Weird things you love that other people think are awful....

I have two:

One:
Our dog has started getting up at sometime between 5am and 6am every day.

Me and DP have started sleeping in separate bedrooms so her early wake-ups don't disrupt both of us.

DP complains vigorously about the whole situation.

I secretly love it.
I love sleeping separately from DP.
I love waking up with the dawn.
I love having a brew in the early morning when it feels like the rest of the world is asleep.
I love early morning walks with the dog when the streets are empty.
I love having long mornings when I can get all my jobs done before 9am.
I love feeling like I've woken early so I deserve extra tea and biscuits.

Having said that, I really hope its only a summer thing. Five in the morning on a cold, wet January morning isn't so appealing.

Two:
I do a personal training session in our local park twice a week.

I love it when it rains. I especially love torrential, hammering rain. Its cooling and refreshing. The park empties and I feel a wave of optimistic isolation come over me. I feel powerful. I feel dedicated. I feel strong. I feel completely alive.

Last night I got caught in a thunder downpour and it was wonderful.

What awful things do you love....

I love cleaning really manky cookers and bathrooms.

I like being interviewed (as in a job interview). Is like a one hour test on the subject I know most about - ie myself!

Teenagers

They are able to have a good conversation with you make a brew and have ideas if you bother to give them time to express it. Open to other views too.

Yes, and pigeons. Pigeons and seagulls get such a bad rap but I think both are beautiful.

The seaside wouldn't be the seaside without the cry of a Seagull.

Pigeons just mooch about doing no harm and seem like very sweet natured creatures.

I love exams and job interviews. Also like Wagner’s operas.

Oh I love sleeping separately, it's such a treat!
And getting up early to DO THINGS.
Mondays: love them. Clean slate.
Cleaning the plughole (3 of us have got long hair now): the feeling of satisfaction.
Harry Styles videos: nobody here seems to like him but I think he's a gift to the menopausal woman quite honestly. (Weird to find oneself grateful to Simon Cowell.)
Stripping a roast chicken with my bare hands and licking the jelly 😳

I love sardines.Fried Sardines in particular, I wish I didn't and could be a vegetarian.

I love the smell of lavender, not everyone does I had a boyfriend who hated it.Iove to have fresh bunches of lavender around the house,or a bit of lavender oil on my pillow when I sleep.

Oh and I love change. Before settling the kids down for school we moved 7 times in 8 years. And I've never been in a job longer than 3 years, 18-24 months is my average (successful career I hasten to add!)

I like Mondays too. It's the new start thing. Always get more work done on Mondays but later week complications set in.

Yes - exams were my favourite part of school - no coursework or groupwork and silly flipchart staff. Just you v question.

I love mornings so much

Today was the first day out without a jacket or brolly by 8am with 2 of the dogs

Was back with fresh pastel de nata by 10am

Nothing makes me happier than heavy rain at night hammering on my bedroom windows. It is my favourite sound in the whole world.

Instant coffee - me too. Much prefer it.

@PossiblyNow we've got a brilliant one in Bath- in the window he has old fashioned shavers and really good hairbrushes and sets by yardley and Coty and suchlike - he also stocks really old brand perfumes like Tweed

I love the smell of fresh fish and I love gutting fish. In fact I bought some today and there was a queue so I told the fishmonger I would do it myself.

I love parenting the teenage stage.

I love the hygienist, I feel so light and clean afterwards. I like going to the dentist generally. Think I've passed this onto my DD, she barges past me to get on the chair first.

I have long menopausal hair (it's falling out in clumps) and dp has short,shaved hair so it falls to me to unclog it
I love getting a 'good' bit out and binning it (dp has spoiled this a bit by buying drain unblocker)

I used to put my flakes in the freezer (until the changed the recipe)
Cold,hard and crunchy-perfect

I do a lot of crafts,and doing that last stitch on a cross stitch is the best feeling in the world
Nobody in the world is as happy as me when it's done

I like being able to hear my neighbours. I live in a small block of flats and I have a good relationship with all my neighbours above, sideways and below - and the noise of them going about their business, sometimes entertaining people or playing music, makes me feel happy because it reminds me I am part of a community of people I like.

Holes. I have trypophilia rather than trypophobia.

I adore lying I bed when the winds howling and the rain is battering the windows.
