Why can't they release more women early and move the men who are raping, being violent and murdering people to their cells?

Our whole penal system needs reform (won't ever get it though).

I mean is it for ? Ask 10 people will 10 10 different answers.

Why do we lock up people for non violent crimes, in order to keep violent offenders on the streets ?
By what metric is a penal system successful or not ? (This is a perennial bug bear of mine. If you can't define success, how can you define failure).

I think a good start would be to look at countries with lower recidivism rates. But of course crime is so intertwined with socioeconomic issues that you end up needing to restructure everything.

The problem is, under the neocon agenda everything is a resource to have value extracted. Criminal justice being no exception.

Once you start off down that path, then you need a system which delivers you free labour. Look at the US system to see where we are headed.

It's been reported on Site Stuff - both on the "Banner Ad" thread which has tumbleweed with MN ignoring the issues raised and/or gaslighting us as to the new amount of advertising being "normal" on Social Media platforms and in a standalone thread.

MN replied on the standalone thread and asked people to click through to identify its URL. Some brave people have done so: it leads to a fake BBC website and then to a scam investment site.

MN claim to have blocked it and are looking at where it came from - but it would appear unsuccessfully, as it's still popping up.

It's even appeared on the Domestic Abuse topic/threads

I haven't had that one but a few weeks ago I had a preteen lying on a bed covered in heart stickers - I meant to report it at the time as it was clearly fishing for peadophiles on a parenting forum. I know we have a large amount of male posters and I wonder if it's skewing the advertising? I think I took a screen shot but something happened and I lost track of it. I could still send it to them but I've not had it since, and certainly would never click on it if asked!

I really think we should be keeping violent and sex offenders under lock and key. People nicking food and electricity to feed families should be given other ways to show penance, because in reality all they need is the social net we had before this sack of turds came in.
