by 2030 #R4Today

But I'm glad we've got PPE rotting in £££ warehouses.

Notonthestairs · 15/05/2024 11:33

Dear Labour MPs. It would be really, really funny if, in the moments leading up to PMQs, you all go "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh" whenever a Tory MP walks into the chamber, then "ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" as they take their seat.

Unparliamentary? Sure. But funny.

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/05/2024 11:33

We need to talk about revenge porn but we can’t talk about the porn bit even though about 30% of you will have seen porn by 11 is exactly the sort of ill conceived nonsense document I’d expect to come out of the DfE and this government.

And FGS don’t let them know about contraception until year 9 even though loads of them will have seen porn by then and a few of them will be having sex.

Is this Cates’ plan for staying at home and having more babies? Start them young.

Apparently there is a big "secret" labour event on Thursday and lots of rumours of another defection. My money is on Will Quince and related to defence/ security. (Colchester army base). https://twitter.com/breeallegretti/status/1790477309729751510?t=YgN2_DXmmSKUMXPFQTkErg&s=19

But it could be anything
There may not be a defection tomorrow but I do hope there is.

Anyone heard about Gullis being under investigation?

Update on that story

NEW: I understand the ‘special guest’ at a Labour event in Essex tomorrow is… Keir Starmer.

Local party members were sent an email inviting them to an event with a ‘special guest’. For them that person, I’m told, is their party leader.

Steven Swinford

Keir Starmer goes in on the prisons crisis as lower level defendants are released on police bail without hearings after jails ran out of space

Some prisoners will be freed up to 70 days early after ministers to ease overcrowding crisis

Rishi Sunak says that no-one who poses a risk to public safety will be released

https://x.com/matt_dathan/status/1790702063304814650

This is simply wrong from Rishi Sunak.

As @charlie_taylor6's report on HMP Lewes found, high-risk prisoners are being released early under the scheme.

This included a prisoner who was deemed a risk specifically to children, with a history of stalking, domestic abuse and being subject to a restraining order:

Does rather beg the question as to why they are locked up then doesn't it ?

There is dim. Then there is Rish! dim.
